I think the scenarios of "you dont need to prime it" are far fewer than "youll be screwed if you dont prime it" i think thats a pretty important discussion to have for new painters. Some quick examples: Greasy kitchens or otherwise dirty walls Oil based wood finish or oil based paint - this the really the biggest one imo Dark colors to light colors Fresh drywall texture or patching Caulking and spackle will often show through if you dont prime Bare wood, metal, or plastic

Thanks for the motivation this morning! I've watched you for some time now and have everything needed to prep and paint per your suggestions over the years but I can't get going on this last room. I know it won't take that long but I keep procrastinating. I've painted the rest of the house and I'm pretty exhausted. I'm using SW Emerald, 2 coats. Question... as a professional painter... if you were to spray a room including ceiling and baseboards, would you still use 2 coats or just one of the SW Emerald? Or is it considered 2 coats when you go left to right, then immediately up and down? Thanks for taking the time to do your videos. They've been a tremendous help.

I gotta finish painting the inside of my home. Bought a Graco X7 and pressure roller today. Gotta get one of those hand markers from 3M. I almost have some pro level stuff.

Skirting boards - teach me bro 😂 Man it is virtually impossible to cut them in perfectly. You use tape sometimes it leaks through. If you leave it down for a while, when you pull it up it pulls off some of the paint on the skirting board. I’ve bought about 10 different brushes but it’s so hard to get a straight line 😩 How can I find your videos on skirting boards?

You mean baseboard or any other trim? Here's my trick: paint the baseboard first, can be sloppy. Then paint your walls. Use yellow frog tape and a small skim coat of quick dry caulking on the tape. Paint your walls and then pull the tape before the paint dries. Yellow tape shouldnt pull off the paint from your trim. Caulking seals the tape. If you aren't painting the trim, same method applies. Just don't leave the tape sitting too long.
