Hope i can pick your brain for a little advice. I was given a well used Capstone version of this gun and a 4 stage Capstone turbine. Before i consider buying a repair kit to save the gun, what should i spray through it to determine if its functions well enough to save ? It has the standard #3 nozzle, and yes, im a rookie that will really appreciate your help !

I found it was easy to remove the cup just for more mobility and once you put the new packing in pull the trigger back line the nut back up with the threads and then release the trigger to hold it in place and then start screwing in the nut until it’s caught the threads with your hand then you can finish screwing it in with your tool. It’s also good to note that if you go to put your new packing in and it doesn’t drop right in it’s because there is still some of the old packing inside that needs to be removed. I found that out the hard way. My packing was so bad it literally came out as two long threads.

I accidentally pull my packing out too and was in a pinch to find one. I had to finish a project, so I took it all out and re-rolled it back up and put it back in and it worked. No leaks. I was able to finished the job. So, I'm sure you can take a teflon roll of tape and make your own packing. That was my second option but the re-rolling worked.

Use the needle as a guide thru the nut and thru the backing. It will go a lot faster.

These packing are stupidly priced for a little roll of Teflon. Where can I find these for cheap? I found chemicals like Naked Gun destroys the packing.

Since I have 2 guns I was thinking about making my own to see if it worked. I unraveled mine on accident and it looked exactly like what comes off .90 cent roll of teflon.
