Zdogg, I’m not in the medical community, but I absolutely love your discussions about awakening and consciousness, particularly with Angelo. The two of you have lead me to the awareness and understanding that probably saved my life. I cannot thank the two of you enough, and I will be eternally grateful.

I’ve gotten a glimpse of this twice since being a kid. One lasted a day and one I persisted 4 days. I don’t know how or what I did to get in and out. I’d love to know. I remember those days clearly and long for that experience of reality almost daily. In fact that’s why I’m here.

26:58 "It really just comes down to a sense of just recoiling back into a subjective self to hold the world at a distance and *try to navigate it and think about it, etc. And then we believe that's how we actually live - that's how we cause life to do what life does.* But we don't, it's a holding back and a reflective 'safe place' of the mind." Something about this just makes so much sense.

I've heard "we don't control anything" over and over again, and my needing to control every person and situation stems from some pretty bad things that happened to me when I was very young. If I think something is beyond my control I become very scared likely stemming from my unconscious mind thinking more bad things will happen if I can't control everything, or at least quickly escape any situation I can't control. So I've spent alot of time exploring the nature of control, but since supposedly control is an illusion for me, who or what is controlling things? If it's not me and it's not you, then who? I'd say control is focused application of will towards some sort of object, but I also have heard that objects aren't real and are just an illusion. I know this on an intellectual level. A long time ago I realized, well deduced actually, that the only thing that can exist is the all, whatever label we choose to attach to it. So I understand all is one in a logical, Boolean, "if then" kind of way but I've had no direct experience of it. Like I said above I'm having a difficult time accepting that control isn't real because what makes anything happen if not the focused application of will? Is it just my tiny human will controlling anything is an illusion or is chaos, randomness and unconscious action the prime mover? Also, in regards to the "standing wave" idea it kind of ties into a realization I had about a year or two ago. Assuming we exist before we animate these bodies and we exist after we leave them then life is the odd part. We think of anything that exists that isn't in a body as the "other" or the strange when it seems the truth is the opposite.

Thank you for this straight forward discussion of an important topic we're just barely starting to touch on in the west. One interesting blocker that comes up for me is the narrative mind's ability to co-opt an awakening experience and turn it into a story about "me" and "my awakening" and "how amazing it was" and "I've worked hard to get to this experience". The narrative mind will weave a net of words around your awakening experience, but what results is a false representation of that experience. Indulging this can lead one back into confusion.

Someone said many years ago that religion is for ppl who need it. Idn see it that way when I was younger bc I grew up in a strong Catholic community and it was our training however as an adult, I can see some truth to that statement. I’m no longer affiliated with any religion and see it as a crutch for some ppl (not all) who are barely hanging on and that’s ok. Life can be difficult and we need all the help we can get to survive. Finding your “tribe” and sticking with it can heal broken hearts.

Amazing listen, as always. Thanks gents! I will reflect with ruthless authenticity as to whether these barriers show up in my experience. Cursory thinking - surrendering deeply to spontaneity from fear of being an asshole or not being validated is definitely one. And sidenote, absolutely YES children authenticate presence. That made me jolt out of my seat in approval too Zubin 😂 Whenever I'm really coming from that place, all of a sudden children light up like Christmas trees and love being around me. The contrary - of being caught on the thought train - it's always the complete opposite. So fking true.

I think I've done some of this years ago. Initially I learned to not fear or be ashamed of myself and accept my mind for what it is. I'm not sure where I would fall on this journey to awakening, or maybe I'm already there... Some of how you describe the human condition seems to alien to me at this point. I've had a peace for many years and i feel a similarity to being awake.. but also I could go further.

📌It's actually our natural healthy state of being if we grew up in a respectful loving and not corrupted way. Everyone is special by nature because everyone is unique by nature. You just have to unfold yourself on the basis of respect and appreciation aka love to become and experience the uniquely beautiful person you are in connection with others and the world. Also not being afraid of your natural vulnerability as a living human being and not denying, hiding or trying to escape from it makes you actually stronger, brave and gives you the ability to live and experience the real beauty and quality of live.

Fun to watch you guys, being on the same wavelength, enjoying "inside" jokes. In 2020 I had an "awakening" using edibles. I had never used med Mary before. It was AWESOME!! I got soo much information. I felt so amazingly.. distant from myself but more myself than I have ever been. I felt no fear whatsoever. That lasted about a week. Then it slowly dwindled until I was in the worst depression of my life. Tiny decisions would throw me into a HUGE fight or flight panic attack. It was like I got a taste of being awake but had to go back and root out and deal with all the fears built up in my body. I am now teetering on the edge. A few days ago I was right there but chose not to leap. My reasoning, and yes, I know it is not true, but I did not want to not be this me anymore, quite yet.

if you feel like accomplishing this then go and act on it, the best way for this feeling to transform into what your saying on no attainments is to do it and see for yourself. Principle obstacle is overreliance on Awakening videos rather than transcending the mind directly. No problem. Access "Mahamritunjaya mantra - Sacred Sounds Choir" and listen to it for 5 min per day for at least two weeks. This is the foremost Shiva mantra from the Rig Veda. Manjushri in the Surangama Sutra states "They [practitioners] only need the practice of the faculty of hearing for them to break through to Enlightenment". .

