First of all, I want to thank the author of the channel for making this beautiful and useful video for us! Many people are embarrassed to speak a foreign language if they have no speaking skills. People are afraid to hear criticism from others in their address. It all comes from having a psychological complex - to make a mistake. But, after all, he who does nothing is not wrong! In Yuriy Ivantsiv's workshop "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign language" states that we need to talk as much as possible: with yourself, with the mirror, with inanimate objects, with children and with pets. Find an interlocutor in real life or online. Talk without shyness. People won't care how you speak. They understand that you are a foreigner, as long as they understand you. They may even acknowledge your progress in their language and compliment you. However, always be prepared for criticism of your speaking skills. If you have the will to speak, you will gain an interesting interlocutor to consolidate your knowledge. Everyone is strewn with mistakes - don't be afraid to learn from them. As the Latin wisdom says, "walk and thou shalt not go astray". In the book "Polyglot Notes" by Yuriy Ivantsiv an entire chapter is devoted to the development of spoken language. Here you will find many useful tips and each student can choose a technique that suits him or her best! I wish you all the best of luck in your language learning!

@salamiond Жыл бұрын
Dont think this level of fluency/presentation skills is enough for surviving an average UK/US classroom discussion. These language tests should focus more on the content of the speech produced, the candidate's body language and the overall vibes they give, rather than how much vocabulary they have. It is unfair to both local students and international students when you give such a high mark to a person whose communications skills don't suffice to make at least a few acquaintances with locals. Not only is it selling false hopes to these foreign students thinking they can fit into the local cultures, it is also degrading the local quality of education when lecturers/local students have to work around their incompetencies in their English/communication skills

@CH-ce1rm2 жыл бұрын
Bullshit, this is not an example of a 8.5 speaking. 24:05 It always "take"? And you give this guy 9.0 on pronunciation even though he misses the S at the end. 24:12 "be regret" ????? I have never heard anyone says "be regret" in my life. Probably because it's not how you use it. And he scores 8.0 on grammar??? What about 24:37 "because they (short term plans) regulate your life"???? People "regulate" inanimate objects, not the other way around. This is a poor demonstration of word choice. But no, he's vocabulary is PERFECT! 9.0 it is! And what follows that sentence doesn't make sense either: "from being completely messed up" By what or who? You can't just use an expression that requires a following explanation and don't provide. This channel is a joke, completing inflating the scores. This guy is at best a 7. Stop inflating the scores. Natives who speak fluently and adequately can't score 9:kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5WWgaWrpbllrdU What a joke
@IELTSDaily2 жыл бұрын
Hi CH. The exam allows for slips and mistakes (and a level of subjectivity). Your argument doesn't stand if you are alleging we 'inflate' scores, but yet argue that native speakers don't score full marks. If we were in the business of inflating scores, we would have scored Tom band 9.0. You provided some examples of grammatical errors, noted, but that doesn't preclude Jonathan from scoring 8.0. Check the band descriptors GRA band 8.0.
