Watching these masons working is fascinating! The amount of talent it takes to build a house using building blocks like those massive boulders is staggering. Really warms my heart to know people with their skillset are still around in my country. Can't wait for more updates on the main building... You lads are gonna have such wonderful home! I've come to the conclusion that it must be that Badger was a tradesman too, and also that you have 3 kids that need a solid house to be in. Great progress Scotters! Have you considered a boot room between the kitchen and car park area that includes your laundry? So much better than a laundry in the bathroom and a boot room is a great drop zone!

How wonderful to start seeing progress again! Not knowing anything about construction, all this looks very intimidating! The sheer size of the stones (or boulders) boggles the mind. When my mother was having her house built, the digger was pulling out these massive boulders. My mother, God bless her, asked the digger if he would mind moving the boulders "just over here and pile them together"? After looking at her like she'd lost her mind, he shrugged and pushed them around as best as he could. One or two rivaled the size of her car!!!! To this day, some 43 years later, they stand as testament to my mother's craziness.

Love watching your builders, awesome. What a fantastic house you will have. Are you putting in a septic tank? Can't remember if you showed the roof line for the bathroom? Looking at the photos I wondered if you raised the roof height of the snug to the same height as the other side if you could add a cat slide roof continuing over the bathroom with a velux on the rear for extra light. Or if you could get enough height to have a small room over the bathroom accessed from the snug with a window overlooking that beautiful view - would make a fab study/studio/guest room. ❤

Wow! Those guys are amazing! They never panic…well not that we can tell! Lol. It is neat to see that there are still workers that know/understand the rock! They must be “Rock Whispers!” That man on the digger is so agile with the various extensions where the bucket goes. He can affect the tiniest change necessary or hold a rock in place while another man positions/fills in what is necessary! It will be so nice to move into the house, won’t it? this is amazing watching them put these huge stones together into a building! I think the old & new will look fabulous together & that crimson bath set you got will certainly stand out in the stone grey, both buildings are slightly different in colour, it's as if one has been weathered longer than the other ; are you putting stone down for the floors too? getting curious as to how they fill in all those gaps.... am looking forward to these every week, am so glad you're saving the old house & incorporating it into the new build; very talented men too, stone masonry is a dying art over here thanx for sharing

Build with new treated lumber the trusts and the rest of the roof, because the most important part of a life of a building is the roof built proper and of course no leaks that damage the inside anywhere. I wondered also of the old structure wall in the corner next to the new bathroom with those rocks not really straight and protude into the new bathroom area, if that is going to be straightened and properly vertically leveled. Hopefully you are already thinking about that too.
