Yeah not sure why people need to advertise the unit. Not that this video really sold it but others definitely draw people in. I did enjoy them doing a little scouting for me ... picked out exactly where they were.

39 is an easy unit to draw plus it’s big. I usually try to hunt after the snow flies. Where I hunt I never see anyone. The residents never get more than a mile from the road.

Great video, but were you guys referring to those Bull Elk as Bucks? When back country hunting, its important to make sure you at no time are pointing your rifle directly at the other hunter in front of you... Just in case. Safety is paramount.

You are kinder than me. If I had a rule with a buddy that whoever spotted it gets first shot and he went ahead of me and shot it it would be the last time he ever goes hunting with me. This is probably why I hunt alone though lol.

What dates were you up there? My son's and I hunted unit 43 next to 39. 10th to the 17th. smoking hot every day. Got two decent bucks. But tough for sure.

​@@zzz7zzz9I run a similar setup from Kifaru. I really like it and haven't had any issues. I occasionally bump a scope cap open and it's a little tedious getting the strap just right with gloves on. Empty chamber all the time too.

@ never had an issue with it. Very comfortable for long hikes with a pack.

39 used to be a great unit 20-30 years ago, now not so much. I wouldn’t waste my time in that unit anymore. 2025 is the last year NR will be able to get OTC tags, 2026 it’s supposed to be a draw no more OTC for NR.

It’s basically already a draw, instead of applying for a lottery it’s a waiting room online getting assigned a random number. Can’t really call them OTC tags for NR when they sell out within hours

Mule deer numbers are down across the range. Shooting two-year-old bucks is just dumb. When our kids can't hunt mule deer, remember you caused it. Shooting under-aged bucks and poor gun handling skills. Take up golf. Please,
