Great video. Just FYI for the the viewers: The torque specs for both pulley bolts are 38nm and 40nm for the tensioner bolt. Not overtightening these bolts is extremely important, as stated by the creator.. This is directly from BMW manual for the N54 engine.

Not only did this guy explain the reason for getting the kit which was all the police as well as the tensioner and the belt which all have to be replaced together in order to achieve the life expectancy of the belt and the pulley altogether the same time, this is the first video where I've actually seen somebody such as this mechanic once everything's assembled release the tension on the tensioner and remove the steel pen that is holding the tensioner in place, this is the first video that he did explain in the end what had to be removed in order to start working on the belt tensioner to the belt and the other tension rollers, many kudos to this Hispanic mechanic

Great video - thanks. I've watched it a couple of times and followed along in my engine. Now I have that confidence level where I have no hesitation at all to do the job solo.

Great video.. Better than other videos; very informative. As it should be.. Sadly while removing the fan; the plastic part of the radiator at top was broken. I dont know why BMW makes those radiator ends conectors with plastic instead of aluminum.!

Thank you for great video. Here in UK I need to replace my top water hose that has small leak of coolant onto belt. My belt makes a small shhhp shhhp shhhp sound when engine cold, then goes away when warm. I think some coolant on belt is possible to make this small sound. Anyway thought I'd replace only belt with my hose as engine only done 24k miles, surely the pulleys & tensioner will still be good until next time? I've seen people have replaced belts, tensioner & pulleys at 100k miles at they say pulleys etc were like new.

Hello Fransisco - Just a quick note, FYI. The tool list you provided with the video shows a T50. Shouldn't that be a T60? But you did say T60 in the video. Just saying... Love your videos - I've accomplished so much using them. Keep them coming!

I managed to accomplish the belt replacement by jacking front end, only removing the under engine cover and removing one of the air cross pipe torx screws (loosened the other). I pushed belt down into vicinity from the top and placed it on pulleys etc. from underneath, finishing on top when ready for tensioner. I cut the belt I replaced for easier removal from underneath. My belt squeak and subsequent failure was a result of my power steering pump coming loose (the bottom bolt had actually fallen into the under cover). Must have not tightened it sufficiently when replacing oil pan gasket.

Hi, what torque specs do you use for the pulleys & tensioner?
@petershulick52703 жыл бұрын
By the way if you research you can order the aluminum hose pieces versus plastic just like the filter element unit on top that's plastic they make it an aluminum one that you can replace it with as well

Can you do a video of timing chain
@petershulick52703 жыл бұрын
You can even use Google to translate newton meters into inch pounds and vice-versa depending on the torque wrench or Torque adapter that you're using member by the way you can order the electronic version of the torque adapter

How about a video that shows how to do internal repairs and replace components on a 2008 535i E60 N54 headlight assembly, including how to open the adhesive seal, replace the halo lens, replace ballast, other internal components, and stuff like that. The new ones are impossibly no matter where you look online. And the used ones are very expensive too.

Good chances that the car will have motor failure because of serpentine belt parts been sucked thru main seal in the motor...
