I like this guy. He’s relaxing, kinda earnest but assured and he says Macintosh.

Can the MIO 4 be used as a host to attach a Roland Aerophone via USB and thus give it MIDI cable connectivity for, eg. an external sound module?

Hi, once configured using software, can I connect multiple USB devices (USB keyboards and MIDI controllers) and route them to the DIN outputs without using a computer? I saw the MIOXM on the ICONNECTIVITY website but I didn't understand if it offers this possibility
@sweetwater5 жыл бұрын
Hello, Al! You certainly can set up the MIOXM in this way. Simply set up your MIDI routing within the Auracle control software, save it to one of the four onboard presets, and you can recall it later without being connected to your computer. More on that here: www.iconnectivity.com/mioxm Thanks for the interest! Cody Kraus, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1766, cody_kraus@sweetwater.com

Does the MIO2 do the audio pass-thru thing?

The mio4 and Mio10 can work as standalone usb-midi hosts, right? But not the mio2? How is this done via the software? Thank you!
@sweetwater5 жыл бұрын
Hi there. That is a great question! The Mio 2 does not have the USB- MIDI host capability, it will be the basic MIDI box that allows you to have two sets of MIDI I/O, but it offers standalone operation, MIDI filtering, MIDI Merge, and dual computer connections like the other interfaces do. If you are needing to hook up and control multiple MIDI devices and are looking at a more complex set up, I would lean towards the Mio 4 or 10 that will give you that flexibility and expandability through that USB Host port. Let us know if you have if you have any other questions! Maryann Shirley, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1774

I have a Roland F-20 digital piano with only (midi) USB in/out. I want to connect it to an Alesis QSR sound module with only 5pin Midi ports as stand alone (no PC) and using the piano as a controller for the module. Will the smaller iConnect do the job? Thanks

Hello, Mike! I'm sorry to say that there is no way to connect those two devices, as far as I know. MIDI over USB is not interchangeable through an adapter with 5-pin DIN MIDI, they are incompatible. You'd have to connect that F20 into a computer, or buy a MIDI controller that has a 5-pin MIDI output on it. Thanks for the message! Nick LaMendola, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (260) 247-6613

Not sure why Nick from Sweetwater told you there is no way to do this without a computer. The Mio 4 and Mio 10 do exactly that function and can do it as a stand alone device. The Mio 2 however, cannot as it has no USB MIDI host input like the other two larger units.

How much synthesizer I can connect to the mio10 ?
@daspacechoechechoz90282 жыл бұрын
Well technically 10 synths in and out. Plus you can "daisy chain" midi instruments by connecting the output of one, to the input of the next, so and so forth to this interface. ALSO you could connect both in and out all the way through for total control, as in one synth could play the sounds of another, etc. etc. etc. Each could output it's own channel (you select the MIDI output channel in the instrument/drum machine menu) I highly recommend searching up "understanding MIDI" or something like it on youtube...it can get fairly complicated. But it's really pretty simple once you understand it.

The software needs the ability to add a name to the ports so you know what device is hooked up.

Your numbers don't seem to jibe.. 10 built in MIDI ports, Ethernet - "4 MIDI sessions", plus two computers via USB, plus ten additional MIDI ports from the USB Host. That adds up to 26 MIDI ports in my book, not 56. I'll echo the other comments too - five minutes of basically talking head is ridiculous - you don't even power them up so we can see some blinkin' lights! Quick overview of the capabilities with clips of the software to drive it home would have been Much more informative.

I/o’s count as 2 ports. There are 10 sets of midi ports on the unit making 20 (10 in, 10 out), the usbs also would offer 20, plus the rest...
