I am a roller dancing judge. Why is that ice dancers tend to keep the hip of the employed leg up and out from the body on outside edges, instead of keeping it square with the body and in direction of the lean? In roller dancing, it's called a double lean.Read more Show less Reply 1

I really don't know as I'm not an expert - I had to rely on coaches to help me write it.. It maybe that the ice blade is under the foot and a roller skates are on the side of the foot. When ice skating, the skater is conscious of what edge they're on or need to be on..esp when learning..
