Glad I found your videos as a welder and weld instructor I work 7 12's and some days 17hrs. I had a failed marriage due to my attitude which thankfully I never turned it physical. I grew up in an abusive home and I been looking for answers on why I get angry and feel the way I do. This helped me identify some root causes to my way of thinking and acting out those thoughts.

I have loss of control, fear of failure, I’m a perfectionist, I don’t want to look like an idiot, and I want everyone to love me. When I heard someone didn’t love me because I spoke the truth kindly, I was just heartbroken. After going back to adult children of alcoholics groups, I am finally seeing those errors in my thinking. I just had a complete hip replacement so the isolation worked really well for me, my husband is now making me get up and get out into the real world.

It helps distract me from unproductive thinking to listen to ideas I have and will continue to believe. Thanks.

I find it hard to stay positive all the time, because negative thoughts always creep in to take over my positive thoughts, so I try to distract it with yoga, stretching, workout or listening to my best music it's hard to stay consistent because nobody is perfect. Thank you Doctor its helpful. Practice? What practice hehe.

The problem is thoughts don't come conveniently labeled. A distortion can travel through your consciousness like a bullet; leaving you with a reaction. And most irrational thoughts fall under a particular genre, but I've yet to read a text book that explicitly points out similarity in pattern.

15:00 Nitric Oxide and the blame game being a counter to stressful negative thinking that increases aldosterone as well as cortisol building inflammation in the system. Shutting down the rest and digest systems. Where nitric oxide is the counter to cortisol inflammation stress response. Do you have anywhere that talks about the nitric oxide in the system and how it plays within the biological and psychological stress hormone dynamic? :-)

Isn’t this just having a person invalidate their emotions and ignore the issue?
@ginafamily476
@ginafamily476 2 жыл бұрын
I thought it was the opposite. It’s teaching people how to change the way they think of things.it’s telling me they need to feel the emotions but not necessarily act on them before thinking about why their thinking. That’s dealing with their emotions in a positive manner.

No emotions are not distortions. Its the negative story in the head that is the problem. For example if you have a break-up from your girlfriend you will feel sad. Feeling sad is not a distortion. But if you say to yourself as a result of the sadness that no one will ever love you again, that is a distortion. I hope this makes it clear!
