@@qwiked Gale Banks did a differential cover comparison utilizing a similar cover to what is used on the front differential of this truck made by that vendor. Not sure why ward chose that cover but it actually creates additional friction within the differential housing and starves the upper portion of the ring gear. Hopefully we can get an explanation on the CFD that Ward used to determine this cover is an improvement over a normal diff cover.

Ford has used Cummins engines for years in their vehicles, although those have been F-650 and up. As a Ford guy, I would have preferred to see a different chassis go under this one, but it's a damn good improvement body wise. I never liked that era Dodge pickup visually and am glad to see one scrapped for some classic Ford sheet metal up top.

Like so many others here, I am a huge fan of your work Johnathan. You give me hope in American manufacturing and I love that you are so focused on all of the details. Also like so many others here, I wish I won the lottery in order to buy one of your cars. I think you should allow 200 or 300 fans to buy a lottery ticket and have the lucky winner a recipient of one of your master pieces. I know you have done that with charities - the Peterson Museum, etc., but if you “sold” one of your masterpieces this way once a year, you would have no difficulty getting enough folks to pony up $1k for the chance to take one of these home. I KNOW I WOULD!

1st vehicle purchased (back in mid-80's) just before I got my license was a '65 long bed, w/straight 300cid 6-cyl, & c4 trans for $300. It was abandoned on some dudes property by the previous owner and wasn't being used. Did a quick carb kit & ad-hoc tune up, popped in a battery, and replaced the old gas w/fresh stuff and we drove it up on a trailer to pull it home. Did our own body work, supplied the paint (original Rangoon red w/clear coat), and a family friend painted it for $100 in my dad's garage. Whited out the grill & bumpers, had the bench seat reupholstered in red velour w/white vinyl perimeter, laid in some red carpet, and a had a white tonneau cover made to match. A year or so later, I noticed some water in the oil & turns out the 6th cylinder wall had a crack in it from having been bored .30 over too close to a water jacket. So we put a 70's era 351 Cleveland in it. Loved it, and had it for about nine years as my daily driver before replacing it with a modern vehicle. Even took it to Philly while I as in the Navy (boy it got attention there). Loved seeing this truck done to the nines and am envious of the owner.

why would you put a 2016 engine in this truck? It requires too much electronic integration. Reason he went with the 06 cummins was that it can be integrated alot easier into this truck.

@randysrestoration 7 жыл бұрын

@joeyscleaninglady2877 7 жыл бұрын
Have you ever swapped a modern "non-crate" engine into any vehicle? It requires integration with the CAN systems (usually 2 channel powertrain). It is not as easy as doing "another" you have to spoof the hundreds of messages that the ECU's need to see to operate properly.
@randysrestoration
@randysrestoration 7 жыл бұрын
As a matter of fact I have swapped more than one "non-crate" 3.5 EcoBoost including all electronics into 50+ yr old trucks. Getting a 6.7 & up Power Stroke into one would not be that difficult.

Beautiful beast, had a single cab 3/4 ton as a kid. One thing we did was use 1 1/2 ton fenders on the front to be able to run 12" tires on a 2nd truck, worked great in the farm's back 40. Thanks for sharing your gifts. B

This is by far one of the coolest things I accidentally stumbled on on youtube. Thanks for taking me on a journey with your detailed description of everything you did to this vehicle, for I geek out over stuff like this too!

I can completely live with the Dodge powertrain in this thing. That truck is gorgeous. I love the slant on the B-pillars as well. Really adds something the profile that thing cuts.

Couple thoughts... You are generating product ideas that would make great products for others' builds, and I get that your company's not geared to offer them commercially. My suggestion there would be simple- start a product company. It's a really different business, you're right. Either empower a leader or take on a partner where you license the designs, mfr the products if you want to, take some equity in the new company and retain as much creative & quality control as you want. But just hand those things off to someone who becomes great at doing that kind of business. One criticism, and I hate to say it, but I have a geeky eye too: the relationships between the tires and the wheel-well cutouts isn't quite right. The reshaped cutout in the front has a relatively flat spot on the backside of the curve, and in back the tire just feels too close to the cutout and looks like the wheelbase is a tiny bit too long. It's a BEAUTIFUL truck, but before you said you'd mod'd those cutouts, I knew it... and they never didn't look a little wrong to me for the length of the whole video. Sorry- but hey, if I have spinach in my teeth, I want my friends to tell me.
