I'm 61 now and just now trying to return to this profound realization I had when I was maybe 11 or 12 years old. I remember the moment so vividly...I was in the bathroom looking in the mirror...and suddenly had this profound feeling..."I'm alive" and just looked at myself...and kept saying that in surprise...touching my face, realizing I'm really alive...I'm actually here. As a kid it sort of freaked me out. I actually tried to shake the feeling. Go back to the board game so to speak. Over my life I think I've been both drawn to and afraid of that feeling. It produces anxiety and peace at different times. It's both simple and confusing... so thanks...I needed this idiots guide. :)

1- Be free of the game of your life (first taste) 1:48 2- Don't mistake this experience with awakening 5:54 3- Orienting towards that taste, make a decision to wake up, find a way to break open, give yourself to it 6:29 4- find a focus of inquiry + stay in the living truth, simplicity is key, go thru the fear barrier (ultimately in awakening) 7:16 5- post-awakening honey moon period, fluidity, there is flow for weeks or months 9:43 6- emotion work, shadow work, equanimity work, you feel things intensely, deep inquiry (moment to moment) and final realisation (fall of sense of self) 10:30

as much as i love angelo's teachings and advice, i find it silly and sometimes counterintuitive to put a linear space-time framework on how all of this unfolds. i am currently experiencing 4+5 simultaneously after intensely experiencing aspects of 6 for months, before i'm even sure if i've experienced (even though its not an "experience") awakening

Refreshing overview! T shirt reference was perfect. Even the image of sneaking up behind someone popping a paper bag to shock them is appropriate- only a separate self can be shocked by "outside" events. Otherwise, No-self experiences silence, then loud noise, then quiet that all come from no-where going no-where

A long time ago, I decided to meditate with my pet rabbit sitting on my lap. I thought she will hop of in a minute, so that would be fine. During the meditation, my thoughts did stop. However, I experienced the strangest thing. I was being awashed by energy from outside myself. I'm sorry I'm pretty inarticulate, but this energy was unconditional love. It wasn't a feeling or thoughts, it was something beyond anything I know. After it had finished, to my surprise, my rabbit was still sitting on my lap and 45 minutes had passed. I still feel so grateful to have experienced, whatever that was. My search for a way to be has many ups and downs, but I will continue. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and wisdom.

I got the impression of going through a veil to forget our true self so as to purposefully have an experience of separation, to play a game called life. To have experiences in the realm. Precisely because without this forgetting we couldn't suspend disbelief to fully immerse into the game, because it's not our true nature. Which is formless wholeness. We are all One. That's my hippy trippy tipsy projecting. 😀

I'm not awakened as it's usually described. I haven't had any unusual transcendence experiences, so I count myself as not an awakened human being. I'm totally fine with it because I have realized that by just leaving mind concepts and thoughts of labels of things from experiences everything changes. E.g. there is sound in my awareness, and the mind says "I'm hearing the sound coming there". That's my usual mind function. But if I drop off "I", "Hearing", "the sound", and "coming there" what is left? There is still the same phenomenon, the same experience, but no labels for things. After that magic seems to happen. Suddenly there is no separation or distance in experience. IS just is. Not even "all is" because there is no all, there is only one IS. All has happened just by dropping off labels and mind concepts. Being awakened is maybe something more, but anyway, that realization has helped me a lot to be with for example physical pain and fear which has been structured in my body-mind. Nothing needs to change in that experience without labels.

I've had a spiritual awakening recently and it's scary. It's turned everything I've thought about life upside down. Now that I'm seeing the world from another side (and that's an understatement), it's scary as hell. Especially since 99.9 percent of those around me would think I've lost it if I described what's happened. And yet, it's one of the most profound things I've ever experienced.