Oh, boy. I so want to understand (if not participate in) what you are talking about. I listen, or try to listen, to all these interviews, and talks by others such as Dr. Rick Hanson, but... I just don't get it. I was that kid in school with high aptitude tests and straight A's until I got to seventh-grade algebra, which was like that record-scratch sound to my brain. At that age, my brain said, WTF do I care what 1/2 xy is? Unlike most kids I loved geometry, because I could see what the angles and surfaces were. Algebra, though? My brain did not compute. Sometime into my mid-20s I finally understood; I think I needed life experience to understand what X and Y were substituting for. I'm in my 50s now and maybe when I'm 70 I'll finally need/want/understand this awakening stuff. Or not! I feel pretty satisfied with my life to this point, so maybe I don't "need" this and therefore can't see it. But I'm the curious type and am open to the idea of it.

It is not one’s job to be thoughtless. You should consider everything you do!Being thoughtless, is like the blink of an eye, its a reflex, not a action but a reaction! Sudden reactions get people hurt including self. That’s why tight steering is built into the fast cars to keep you from getting hurt or hurting someone else. The thoughts in your brain are spirits and your the soul which is the king or ruler of a whole kingdom that lives in your mind/brain. If you loose control the body becomes the thoughtless one and does as it pleases until war breaks out and causes things similar to seizures.

I do not now believe in such a thing as “ego”. What the word ego seems to point to is the automaticity of action-reaction, those innumerable programs or neural pathways that operate us. These programs can be observed, thought and emotion can be seen to arise out of reaction on a subtle or not so subtle level. The sense of identity is such a reflex. With the confirmation of repetition, this seems to be a truer and more helpful line of investigation. Please look, and see if this is not true.
@snakedogman Жыл бұрын
Ego is just a word to point to an identification with thoughts and beliefs I think. A process as you say. There's not a "thing" in your head we can point to and say "look that there is the ego!".

There's a basic reason I don't really bother with this content Z. I've been active in meditation for a bit over 50 years. One of the things I noticed is those who get into it often "awaken" and have the exact same view of what that is supposed to look like. If you're "awake" you just are. If you can describe exactly what that experience is then you're probably not "awake." But, I've been an outcast for many years because I don't agree with the conventional wisdom of what it means to be "awake" and what the experience is "supposed to" be like. Just a bit of wisdom gained through experience. If you tell yourself what's "supposed to happen" it will happen but, that's not true "awakening" it's simply a version of self hypnosis, in my view. Just SIT don't expect anything. JUST SIT!
@damianhardy29652 жыл бұрын
I've been engaged with this content (on Z and Angelo's channel, and I'm reading the book) for a while now, being on my own journey, amd what really draws me to it is that it really doesn't describe what "awake" is. It merely suggests ways to investigate. Has deepened my experience thoroughly, and having tasted it now, there's just no going back. 👌

@@seancasey98 😆 Yes, so the shift started it seems at the end of last year, and then kicked into high gear when I came across Angelo on ZDogg in January. Took me a while to settle down with practice but have recently got into a bit of a rythm. Probably not enough, just half and hour in the mornings. But seems to spill over into daily life with some kind of enquiry carrying on a lot of the time during the day. Started reading Awake in late Jan, and I'm only just getting to the end now! 😆 it's been the slowest read ever and I'm not sure why, sometimes I just don't pick it up for a few days, and then I carry on, often with fresh insight. Go figure. I'm just very grateful for what appears to ongoing ok-ness. Whatever it is, there is no struggle anymore. 🙏
@deborahminkoff75262 жыл бұрын
""" it's simply a version of self hypnosis, in my view.""" Angelo's version of it defintitely seems to be hypnosis. He affects himself differently in these interviews. But, in his own videos, it's broken sentences as if one word is a sentence, (followed by another one-word sentence.). That's classic hypnosis/brainwashing. His channel doesn't seem legit. He affects being zombied out, and channeling something from the other side. Then has all the personality and "thinking" to produce a video per day (and greenscreen effects, choosing an edgy -- clickbaity -- thumbnail). At some point you realize there's two Angelos. The one "teaching" and the one raking it in with clicks/likes/subscribes. You can't deny reality that way. "I'm in a trance... speaking one word. at. a. time." ("Wait, wait... I'm producing a video now, and have all the expert critical skills to make it salable."). It is so obviously not real that it gives real transcendence, awakening a bad name. It's pop-awakening.

A barrier to my awakening was the 21 times I was called by the NYS health dept in the past two weeks (using my cell and home phone) after having gotten COVID, all after my 5 day (really 6) isolation period, and a good percentage after my additional 5 days of required masking. I tried very hard not to freak out and tell anyone off. It was difficult. Another barrier is the shame I feel around getting COVID from my vaccinated mother who got it from a small, ventilated (door open), socially distanced home gathering of triple vaccinated always mask-ers. My mother didn't get the booster, because she got shingles after her second shot which took forever to recover from, and then everyone who got the booster ended up getting COVID over the winter...She's planning to wait until fall. No, this is not a joke or satire. I'm trying to stay sane. Also, I was disinvited from an Easter gathering of vaccinated people who mostly already had COVID after my required isolation was done, but those who had not yet gotten COVID tested positive within days of the gathering anyway. I've been shunned by these people for over two years, even though they came to every pre-pandemic gathering sick, and even came to a Easter gathering in the 80s with chicken pox. Again, trying to stay sane. Oh yeah, now that CVS has my information, they've started sending me reminders to get a COVID shot.

That's how brainwashing works. Listen to Angelo's actual videos. It's one word at a time. That's classic brainwashing technique. "This. Then that. Not. Yes, There. Not there." It's amazing to me he has the following he has.

@deborahminkoff7526 you obviously don't understand. This has nothing to do with the mind. You're projecting your own fear on to something that thousands of traditions have tried to communicate. Buddhism, Advaita Vedanta, Christian Mysticism, Sufism. They all point to the same thing that angelo is pointing to. If you don't want freedom from suffering, that's on you
