Idiot Plays Terraria For The First Time

Hi guys! Today I'm trying out terraria for the first time, and I am pleasantly surprised! (and terrified). I hope ya'll like this one, cause I already recorded a second part, lol.
Sorry if I sound strange in this video, I had just made mysterious eye contact with a mysterious man outside my window. I keep my blinds open so my roommates cat can stare at leaves, but instead there was a mysterious man there. I thought it would be rude to close the blinds while we were making mysterious eye contact, so I instead dropped to the floor screaming and hid under my desk. However, he continued to mysteriously stand there, rendering me trapped for the remainder of the week, living off the condensation from my walls and various crumbs strewn about. I had a lot of fun counting the fibers from my carpet, I am at fiber 15,321!

*looks at the comments* You might've heard some things already :p But the most useful tips we'd recommend to start with are: -You can place blocks in the world by equipping them and left-clicking. -Including TORCHES! Blessed blessed light! -Also including blocks, by which you can build an indoors to hide in at night! -You can equip things without needing them in your hotbar by just opening up your inventory and grabbing them (this is useful for things you don't use frequently, like recall potions) -As many people have pointed out, you can auto-equip whatever in your inventory the game thinks is most contextually relevant with Auto Select (hold shift). -Crafting works by just pulling the finished item out of your crafting menu like it's your inventory. The workbench (and also all other crafting stations) works automatically; by standing next to it you gain access to the recipes that require it. -(Notable future crafting stations are "furnace", "loom", "mill", "glass bottle you put on a table", and "chair you put next to a table".) -One of the most useful items you can craft is wooden platforms. You can jump up through them and fall down through them at will with classic video game logic. This is *extremely* important for your mobility, especially underground. -A "proper" house Scott can move into is defined by block walls to keep the zombies out, background walls (crafted at the workbench) to define it as "indoors", an "entrance" (door, platform), a light source (torch lol), a flat surface furniture item (table, dresser, bookcase), and a comfort furniture item (chair, sofa, bed). You'll want lots and lots of houses like this placed all over your game world, eventually. For your second day, three will be more than sufficient. -Scott's 'crafting' menu lets you give him an item and he'll tell you everything you can make from it and what crafting stations you need. Oh, and uh... if you die a lot in the same place, you miiiiiight want to dig up the tombstones.

Hey I've never seen your channel before but this was on my home page for some reason so I guess you did something right :) Terraria is definitely one of those games where you kinda need to watch a beginner's guide. There is a ton to learn but don't let that deter you as you are in for a wild ride and it's an amazing game. Some general tips I can quickly give you are as follows. 1. Learn to do most things by holding shift. When you hold shift the game decides what tool to equip based on what your cursor is pointing at and the distance of the cursor from your character. If you point at a tree and hold shift it will bring out an axe, a stone will bring out the pickaxe etc. The most useful is that when you point close to you on a wall and press shift it will hold out a torch and then you can place it by left clicking. This means that you don't need to switch to your torch every time you need light you can just press shift, and you can remove it from your hotbar so it doesn't take up space. You should be placing torches along your exploration path all the time. 2. Make a house. The process goes like this. Chop trees -> Kill slimes to get slime gel and combine it with wood to make a bunch of torches -> Make a crafting table-> Place it next to Scott near your spawn location -> opening the inventory near the crating table gives you more crafting options -> make some wooden walls out of your wood, as well as 2 doors, and a chair -> Place wooden blocks in a rectangular pattern to make a house -> Fill the house with your wooden walls so that the backround is fully covered -> put your doors at either side and your chair next to your crafting table -> throw in a couple of torches for light. Congratulations you have just made your first house and Scott can move in it and be safe. Houses need walls, a table, a chair, a light source, and a door in order to be considered livable. If you want to check if your house is livable press escape, go to the housing icon to the right of your screen, then click the question mark, then click on the housing area and the game will tell you if it's suitable for an npc to move in. There are dozens of npc's so make sure to keep making suitable living spaces for them to be allowed to move in with you. The guide is massively useful as you can give him any item and he will tell you everything you can craft with that item and how to do so. Abuse that feature of his he is your best friend. 3. Explore (mainly in caves for now). Using the crafting bench you can craft some stone into a furnace. A furnace can melt ore into bars. With the bars you can make an anvil, which in turn can be used to make weapons and armor. So make your furnace and head into a cave until you have enough ore to make some bars. Your first upgrade should be a sword as the shortsword you have now is pretty bad. You can also make a wooden sword on your crafting bench before heading to a cave to make your life much easier. After having a decent weapon you can prioritize a better pickaxe and then do what you like with your bars. While in the caves you are also looking for gems. If you take 15 sapphire, emeralds, rubies or other gems to your anvil you can make a hook which is going to be your first massive upgrade. 4. This might sound counter intuitive but since this is your first time playing its recommended you play on a small world. If you made a large world I would suggest making a new world now that it's still early as it's going to be a massive hassle to deal with as a new player. Small worlds are still massive and you wont be missing anything, and you can even take the character that you already have into the new world without losing anything you looted so far. You can also select to have a corruption world instead of a crimson world as it is in my opinion much easier to deal with for a new player. 5. While Terraria might seem like a Minecraft type game it really isn't. It's not exploration for the sake of exploration. There is a massive list of bosses that you go through in order. Every time you defeat one you are putting the next one in your sights. Your first target is the Eye of Cthulhu, the first boss of the game. I'll let you discover how to fight him. Until then, have fun. I'm kinda envious of you I wish I could play Terraria for the first time again. It is one of the best games ever made and I look forward to seeing you find your footing in this amazing world.

