8:00 I'm so glad you included this as an example sentence because I came to this video specifically to try and figure out which grammar form to use to say "when I was a kid" or "when I was young" and then it just turned out to be an example lol

Hi Billy! I don't know if you still check the comments for the older videos, but I wanted to know the most appropriate form when talking about habits. Like 배달 시키면(시킬 때?), 기다리며 침대에 누워
@GoBillyKorean3 жыл бұрын
It wouldn't matter if you're talking about a habit, or something else - the differences between the two forms are as the video explains. You can use either, depending on what you're talking about specifically. I also recommend checking out the full un-edited version of this live stream (if you have time) which goes slower and gives more examples of their differences.

I see, thanks a lot for the response! Will definitely check the full version later

Hi Hi thank you for sharing. I'm teaching Korean too , and I'm a natvie Korean speaker. your video is really helpful. Cuase I learn some English expression what I need, Appreciated much. I just kind of want to share with you. " 공부할 때는 우리 못 만나요" sounds natural.I have no idea why though" you know languge is not math. CHeers
@GoBillyKorean4 ай бұрын
Yes, because 때 means "time" so that means "the time" when studying happens ("when studying"), so it's natural :) And welcome!

Billy, all of your lessons are much appreciated. Please can I ask that when you start rattling through examples that you don't go too fast - you tend get quite excited!! :o) Also, do you have a clip mic coz when you turn towards the board you become quieter / less clear. Many thanks, 영국에서 인사드립니다.

I’m always tempted to say these are beyond my level but I’m actually learning stuff! Trying to make some of my own sentences (I’m only 3 and a half minutes in so far) - does “시간할 때 읽어 보세요.” make sense? Edit: wait that could translate to “at the time when you have time” lolll nice Edit 2: now I got to 4:50 and you’re not using 하다 with 시간 welp Last edit lol: Okay, 시간이 있을때 읽어 보세요. Better??
@GoBillyKorean5 жыл бұрын
You used 하다 ("to do") with 시간, when I think you meant to say "to have time" which would use 있다 ("to exist") - not 하다.

Can 시간이 있으면 also be used to say 'if time permits', or is it not time that is doing the permitting in Korean?
@GoBillyKorean6 ай бұрын
Literally it only means "If time exists," so it's basically just "If you have time" or "If I have time." You can translate that however you'd like, but nothing will translate 1:1 :)

전화주세요? Shouldn't it be 전화해 주세요?
@GoBillyKorean5 жыл бұрын
전화주세요 is like "Give me a call" while 전화해 주세요 is like "Please call (me)" but both have the same meaning in this context.
