I remember watching Bleach when it was still airing. For some reason i never understood why I loved Ichigo more as a character compared to other popular MC's like Naruto, Luffy or Goku. It was probably this episode that me realize it was how relatable he was at times. Most of times, dealing with grief and pain is a momentary obstacle for the main character, but not for Ichigo. The depression of his inability to overcome the problem and protect his loved ones, wasn't a small part in his story. The arrancar arc and The Lost Substitute Shinigami arc have at its core Ichigo's inner turmoil and how he faces it. There was never a one time thing, he kept going back and forth between the inner turmoil and resolution. And in this episode the weight of all of that despair finally got to him, and he broke down. Much like real life depression, its not a one time thing to fix and thats it, quite the oppossite, its something that one struggles to overcome and ends up falling back into the bad habits. Maybe it was because of my own depression at that time, that Ichigo felt... 'real' to me. I had moments when i saw how he was dealing with his depression and I was like '... I know how he feels.'

Rukia had the best entrance there and the quick switch up there was pure comedy gold, it made me nostalgic and reminded me of the good old Agent of the Shinigami arc (the first arc of Bleach) when Ichigo and Rukia went around the town hunting hollows lol, all that was missing there were some of those fancy art pieces of Rukia and it would have been perfect haha

Ngl knowing what I know and probably a bunch of people who have read the manga. Going back and seeing certain scenes in the anime before the tybw arc, there's so many light hints to ichigo's past and even in this arc when he gets his powers back😊😊. Bleach just hits so differently properly why it's my favourite from the big 3 the only one I found worth finishing and investing time into the whole Bleach franchise

When he broke down and cried, that became my favourite episode of all the series, sad, vulnerable, but beautiful... it's the culmination of his grief that he kept inside... feeling so alone and like he's lost everything. I had started watching the series two years ago this fall. I was looking for an anime, and this one being on D+, I tried it and fell in love with it... but when I came to this episode, Ichigo became so much more relatable and I love it even more... it's the moment that I've felt like him many times in my life...

"No matter how much he can change your past, he can't change your future" that's a line, mark it 👀 Yes, this actually was the first time seeing Ichigo crying, Ginjo and Tsukishima went pretty hard on him with their plan, the emotional damage was high. It was anothe solid moment, a reason more for appreciate this arc.

His zampakuto is empty, there is no zangetsu or hollow inside. They like filled again his empty tank that also merged with his fullbring. This is why is bankai broked in first cours of thousand year blood war by hwach, the fact that his bankai is completely empty and anyway he would already talk with zangetsu if it was not the case

Thinking back, I think it would have been better to talk a bit more about the Spirit King at this point. Like the truth about the conditions to awaken Fullbring. But cramming in that much story might have made it redundant...But I liked this episode.

Oh we understood it completely undermined the sacrifice ichogo made to end aizen just to change the end remember this was the orginal end of the series it took 10 years for tybw to get green lit to be animated. Meanwhile the manga went on and on.
