Short answer: Y E S. If the American people werent worried about corporate oligarchy, the democrats would never have had to deal with the mass distrust there was in Hillary. If that distrust was never there, the entire campaign would have been a victory lap for Bernie Sanders.

Also check out the very complicated way elections can be easily changed by adding decimal points to the numbers. Undoubtedly. During the "Democratic" Primaries, Bernie Sanders had 70% of Independents, 40% of Democrats, and 5% of Republicans. Mind you, Independents are 43% of voters, Democrats are 28% (likely less after the Primary fallout), and Republicans are 26%. That's a *massive* amount of people. Both parties NEED Independents in order to win. Most Independents were blocked from voting in the Democrat Primary due to closed primaries, and even in so-called "open" primaries, their votes were being thrown in the garbage via provisional ballots. That kind of voter suppression wouldn't of worked during the General Election, which is a true "Open" election. Trump's greatest strength, was the Independents, which Bernie would've taken from him. It's why all the polls during the Primaries had Bernie Sanders curb stomping Trump, while they already showed that Hillary would struggle with Trump. When DWS and the DNC colluded with Hillary to coronate her as Empress as early as 2014, they destroyed any chance they had of winning the election in 2016. Donald Trump, brought to you by DWS, Hillary and the DNC.
Sigh. Now the real work begins. Best of luck to the all marginalized groups in the states. Hopefully this win is a catalyst for more rebellion and protest.

Bernie Sanders not only made me excited about politics for the first time, ever, he also inspired my millennial son and his girlfriend! My two neighbors - who both voted for Trump - told me that if Bernie had been on the ballot they would have voted for him! While Bernie and Trump had many similarities, they also had many differences. Bernie's remarks made SO much sense! He spoke TO the people in a manner that let them know he actually cared about them/their lives. Bernie did not spew racial or bigoted epitaphs. He simply had several meaningful and uplifting 'conversations' (rallies) with regular people - in a campaign that accepted NO corporate or Super Pac money. Above all, his message was positive and inspired hope in SO many people, myself included. Yes - people - if the Democrats had put Bernie on the ballot, I do think this would have been close to a landslide election - in favor of Bernie. But all the Democrats cared about was securing positions for their elitist friends on Wall Street and the media - and for themselves. They have now paid dearly for their holier-than-thou decision. And as much as I despise the idea of a Trump presidency, maybe this is precisely the shake-up the Democratic Party needed for the people to take back their Party and give the boot to all of the current, elitist, corporate 'leaders'.

Stop voting for them. It should be obvious to everyone that the only way to improve this country is to get more "major parties." Because the two we have just aren't doing to well.
@TheUnspokenAlias8 жыл бұрын
Fine, but don't start thinking that will solve every problem. Just look at Western countries with a coalition model : each party of the coalition has to make compromises too, and in the long run their voters get fed up as well. The reign of the two-party system should come to an end, but for a more fundamental reason : simply because it's antidemocratic (commission on presidential debates, etc.). Ranked voting seems the first logical step in that direction...

That's what I as a German can't really understand. I was also hoping for Sanders to make it to the presidential election and eventually even to the presidency, but from what I heard and seen, many people who actually don't like Trump, voted for him because they think Hillary was even worse than him, maybe also because they actually were Sanders supporters and wanted their vote to be some kind of "protest vote" against the political establishment. We had similar protest voters in Europe at the Brexit voting and in many parliamental elections, so will there be in Germany next year, when the far right party "Alternative for Germany" will definitely make it into the parliament. BUT: Are these the calls for mashing up the establishment? By voting for nationalists or billionaires???? That's what I won't be able to understand. EVER.
