Well, I'm watching this on my 10-year old single-core CPU Linux machine with 3GB of RAM, and I'm running the latest version of Mint (ie., I'm running a modern, up-to-date system, and not some older version), and I'll probably only need to replace my computer once some of the crucial hardware decides to kick the digital bucket. Linux can outperform quite a lot that Mac and Windows have to offer, on a fraction of their horsepower. And yes, Steam is really steaming up on Linux! Also, Android is literally Linux's sibling sooooo, yeah :)

The challenge Linux has always had and still does is that Linux is too nerdy and technical for the mass population. So the average computer user finds it hard to learn and use. And there are so many flavors of Linux many just settle for RedHat since that's the one they hear about the most. Linux is good for high performance, with low specs, but you need to have some know-how to use and maintain Linux. Advances have been made to make it more user-friendly, but Linux has had much difficulty going mainstream and making a dent in the market. It still amazes me that people still use Windows crap, with all its faults. Talk about the lemming mentality. This is why so much of the industry makes money troubleshooting and fixing Windows problems.

I have both OS and i use them daily. If specs really matter then every new dslr camera that has under 36 mpx would be outdated vs the nikon d800(the D810 is the newer one) just because they are using less megapixels than a camera from many years ago, do u get me? i'm not exactly sure i agree with your sentiment. I use ultrabooks + high end phones. Apple currently takes the cake for both in terms of battery life & performance (on their laptops). Their SOC on their 6s plus is the king right now too.

I have a MacSE I've owned for 13+ years and it still works. I owned a Performa 6115CD (more geared to families and students) for about 6 years and it was still working fine before I replaced it (read: gave it to a family friend who needed a working and reliable computer) with a newer system, I've owned PowerMac G4/400 and PowerMac G4/Dual 500's for 10+ years and they still work fine. Bear in mind with the average Windows PC user, they're likely to replace their system every 2 years, so the costs rack up rather quickly. And with the changes to the WindowsOS, the games you play will only be backwards compatible for so long, before you have to either re-buy the game to make it compatible, wait for a patch to make it compatible, or pay to upgrade your copy of Windows to a version of Windows that has sufficient driver and game update support to play satisfactorily. By the end of your PC ownership, you have already paid for a Mac in full, and beyond. Don't even get me started on the additional cooling required to make a decent Gaming PC. You'll need to buy extra fans or extra fancy gear to make sure the CPUs and graphics cards don't fail on you. In order to afford a decent gaming Windows PC, expect to shell out at least $2500 when you factor all the custom parts. When it comes to gaming I do have to give credit to the fact the graphic cards market caters heavily to the Windows users, almost always providing faster and greater amounts of video graphics RAM than counterparts designed for Macs. Beyond this, with PCs, you're spending countless hours troubleshooting problems on it, trying to get it to work, removing viruses and malware; meanwhile, the Mac user is actually USING their Mac.

How is the hardware lightyears behind the competiton (talking about the iPhone 6s)? Explain pls. 6s finally catched up with 2GB RAM instead of 1, sure, finally, that's where they were lightyears behind, because multitasking sucks with 1GB RAM (AND NO, APPLE DOESNT USE MAGIC TO MAKE 1GB FEEL LIKE 101235'128354'13589GB, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT, STUPID APPLE FANBOY). The processor is NOT a cortex core, these are cores created by Jim Keller that worked with Apple till the chipdesign was finished. And the chip is a whole lot different than you would see from ARM Cortex chipdesigns. It might have less cores but STRONGER cores, much bigger and stronger cores. Look at the benchmarks, it's true. 1 such core easily beats 3-4 weak ARM Cortex cores. Uh... Yeah it has NFC but it doesn't use the NFC for... NFC tags or similar, actually the only function it has is Applepay. So that's a drawback... I don't have to talk about the rest of the hardware... It's NOT lightyears behind the competition for sure. It had and still have some hickups (RAM not an issue anymore, NFC only has one function...) I'm NOT an Apple fanboy nor do I desire to own any of that stuff. I don't like Apple as well. But, the problem is, you have and share the wrong information, Gaming Wildlife.

"low resolution". The resolution is just fine. If anything, all the 1440p screens are TOO HIGH resolution for almost 0 benefits, but more drawbacks such as higher battery power consumption. Though, about battery, the 6(s) (the regular 6, not plus) battery is too small and isn't enough for a full day of powerusing. So this is actually... besides that iPhones run on iOS and I hate that a lot, it's probably my only complaint so far...

*cough* Phones with the same price range as the iPhone 6S have average of 4GB ram, octa/hexa/quad core variants, 2160x1440 display (450+ PPI) wirh High-end snapdragon processors. iPhone 6S's display is on par with the Galaxy S3 which came about 4 years ago. and It's hardware is pretty much like the S4, which was announced 3 years ago.

Wakee Sevilla Nope, nope, nope. You have no idea about the Apple AX SoC when you start talking about core count. Srsly. Did you see how strong one core from the Apple AX SoC is? Ever since 5s, 1 core of that is just as strong as 3 ARM Cortex cores. So a dual core Apple AX is round about as strong as 6 ARM Cortex cores (that have to be high clocked. Snapdragon 615/616 are 6 cores but weaker than the Apple SoC)... So fuck Hexa or Quad Core variants, they don't do jackshit. Only Octa wins by a small amount that JUST DOESN'T MATTER. Display doesn't matter. The resolution of every iPhone since they introduced "Retina" is more than enough. More will look slightly better but that comes with the cost of higher power usage and iPhones lack batterylife. So it's just more balanced really. I don't see why you would need 1440p on a 5.5" phone when 1080p is more than enough and 720p is kinda ALRIGHT. RAM was a big issue. Now that you can get 2GB RAM iPhones it isn't a big deal anymore... I'd like 3 more, but yeah, it's whatever... No srsly. You have no clue at all.

I like Apple products to an extent, even though I don't own any. I really appreciate how nice they make there stuff look. It's because of them that other companies are starting to make laptops/phones out of premium materials. Until recently every windows laptop has been ugly as sin, but they saw how much Apple fans appreciated aesthetics with good build quality and started copying them. The new Surface Book, we can thank Apple, the new all metal Nexus phone, and especially the Galaxy s6, we can thank Apple. If I was buying a laptop I would probably go with a Macbook pro, even though it would just be for web browsing and word processing, I rather have something really nice looking made out of metal, than something god awful looking like a Chromebook or an HP Stream.

people have done tests on the new galaxy s8(which is the same price as an iPhone) and the iPhone 6s(which came out two years ago). Despite the s8 being two years newer and having much better specs than the 6s, the 6s matches and sometimes even surpasses the s8 in performance and ram management , once again, despite the 6s being released in 2015. Yes the s8 looks a lot better but it's kinda sad a two year old iPhone can still compete with it and sometimes surpass it in performance