I'm a Terraria Vet.... I can give you advice to get a good start There's a wiki in this game but it spoils most of things... So it's a good to stick with the comments so you can experience the game raw Take a look in the setting and turn ON autofire so you don't need to keep clicking using weapon which just recently added Just like Minecraft you gonna get wood and stone to get your basic crafting station to use them, all you do just stand close to it and then open inventory to show available items to be crafted Gel you get from Slime is use to craft Torches Basics A house made of Wood (yes you can) Wooden Armor Set Wooden Sword Wooden Hammer [If you willing to take risk] (Use Axe to chop them) Cactus Armor (thorns set bonus,a walking prick) Cactus Pickaxe (better than copper pickaxe, no -1 range) Cactus Sword ( prick your enemies ) Get chest for loot Items made of Cactus.... and there's more wacky stuff in this game waiting for you to discover Read what Guide teach you....

I would suggest checking the official or the fandom wikis for any tips on bosses, armor/weapon/equipment for classes, enemy drop chances, the recipes for stuff, and ALOT more. They've helped me throughout my 4-ish years of playing Terraria. good luck and have fun!

genuinely pretty good editing try to back up from your microphone a little unless your plan is to really lean into asmr gaming but then you should probably balance out the game audio also try to sync your audio and video by doing a count in the menu i noticed that you would react to things before they happened but for a video with 56 views really good work

Pretty odd that her sound isn't sync to her typing in Terraria chat... yo @Kit I'd recommend OBS recording software...the mic can be connected in settings and should sync up pretty easily or at least you can easily add a delay so the recording comes out fine!

You can make a house with a box large enough background walls a light source a table and chair and a door. Love the first episode pretty fun to see someone who has never played :)

Newbie tips: You can place wood as is (this is the normal block) You use workbenches by opening the inventory near them You should do some housing* Try exploring the caves for accessories such as the Hermes boots and cloud in a bottle You can check for crafting recipes with Scott (the guide) by clicking on "crafting" when you talk to him and dragging items to the box under your inventory. *Housing: it's basically houses where npcs can live in. For a housing to be suitable, it needs to have walls (you can use wood blocks), erm... Another type of wall (you can make wood walls by standing near a workbench, this actual wall is more of a background wall), a table, a chair and a light source (you can make all these near workbenches, and you can place torches)

Never realized how big of an issue the controls are when you're used to minecraft . . . yeah that's something I've taken for granted. While I'd say this is harder as it revolves around combat, I'd also say it's more forgiving since you don't loose progress either. But the best tip I can think of is 'use your mouse for everything', when in doubt hover over it, also works when you have your inventory open and you'll get more details on what you picked up. And building is similar to minecraft in putting down blocks you picked up, the oddball part is walls are something you have to craft to cover up the background for your home, it keeps monsters from spawning inside.

i see where i live you putten it 20 hours aerier soo i will tell you some tips good thing that you chose crimson it hase weaker enemys but worse loot so for the begining crimson good think to get what corrupton feels and i need to say there are 4 classes and i say one probs and one minus to it melle you are like sundowner from mgr invinceble but your weapons are grindy af ranger you are most mobile of the classes but you are solding everything for amo if you use guns mage you have 2 strongest damage but you need to grind to use your weapons without losing all of you mana summoner you can sit back and relax while minis of yours attack everything you are glass canono or you have big dtruggle to get your weopons ( in melle i mean like you can get some weaponst but those good you need to grind but in summoner all weapons are rare AF
