Dark Saga is the album that got me into Iced Earth the song I died for you got me through a lot in my early life but Horror Show might actually be better than Dark Saga but it's hard to choose.

Iced Earth, especially with Matt Barlow, is amazing. Everything from Burnt Offerings in '95 through Horror Show in 2000 was absolutely incredible. Alive in Athens is an unbelievably live album, as well. Also look into Days of Purgatory, which is a re-recording of their earliest albums with new drums, bass, and vocals.

Thanks for doing this reaction! Better late than never Hahahah! So.. this is their "classic" lead singer Matt Barlow. You just got Barlowned. ;) He's one of my favorite singers, up there with Halford and Dickinson. I think their newer stuff is good or okay, but their older stuff is amazing. Great reaction! Some songs even sound better than studio. Alive in Athens - there is no words how good it is. There exists a DVD of it or a normal AudioCD (3 CDs) Try to see one of these and not a mobile phone capture or such, because this is a masterpiece and needs the full quality.

When it comes to Dracula, I think that the studio version was much better because the drums by Richard Christy on it were MUCH better. Richard Christy left Iced Earth soon after recording the album (he got into some disagreement with Jon Schaffer) but regardless the drum-work he left behind was still excellent. Iced Earth have a lot of great stuff, much better than the new album. Horror Show (the album that Dracula is on) is my favourite album by them. Check out the album versions of Jekyll & Hyde and The Phantom Opera Ghost. They also have an awesome live album called Alive in Athens. Full of great stuff, but check out Dante’s Inferno from that concert.

Dracula is off of the Horror Show where all the songs, except for one, are based on horror characters. It's probably the most underrated album by Iced Earth. Anything by them prior to the 2010 is a must listen for any true metal fan!

Horror Show is also one of my favourite albums. You should also listen to "Wolf" of that album. It's an unbeatable contender for a "try not to headbang"-contest ;-) . Don't know if there is an good live version, though. Also worth a try and a masterpiece from the Ripper Owens era is the Gettysburg-trilogy from the "Glorious Burden" album (the rest of the album is kind of meh). Also don't think that there is a appropriate live version of it.

Just noticed this one now ;) Anyway. Barlow perfected this song in live. I REALLY like the Barlow's live vocals and performance in this song more, than the studio. I think no-one can do it better. Overall, I think everyone should buy Live In Athens and it has the best of Iced Earth. Not saying, that the newer shit is bad, but... I just think that everything in Iced Earth, combines in that live...
