Hi Garrett, I'm still about a month away from getting my Longmill, but I watched the whole thing for the second time. I got a notice that the starter bits I bought from you are in town and should be here today or tomorrow. For the time being I am trying to get familiar with the software and the planning stages. I already have my laser engraver to play with and a 3d printer I am trying to learn, so plenty to do until my router gets here. I usually watch at least two or three videos a day but have to go back and watch them again before I try to run a program. By the time my Longmill arrives I should have everything I need to jump right in and start using what I've learned. Thanks for everything you do.

@@IDCWoodcraft Hi Garrett, I got my bits including the surfacing bit and I have been shopping at Etsy for fonts and plans, so just waiting for my router to arrive. I have a small Sain Smart router I picked up at an auction for $15 and it works, but the spindle is out of true, so I haven't been able to play with it until my new spindle arrives this week. It is not something I will use much but will allow me to learn the process from CAD/CAM to Gcode.

Hi Mr Fromme, another great video. Seems like i am getting many sleepless nights since i found your channel, Lol. It is really worth it. I have been using Fusion 360 for a couple years. I did not have the luxury of someone spending their time teaching me. I had to buy manuals and practice practice practice, with slow improvement . Your way of teaching is great, but i think knowing fushion 360 and been a autocad user for years too has helped. As you know there are similarities. But even then I will need to watch this video a few more times to let it all absorb in, you gave a ton of useful information. I am still waiting for my machine, longmill 30/30 but have started building the bench, the same as yours in one of your videos. Massive amount of info here! ALL of which is super simple to follow along on. I’m watching as much as I can to learn the steep learning curves of Vectric, and you present your material easily for the absolute beginner! Can’t wait to get my CNC soon! Clear as mud!

Hi Edward. I can't wait to see what you start making!! What CNC dod you order?

@@IDCWoodcraft I’ll be pre-ordering the Longmill MKII! And, because you’ve helped me in more ways than you know, I’ll be sure to use your link AND I plan on ordering your starter kit as well! Keep up the great work on your channel! It really is helpful for a new guy like me!

Garrett I hung around for the whole thing and will be watching it again as well. I have watched a lot of videos yours and Mark L’s mostly. I have developed enough of a foundation that now I can follow along pretty well. The software is very rich with functionality, I’m absorbing it bit by bit with your help. I ordered your starter bit set a while ago and current waiting on some of your tapered ball nose bits for a project I’m doing. Mahalo

Hey Dennis, thanks for sticking it out brother! I'm glad the videos have been helping you with the software! Be sure to send me over some pics of your projects you've made with your bits. I'd love to see! Keep up the good work my friend!

Fantastic video. Admittedly I had to watch it in three chunks. But hands down the best vectric video I’ve seen. I recently moved from easel and Inkscape to vectric. It’s been a definite learning curve, but man the program is fantastic as I learn more. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. -Ben

Just so ya know... YES... I'm hangin' in there on your tutorials! haha Fortunately, I've been working with CAD for quite a while, however, your input in relation to Vectric has been quite helpful in making the transition for a guy like me... who's been in woodworking & construction for 4 decades, but just now making the transition to CNC. Looking forward to more... Thanks.

David, nice work brother! I'm glad the videos have been helping you transition over to Vetric. I know that switch can be a bit of a learning curve but you'll be a Vetric pro in no time my friend! Keep up the good work!

Clear as mud! once you realize your offset is the same size of the star Garret, you're the man! Got to say man I love how detailed your explanations are. Even when I dont understand why I still do as you say and in the end it all comes together.

ulissesortiz9495, I appreciate your understanding and patience! It’s great to hear that the explanations are helpful, even when things get a bit tricky. Happy woodworking!

I very much enjoyed this video. I've been using Vectric for about five years. You're the first I've seen that builds a flag to standards, great attention to detail! I know there are many ways to accomplish a task, but I recommend fitting curves to vectors when smoothing bit maps. This eliminates a substantial amount of nodes the machine has to deal with. You were smoothing the curve that left many nodes, but you must have a reason for doing it this way. Also, I learned to always check my material settings when I go to apply tool paths. I ruined a few pieces of nice wood when first starting out because my radio button was incorrect. I wish I'd found your videos early on, beginners and experienced users can benefit from them. Thanks.

Hi Lyle. Thank you. Yes, I think we get into a groove in life and the 'learning' muscle stiffens up a bit. Isn't that why we dive into to new stuff? Glad you are here, my friend.
