Very well made. I think it's cool how there is not one existing room in the game that is not scene at some point in the game. Everything is there for a reason. That's what minimalism is really but getting something that polished (as in the level design) is just beyond impressive to me.
@NomadColossus10 жыл бұрын
Actually, there is one spot that seemed to be just for show... just South of the Windmill is a building that plays no part in the game. I thought it would lead to one of the other rooms but it doesn't. There's also some balconies I noticed at the Cemetery and Plaza areas that are off limits.
@AndersPecore10 жыл бұрын
I never noticed that. Thanks for pointing that out.

The world of Ico and SotC has had such a huge influence on me that without really knowing it until recently, much of what I build in Minecraft, oddly enough, is in the same light or venue of the architectural elements usually seen in those two games. Some sort of chaotic architecture that constitutes both a specific pattern and an organic layout, blending both man-made and natural environments into some sort of dichotomy that makes sense given the world and shows a fusion of both ancient and industrial technologies together. The other influence being Halo in how the Forerunner structures are technically all inter-connected with the natural environment and nature sort of placed over the artificial layout. I don't know how to accurately explain it, all I know is that the worlds of Ico, SotC, and Halo are probably my favorite out of any particularly due to how mysterious all three are.

Nice work Nomad. I'm still hoping ( along with many others ) that "ICO" gets the same from-the-ground-up remake that S.O.T.C. did in 2018. Now that SONY has acquired Bluepoint Games, I feel we are closer to a remake actually happening. Hopefully that's not just wishful thinking.

This is superb! I'm fully playing through "Ico" for the first time just now (been on my to-do list for years) and I'm absolutely in love with the architecture and level design. I wish someone would make some sort of VR model where you could roam the whole castle freely.

there's one thing this video really made me think about and that is that i can't help but wonder what in universe purpose this castle was even constructed for in the first place. i mean yes yes yes yes yes we can go on and on and on and on about the children being brought there to be sacrificed and the queen absorbing their power but.... was that what it was built for to begin with? fun fact. the castle in the mist can be seen in the background of the prequel game shadow of the colossus. it's out of focus but it's there. this must mean that whoever built it did so before dormins curse was released unto the world through baby wander, so the way i always interpreted these games was that all horned children were descendents of wander thus the horns, and that this game explains the breaking of the curse. if that's the case what purpose did the sacrifice room serve before the existence of horned children? who lived in this castle before dormins curse? and since it's clearly shown that this castle was designed to be some sort of maze i can't help but wonder if this place was built as a prison for someone? maybe for the race of white skinned beings that yorda and the queen seem to be a part of? it just raises so many questions and i can't help but draw mental parrallels to the greek legend of the minotaur trapped in the center of a maze for being outcast by king minos.

You should do the same for The Last Guardian! I can't find a good map of the nest anywhere. But when I'm playing, I definitely recognize landmarks, and when you're on top of that tower near the end of the game, you can look down on the whole nest and recognize a lot of places that you've been.

Wow, the Castle looks so small from a top down view. I got lost in this place as a kid. I got stuck in the cemetery. I was stuck so long that Yorda had to point out the obvious for me. Literally took her pointing at the pressure plates. Then it hit me, I was like "oh Zelda has puzzles like this." Just my ICO experience. Never beat the game sadly. Might try to when I can get my hands on the remaster.

@NomadColossus10 жыл бұрын
I don't think it makes any difference, each colossus you kill gives you 8 grip points and 4 health points - you start with 100 of each. Each white tailed lizard you harvest only gives 1 grip point, so killing colossi is the easiest way to grow your grip energy.

I'm really glad you're still making videos, Nomad c: Your channel is awesome! Btw, I dunno if you alreadly said that in any other video, but where do you think the castle was, considering SotC map?
