They asked a lab worker in the docs interview of them that exact question and why they didn't say anything if they knew it was impossible, his answer was something like " we all knew it was bullshit, but apparently nobody in Silicon valley thought it was a good idea to ask us"... In the table game board community, yes sure there are some projects that won't be completed or took forever but mostly it has allowed the whole hobby to free itself from the big publishers like Hasbro and have come up with amazing games! Gone are the days where you had to choose between yet another re-themed Monopoly, Clue, Hungry Hippos or Uno game. So at least in this hobby, it has been totally worth it! Yeah, this one bothers me. Like somebody at *Cracked* got burned, so they're painting with very broad strokes on this process. My daughter co-founded a gaming company, and it has become hugely successful as a result of crowdfunding. They put out many games over the years, and now they've got the licensing to make a tabletop role-playing game for *Avatar The Last Airbender.* This video gives the impression that investors are legit, and crowdfunding is not. But crowdfunding provides the license holder, like CBS in the case above, to have a project move forward without putting any of their money into it. It's a smart move on their part, and provides an opportunity for those like my daughter's company. And it's a fantastic way to know if you have enough customers interested in your project before you even get started. And if you don't meet your goal, then you don't waste money producing something that may not sell.
@VakuAdikaia2 жыл бұрын
@@CaesiusX oh, I backed that one! Very excited for it! I’m sure you’re very proud of her. Like you said, without Kickstarter/game found, these projects would never see the light of day, because they would be shot down by some out-of-touch brand exec. At least this way, they have a chance

I have contributed to one go fund me account over the years. It was for a young woman who had been told by former teachers that she would never amount to anything. Well she fooled them. She received a bachelors degree in Ontario and was then awarded a partial scholarship at Harvard to gain a masters degree in her field. Two years later she had her masters and had received a full scholarship from Harvard to get her doctorate. Not all people asking for funding are scammers but you have to be careful.
@Not_Always2 жыл бұрын
Going to college a few times can't exactly be considered "amount to anything" since anyone can go to college. Does she have a job? Lmao
@oh8wingman2 жыл бұрын
@@Not_Always I don't know where you live but here in Canada anyone can attend college where you can attain a diploma but not just anyone can go to University where you attain a degree. You have to have the prerequisite marks to gain entrance for University. As far as employment is concerned, I really do not know. However, if one has the drive and ability to receive a PHD I am reasonably sure that finding a position with a company or the Government would be fairly easy.
@Not_Always2 жыл бұрын
@@oh8wingman I live in the US. College and University are terms that are used interchangeably, and colleges and universities both give out degrees. Hell, our 2-year community colleges (that are practically free but incredibly cheap) give out degrees. You can also get into a university of any kind and get a post-grad degree and if you already have that 2-year community college degree, you don't need to attain test scores and your GPA only has to be a C average or 2.0. It is not a hard thing and in 2021 nothing your friend did would be or is considered impressive. Also, as an FYI, Ph.D. students typically get their time paid for because PhDs are largely research, and there are funding and fellowships for that. So...not impressive.

The majority of computer games I funded on Kickstarter came out on Steam and I'm very satisfied with them. The rare few that didn't, were scams. I was very disappointed with that. I never kickstarted anything except games and entertainment related things. I have been enjoying this stuff so far. I am also thinking that crowd funding sites like Kickstarter need to be more proactive in rooting out scams from real endeavors. Your video is still pretty accurate on some level. As much as I've enjoyed most things I've helped fund as its come to fruition, there is no telling how much stuff is a waste of money and a rip off.

Same. It's produced some really unique games. So much of the AAA market is the same thing over and over again. I understand why the big studios play it safe but it's great we can have something different too.

Unfortunately majority of the people on those sites are just trying to get free money. Which sucks for the real people that actually have the intention of making a product. Plunderlings are a kickstarter and did release an actual product once they got the funds so not everyone is bad or evil but majority of them are crazy and evil.

Only upside is losing less money. One project for hundreds of dollars went ok and I got a durable phone. Another project for like $30 disappeared into thin air.

@@3nertia for instance I'm thinking of limited run merch. Where the creator has the art, color codes and everything ready to go. Things were money is the last and only step a creator needs help with. The farther away from a product the "bigger" the project is because more moving parts are involved. Compare "I literally just need the money to pay the manufacturer everything else is decided" vs "we need concept artists. Music talent, voice actors, a full script ectra" This vastly increases the chances that it will actually product a product that backers will see.

The guys who got rid of all the old Cracked actors are not the same people that currently run it. The guys who currently run Cracked are trying to bring it back closer to where it was before the middle company gutted it. In other words, there were the Cracked owners that got everything awesome, who sold to the people who gutted the platform, who sold to the current guys.
@FFKonoko2 жыл бұрын
1. They brought him back almost the entire year ago. They also had swaim on as a guest. 2. There is no "Cracked" that did that and then changed their mind. The company was gutted, Jordan breeding voluntarily took over the channel, was clearly a big fan of the old videos and is doing their best. 3. Let it go. People whining about after hours on literally every single cracked video was the worst thing about the cracked KZbin channel in the past. It was a good show. Alright. Not everything can be that. Those videos required larger productions, longer scripts and the actors involved are not available. Swaim himself tried to make a new version of after hours on his channel, so you can go see how that went.
