Nelson - excellent video. I am troubleshooting my M1028 and this video explained much. I am troubled by the fact that my GEN 1 and GEN 2 lights are not illuminated when I try to start the vehicle. My oil pressure light does light up so I'm lost right now as to the probable cause. This all started when I had a wire rub against the headwall and burn in two - repaired that but still have a no start condition. I think that failure induced other failures but I cannot find them. I hope you keep producing videos!

Yes, the GEN lights should come on until the engine starts. Sometimes they even stay on until you rev the engine, too. Must have lost connection somewhere! The military TMs (technical manuals) have wiring diagrams that should help. Does the engine crank? If you have a crank but no start then you most likely have a fuel or glow plug issue. Regarding fuel, you could have a bad pump, air in the system, plugged filter, or you aren't getting 12 volts to the pink wire on the injection pump (check that one first!). If you are getting white vapor while trying to start, then its probably a glow plug issue. I assume the vehicle ran fine before the wire rubbed out, so it probably is electrical and not plugged filter, etc. You could have burned out a fusible link, too. Is there anything else on the truck that stopped working after the wire rubbed out? Lights, etc.?
