If all the canonical readings were from Muhammad then why are they indivually a mixture of dialects?

No copy was sent forth without a qāriʾ (reciter). These included Zaid b. Thābit to Madinah, ʿAbdullāh b. aṣ-ṣāʾib to Makkah, al-Mughīra b. Shihāb to Syria, ʿĀmir b. ʿAbd Qays to Baṣra and Abū ʿAbdur-Raḥmān as-Sulamī to Kūfa.

It was neither promoted nor prohibited by Prophet Muhammad pbuh to mix up multiple readings but it was his companions who later standardized it when they saw non-Arabs unable to understand it. And scholars later adopted and solidified this view by strictly limiting people from mixing up the readings. Different qirat from the fixed qirats standardized by the scholars have been popular across time and geography. Now what is most common is just one of those qirats recited by Imams in Makkah... This all does not make it problematic for Muslims to prove preservation of the Qur'an at all. All qirats/recitations go back to prophet Muhammad pbuh. We don't have Mark Mathew Luke issues alhamdulillah

According to this hadith the dialects of the readings, even if they are different from one another, should be Quraishi as the rasm was written in the style of the Quraish. Why aren't any of the readings 100% Quraishi? sunnah.com/bukhari:4984

@@inquisitivemind007It's not a hadith of the Prophet. It's a hadith concerning what happened during Uthman's collection. The rasm is consistent with the Quraysh dialect. Meaning whenever different dialectical readings can cause a difference in the rasm, Uthman told them to choose the Qurayshi form. But not all dialectical variations have a different rasm. So different dialectical variants which shared the same rasm survived. If the point you're making is to undermine the hadith in question, well, I'm pretty sure Van Putten tries to argue for its authenticity in his book. There's a difference between Uthman wanting to write the Qur'an in the dialect of the Quraysh and the Prophet himself approving dialectical variation.

@@alfiras8604 Hi Firas, thanks for your feedback. As an analogy, so anyone reading this can follow, if we say that the Prophet of Islam and his companions were British then I expect the Holy Book to be written in English with British distinctions e.g. the word colour not color being written etc. which, as you mentioned, the rasm is tailored for the Qurayshi dialect. I would also expect the canonical readings to be either British or if some of them are to accommodate different regions then to be in different dialects too like Scottish or Irish as the Prophet could have approved a particular dialect. What isn’t conceivable is all of the canonical readings to be a mixture of a British/Scottish dialect or British/Irish dialect or Irish/American dialect etc. No one speaks alternating their dialects and if anyone claims they did then kindly tell us the name of the village/region and the classical books of grammar that tell us that they did. From what Marijn is saying, all of the canonical readings are mixed dialects which means it’s impossible for it to have been either recited by Muhammad or approved by him. Unless evidence is shown, no one spoke with a mixed dialect.

@@inquisitivemind007my old account was deleted by I have debunked this already…read the Arabic of the Hadith… Second do you know about dialectical exceptions? Like how we have spelling exceptions there are dialectical exceptions..for an example. How we spell “knife” but it makes an N sound so this is an exception same with dialects Van Putin like to generalize specific examples For an example in his hamza didn’t exist in the hijaz. Where in his paper he says “let’s just generalize this to all of hijaz” 🤨really this is western academia?

The mystery, of how the Quran was conceived and how it evolved to the present state, continues till today. And may be it'll never be solved to the satisfaction of all people

as such it is a miracle from Allah for all mankind of ALL nations to understand in one language, one voice and in ONE meaning, without any contradictions, confusions, interpretations. You may correctly say Quran evolved but Muslims themselves will contradict. Of course Quran is still stuck in the 17th century, as it was written for that era and for the society of the authors of Quran, and an outdated book as people have moved on to accept the diversity, and tolerance of mankind. We have moved on from, 'mine is the ONLY way' hence you are 'either with us' or 'with them' mentality, or perhaps, 'embrace or face the consequence right here', to show to the others how we deal with the deniers.

@@reynoldsbeng3756 It's a historical book fixated at the seventh century ad milieu and was meant for a few tribes of Arabia fighting against the others. It's very much a product of it's time, conceived by a few men who participated in it's making as narrators, editors and compilers. To attribute miracles or divinity to the book, is at one own emotional risk.
