I want to ask if i can use all caps during the writing exam computer base. This is because i have difficulty in using shift in keyboard and i dont know if that will affect my score if i dont capitalize noun or etc.

Hi @MomoThug5, We recommend you write all your Reading and Listening answers in capitals, so it is clear for the examiner. However, in Computer-delivered IELTS handwriting is not an issue, so you should try to write all words using upper and lower case. However, in the Writing test, it is very important to write Task 1 and Task 2 with correct capitalisation, as punctuation is marked as part of the Grammatical Range and Accuracy criteria.

Is it accepted to use idioms in task 2?

Hi, @user-yt1mu8yz7g! Idiomatic language is informal, so it is best to avoid it in your essays for the Writing section. However, if you are writing an informal letter to a friend in IELTS Writing Task 1 (General), then it is fine. It is also okay to use idiomatic language in your speaking test. The only thing to make sure of is the context of the phrase is right.

Hi @TosinElizabeth-hh9rg, Pencil is recommended for the IELTS Listening, Reading, and Writing tests. This is because tests are scanned and work best with pencil. It also means that you can easily erase and rewrite words. If you forget to bring a pencil, the test centre will provide one for you.
