This truck is awesome , it is now what it should have been for years. TLC and thought and modern engineering makes this my lottery winning prize truck. Maybe someday before I die I can own one?? at least Dream...Please God....Great Job again ICON

As a lover of series LandRovers and the Defender,i have to say that i love this truck.One of the major things that lets them down is a lack of 'grunt' (with the exception of the 50th anniversary v8) L.E.D s however,i don't think suit it.But that's just my own personal opinion.If i was well minted,i'd be on the phone to you tomorrow! Lovely job.

Jon, fantastic! I for one love the look of the Rovers, I drive an old 96 RR P38, it is a jalopy, that has yet to leave me stranded anywhere...even on hunting and fishing treks, and I agree the fit and finish on these things leave allot to be desired. I often drool over your art, and wonder how I will be able to pay for one. I hope that your ideas like the FJ's and Toyota go into the these mfg's minds and pay you the stipends you deserve if they use them. GREAT STUFF!

I've been aware of your company for some time but only just subscribed to the channel and didn't know you'd tackled some Land Rovers. Brilliant. The comments that you're not the only company to "do this stuff" are partly correct, but no one does it quite like you - more power to your elbow. I'm hoping, lottery win aside, that a customer rocks up to your door with a Series Land Rover and gives you a free hand - derelict or pristine - I'm not picky. You think a Defender's not square....oh boy! ;-)

I got a love-hate relationship with Land Rovers... from series 1 to series 3 and Defenders...(the real ones), they are extreme looking cars.... but they look better from the outside that from inside.... love the metal dash... like the paint but not the wheels or the tyres but appart that ,it looks pretty cool and its driveble for nowadays roads ..Good job!!! AA+

The barrel sides were designed in 1958 and the 'new' headlight/grill design came about in 1983 so no surprise if the team were no longer about. As for the basic interior, it was designed for farmers and the like for use as a utility vehicle with the ability to easily hose out the interior. Hence the plain plastic or lack there of. As for being out of square, it doesn't need to be millimeter square. As long as the roof and sides bolt on and seal, being a bit on the piss isn't important... As much as i'd like the power, i'd HATE an auto box, but those axles and brakes i'd not kill, but certainly do somebody some damage for...

Severe overhaul. Rich man's landrover, presumably fast as hell. One of the points that people miss about the landrover is that it's built for range and not speed or extreme terrain, but can he customised to do either. Worth checking out what the race and expedition people do in terms of modifying landrovers. Bowler etc.

Man if I had money to burn I'd love to see you guys "do your thing" with my 1978 Rover SD1 Series 1 3.5 V8, I really do love the Stock Buick or as we know it in the UK the "Rover V8" but would equally love to try a Supercharged LS motor with somewhere in the region of 650-700HP at the wheels with either a 6spd Manual or sequential box. Even in stock form it gives modern hot hatches a run for its money and will happily cruise at 120-130mph at day,drove it from London to Newcastle in total comfort,mine as it stands right now it totally stock with the exception of a few QOL additions from the RimmerBros catalogue(Stainless Steel Fuel Tank and exhaust,upgraded fuel pump and swapped out the Twin SU's for a Holley 4 Barrel.

I would like to know if you do similar stuff in the future with cars like the G-class from mercedes and/ or Hummers H1's ?

Great job but if I were specing it I would have asked for the central cubby between the seats to be binned and both seats mounted at least 2 inches inboard giving a much more natural driving position. Also I would have moved the handbrake up to the top of the transmission box and created a rose jointed link so the damn thing does not rub against the drivers leg.

Why has it got freewheeling hubs on the front axle? Did they fit a part time 4x4 transfer case? If so that is a retrograde step, a downgrade rather than upgrade.
@troopa4516 жыл бұрын
That's debateable lots of people myself included much prefer the older series part time system, if nothing else the freewheeling hubs with theoretically net you another mpg for so.
@matthewkeith86056 жыл бұрын
Oh yes for sure that permanent 4x4 drinks a lot of fuel. But a 90 is just too short to be rear drive only, 88"s get away with it because they'll barely do 55mph downhill where the Defender is a faster beast all together. That said Icon seem to have made it work here but permanent is still way better on the handling and safety fronts, especially if you're not counting the pennies (or cents) as clearly the owner of this one won't be as they had it done by Icon. I've covered a lot of miles in both Series and Defenders.

It is about time someone recognized the D90's failings and made it the way it should have been made. Well done Mr. Ward! I had a 1965 Series II which I loved, but for the money the D90 was not much of an improvement in comfort with questionable performance.
