A friend of mine witnessed a tree fall in Stanley Park just two weeks ago. I can show you exactly where it happened. It was hauntingly beautiful and caught us both completely by surprise. We were in complete awe as it began to snap, crackle, and pop before our very eyes. We were actually chatting about how trees are great places to stash things rather than hiding items in the ground or at eye level. Then this massive tall one just plummets a few feet away from us. I imagine the others in the same area and of the same height will soon do the same?

Sad... we did a lovely wander through the park a few years back and tried to measure the trunks to see how old they were. It was fascinating and awe inspiring to know these giants were here long before us.

Ah, birds I might add do snap top growth which produces the Y form, fairly common.

Normal life cycle. I’ve seen thousands of that size red cedar on the ground when I worked as a timber cruiser. It will stay sound wood for hundreds of years

It's important to note that he kept repeating the word "drought". We're losing our climate due to de-forestation. It's important, not only plant more trees, but to keep the oldest trees going for as long as we can. There's enough resources already in existence that, if we re -use and re-cycle, we don't have to keep destroying trees. And maybe we don't have to keep killing trees to print junk mail! Use other ways to reach your customers! Thank you for this report!