Completely transcendent offering. Thank you so much for all your videos. These listening have shifted something and deepened whatever this is that cannot stop digging into the fullness of what is here. Instability seems to arise periodically and trust holds it when unsteady. The simplicity is glimpsed and seems slippery. Meeting experience head on,fearlessly, with no resistance is driving the occasional lack of confidence underground and the sense that some help is needed comes up. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Angelo, can you make a video on, or can someone help me with this : how to say in a few sentences what I am moving towards, choosing to see, experiencing, etc. without being confrontational or holier than thou, etc. I have nastily been called Pollyana, or uncaring, uninformed, etc if I don't join friends in the commiserating in negativity about politicians, war, state of the world, etc. I find ego getting involved if I try to "hold my own" but still want to find a succinct and gentle way to say why I don't want to engage. I think this might be a common situation for newbies. Thank you always for all the wonderful work you are doing!!
@SimplyAlwaysAwake2 жыл бұрын
I would say really examine why you even want or need to relate that to anyone. It's a very personal and intimate journey. We often don't realize when we are seeking validation from others. However when we stop the behaviors that assume we actually need that validation, the discomfort from the apparent need for it magically dissipates :)
@veronicapalermo25992 жыл бұрын
Just wanted to say that I can relate to this as well. I used to get caught up in the ranting and negativity and (sadly to say) also gossip at times. A lot of that feels really "misaligned" or "inauthentic" to me now so I find it difficult to engage with. I haven't been called out on it per se but I definitely feel the discomfort of being around those who engage in those kinds of dialogues. I tend to respond in a very unattached way and it often feels like the other person "reads' this and the conversation doesn't get very far. At other times when I'm feeling more insecure, I will intentionally try to "redirect" things. I am feeling a lot of wisdom in Angelo's comment but I am not there yet 😅
@lauraware28222 жыл бұрын
@@veronicapalermo2599 thanks for the comment!! I was thinking I didn't need validation, but just wanted to be able to navigate through the world of other people, BUT I found it so comforting that you understood me, so maybe that is what I am doing. Let's all keep at it!!!
@veronicapalermo25992 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! Yeah, navigating this is tough and lonely. I haven't tried to convey the "path" I am on to any of my friends because of my own insecurities about how they would react. Only we truly know our motivations for what we do so I don't know if you're seeking validation or not. I will say that in my observation we often hide things from ourselves and that if the idea that a part of this may be about seeking validation resonated with you, that may be worth exploring.

I wonder if the first awakening is something, that like so much of this, varies from person to person. That it manifests differently, in very personal ways. I ask because of when I first got knocked on the head and the world changed. October of 2014, in a playground, keeping an eye on my daughter as she played. For those three hours I checked every thought as it appeared, working diligently to make sure attention stayed in this very moment, never allowed to move. First everything clarified, and grew sharper, more real, more detailed and vibrant. I felt things gradually drop away and things became silent. I felt freed, liberated. There wasn't any clinging or resisting, just allowing everything to be. Finally it was time to leave. As I left the park with my daughter, I noticed that arms and hands came from out of nowhere, and then disappeared as the arms moved forward and back. Out of a spaceless void, and back into the spaceless void. As the mouth opened to speak, words emerged from a bottomless well of nothing. Amazing! This wasn't "my" voice, those weren't "my" arms coming and going. The lights were on, but nobody was home, just a silent observer, and a quiet intelligence that knew what to do when any action was needed, in the absence of a central agent, an "I" or "me". This was how the rest of the evening passed, with this witness watching things come and go, not experiencing difficulties or problems, even as reactions to "bad" or "unpleasant" things arose and passed away (such as my daughter having a tantrum at the dinner table). Nothing has been the same since, even though that deep experience has since passed (although it has come and gone many times since then, and it can be experienced again if certain things are done). Was that first awakening? I don't know, but everything changed since then, even though things are quite ordinary, That moment was a definite line of demarcation of before and after. Before and after what? I have no idea, only before and after. The falseness in how I talk and think about myself showed up after taking the Finders Course in 2019. It still shows up as a difficulty in using words such as "I", "me", etc. It feels like lying. Frequently it only makes sense to refer to this being in the third person. It feels like an extension of the former. Hoping this will eventually deepen and stay persistent. I assume the specifics to what you describe in the segment "Simplicity is Key" are to be found in your book?
