It's a reason they're called "instant" ramen noodles. They were never meant to be very flavorful and that great. At the fact that he said they don't microwave their noodles which is why our ramen is so cheap.

I keep seeing comments about them saying American ramen is trash and Japanese ramen is great but honestly I didnt see that at all in the video. Seemed to me they liked the american .60$ ramen which surprised me. Granted im sure its not as good as ramen from a restarant in japan but whoever thinks a .60$ ramen noodle microwavable cup is anywhere near that is dilusional. So that leaves us with comparing american instant ramen to japanese instant ramen and it sounded to me like american instant noodles were better, or atleast not horrific to their ramen experienced taste buds... and is it just them being polite? I have no idea and if so I did not pick up on it and the video is a waste of time if it does not express some level of honest review/comparison. ...just saying....

Why do people think that people from other cultures are pretentious and do everything in traditional style while looking down on "inauthetic foreigner garbage". It's like a weird inferiority complex and everything there is just as processed and manufactured as over here. Westerners have this delusion that everyone is this perfect Noble that eats restaurant style food only.

@@Estradial Because many do. I've met multiple people who hated on local (Seattle) noodle places and instant noodles, specifically a few Asian foreign exchange students at UW and WSU. It's even more obvious in the tea world, many people shit on teabags but then there are people like you saying "Why do you think people care?" Because we have seen them care.

Over in Japan, Ramen soups or some here in America there are Ramen shops that have traditional recipes... The soups are really salty, but not so much where its unbearable... Its just a very full flavor that hits all your tastebuds at once. More traditional Ramen shops will have pitchers of water with spices and sauces all around the bars and tables and its because you drink a lot more water.

I also like to sometimes leave the seasoning out of the packet kind and put in some butter and parmesan instead...and the kind in the big bowl are real good if you add a fried or boiled egg, some everything bagel seasoning (or togarashi works too if you have it), some hot sauce and a little bit of leftover veggies.

I’m shocked to see people in the replies who like it 😳 been eating instant ramen for my whole 40 years of life, tried them all, and hands down the cheese one is THE NASTIEST one I’ve ever tasted - my 3 kids won’t even touch it and they usually eat anything smothered in cheese. Only 2 people I knew who would eat it are, well, how do I put it politely, very stereotypically “white” in their food preferences (no seasoning, so flavor, no nada) 😂 (and before you call me racist, I’m white damn it lol)

I love how these guys don't just ridecule the ramen. They're actually genuine and honest with the review. Most people would just make jokes on how bad they are because it's popular opinion and compare it to the BEST ramen they ever had(which obviously isn't fair because these are instant ramen) . But these noodles aren't so bad imo.

@@RamenBoi What? Shin Ramyun is like 4x the price of the cheap ones. It's not even comparable. Either way taste is very subjective when it comes to ramen. I've tried to more "high quality" brands that I hear such good things about and they end up tasting disgusting. Ive worked at a grocery store and on my break I had a go at all the ramen we had in stock. Some of the best ones come from maruchan. The shim ones were pretty gross imo.

Japanese instant ramen is better than our instant ramen. You can find instant ramen in the US that is similar to Japanese instant ramen, but it is much more expensive. Nissin Raoh is the best example of this. Nissin Raoh is marketed in the US as a super high-quality product. It is also way more expensive - $3 for each package. But in Japan, it would be pretty much average.

@@heinzguderian9980 Yeah it's just common sense. Imported stuff has to be marked up more. And of course it'll be better in Japan. It's a native food they'll have alot more brands. It's like saying the US has better hamburgers than Italy, Mexico has better tacos than England, India has better curry than Australia. You don't have to tell me the obvious lol I'm just saying that what we have here isn't as bad as so many people make it seem.

Yeah they were being fair, and comparing them to the instant noodles available in Japan. You notice they even liked most of them. There were only a couple that they didn't seem to like much. The take away from this is that Japanese instant noodles have more salt, and bolder flavors than the ones from America. The ones available in the US are a bit lighter style of soups. The others in the comments saying that is "better"....well that's an opinion. Sometimes you can be in the mood for something lighter. Sometimes you can be in the mood for something bolder.

I have no idea what you guys do in japan, but in the US one thing a lot of people like to add to their ramen is a slice of american cheese. The cheddar flavor is supposed to replicate that rather than a thick creamy saucy mac n cheese. Also for how bland the broth is, I don't know anyone who adds the full amount of water. I think there are some problems with health guidelines and not having too much salt in food, so the ramen doesn't come with as much stock powder. So everyone just kind of understands that if you want it to taste good and salty you have to put much less water than recommended.

It is more salty, but it’s much more flavorful compared to Maruchans noodles. Maruchans noodles don’t have that much seasoning and is just super salty🤢

I always felt like adding the flavor packets when the soup is drowning in water from boiling that the soup overall has such a watered down (pardon the pun) flavor and makes the soup not particularly good. I need at least THREE packets of flavor if I have to eat it that way. Otherwise drain 3/4ths of water THEN add packet :D

I eat the Shin red or black on a regular basis because I love ramen. The shin black definitely has a richer bone type broth than the red, but the red is spicer, and I love spicy. I always add some sort of chilli's fermented in fish sauce, rice vinegar and soy sauce to both (usually serrano because those are easiest to find, but thai chili if I can). after cooking I let sit for 1 minute and throw in an ice cube or two. It yields more broth, stops the cooking, and lends a chewier noodle. I'm American and there's no way I am eating any other ramen unless it's from an actual ramen restaurant. Thanks for your video!

Jo Castillo Same with the Italian videos I’ve seen. Some they refuse to take another bite. I’m sure it’s not the same and definitely not authentic but acting like it’s a turd on a plate is so disingenuous. They just want to use the opportunity to act like their food is far superior instead of giving a real reaction.

So, the thing about salt is that it enhances flavors. However, sometimes no matter how much salt you add, it won't help. In these cases you should add vinegar. In homemade ramen recipes, there is usually things like rice vinegar, sugar, and salt / soy sauce. Using a fine balance of these elements helps give a more balanced and enjoyable flavor. Also Japanese don't shy away from MSG which is huge difference from US instant ramen brands.

lol, you guys are so polite...Love you guys! OH, the shin cup in america is different than the ones in Japan and Korea. I go to a korean market to buy the shin ramen from Korea. Something about the type of chili and spices are different because of U.S. import restrictions. There was a worry about some type of contamination several years ago so the U.S. got a different shin cup. I think the package shin ramen tastes better than the shin cup. Love your show. keep up the great work!
