I don't like how ppl think Cinderella just waited for a man to save her. The Prince didn't save her, the mice technically rescued her, but she was the one smart enough to keep the glass slipper, she never complained how crap her life was, she was so positive and kind to everyone, so Cinderella isn't as reliant on men as ppl think she is
@Furienna9 жыл бұрын
Indeed, this video is based on people's misconceptions of the Disney princesses. Cinderella did NOT just wait for a man to save her. She wasn't even looking for a relationship at that point in her life, she only wanted one night off from all her work. But we also have Jasmine being stupid enough to try becoming a thief, Belle wanting a man she can "fix", Pocahontas refusing to eat what she hasn't picked herself in the forrest, and Aurora falling asleep all over the place. There might be some truth to some of these misconceptions, but it seems like the people who actually believe in this never watched the movies properly.
@Furienna9 жыл бұрын
***** If that is the case, those people should really watch the movies again to see how wrong they were. And I am still not sure if the people behind this video actually believe in these misconceptions, or if they're just making fun of them.

Cinderella wasn't waiting for a man to save her. She just wanted to go to a ball, what happened to Cinderella was the equivalent of winning free tickets to a big Bruno Mars concert with an open bar and free food and Bruno falling in love with you. And how exactly is a woman in 16th century Europe supposed to strike out on her own? She was literally a slave to her family until marriage.
@dani010203stor9 жыл бұрын
that's right, people are very unfair with Cinderella. They have to bear in mind the TIME where it was made. She actually did the best with what she had at that time, and opened the doors for the future princesses..

Lol... this is why Mulan is and was always my favorite princess. She put her life on the line to save her father. Her goal was not to be dependent on a man or find a man, but to save them. There was almost no prince/princess love the *entire* movie... because he though she was a man.... But the plot was so sweet. In my opinion, those are the best stories because they have people you can look up to and say you want to be like them without coming across as selfish or bratty in any way.
@justakid79915 жыл бұрын
This depiction of Cinderella was so unfair, it was basically blaming a victim of abuse for not being able to escape their terrible family and ignores Cinderella's strength, staying nice, optimistic and a free-spirit despite all the psychological trauma.

I hate how everyone is commenting all butt-hurt saying every princess needs a guys to save them blah blah. Mulan, Merida (from Brave), and Anna didn't need a man to save them, they either saved themselves or had another woman save them. AND not all princess are brats, sure at first most of them are, but most of them change by the end. For example: Rapunzel, Arora, and Belle where no brats at all during their respective films. And for the Record, Elsa was not the first Disney Princess who didn't rely on a man, because: 1.She's a Queen, not a princess 2.Mulan was actually first at having no man save her, and in my opinion her movie was better than Elsa's.

Disney Princesses being helpless? Tiana started her own independent business and worked for it, Belle rescued her father and preferred reading to being courted by men, Merida chose to fight for her own hand in marriage rather than be auctioned off, Mulan saved her entire country nearly singlehandedly, Elsa fought for herself and her sister, Pocahontas saved John Smith from death and saved her people from slaughter, Rapunzel saves Flynn multiple times and her journey is a quest for freedom, not for a man. And yeah, I'm not denying Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White were the opposite of independent but their movies were made in the mid twentieth century so...

I hateeeee it when people take something from childhood specifically for girls and some how translate it into "sexism". Cinderella never wanted a man to save her she wanted a good night out of the slave she was. Jasmine just followed Aladdin because it was love at first site for her and on top of that she just a side character who seems to have a lot of attention because the movie she's from is entitled "alladin" not jasime. Belle was an example of tolerance for others. In fact none of these princess actually asked for a prince to save them at all it just happened to be that handsome men fell in love with them. I personally think the romance aids a huge amount of the dream like aspects of these princess. I never realized that people make sarcastic and sexsist remarks to Disney princess as much as they do to barbie.....

Pocahontas doesn't do things solely for love but for her people, mulan does it for his parent, rapunzel doesn't change for him, she just happens to have a male companion. Belle also sacrifices for her father. Not to mention merida from brave and elsa. Cinderella and snow white are the oldest princesses so yeah, they to follow the imperative and mentality of their decades.

If you believe that the moral of the little mermaid was to Change for a man you are obviously immature and lack ability to be positive. The moral was that they loved each other and didn't care what it took to be together. Also, Cinderella was not looking for a prince/man to save her... She just wanted a break and a chance to be a real woman for one night. Beauty and the Beast was about how love can change you for THE BETTER and bring out all your good characteristics. I'm ashamed in people who say these things about Disney movies and fairytales. They just have to be negative about every single one of them. Also, people who think Frozen (as much as I do love the movie) was the first to teach you that a man is not always who saves you haven't paid enough attention to the story line of Pocahontas, Brave, Princess and the Frog, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, Lion King, and so many more Disney classics.
@jennygreat484610 жыл бұрын
The little Mermaid They "loved" each other, but they did not know ANYTHING about each other. She couldn't talk the whole damn time. He just saw a beautiful girl and wanted to sweep her off her feet and they literally got married right after that. That's not love honey; That's lust. Also Cinderella WAS looking for a prince to save her. In the original she wished that once she went to the ball, that the prince would choose her. She did not like her family and that was her only chance of getting out. other than that I agree with beauty and the beast and that frozen was not the first to teach that you didn't need a man (it was just the one that was direct about it other than brave)
@kelseyalbright487110 жыл бұрын
Maybe it was lust a good part of the movie, but they did fall in love eventually. However, even if it was lust that does not make the moral of the story " Change for your Man", honey. & In Cinderella she had a dream of being noticed, as she never was, but at the end of the night.. she just wanted to feel/be treated like she wasn't just a maid. She was not intentionally going to be saved/chosen by the Prince. But I do agree that part of her was hoping to fall in love and get out if the situation she was in.
@Katspearl10 жыл бұрын
Jennifer Gregory Also, Ariel had liked human things for a really long time and she was unhappy with her father. I would say it's more the situation of being human compelled her and Eric led her to finding it.
@hannahmarie45010 жыл бұрын
Kelsey Albright she saw a man for all of three seconds and decided to abandon everyone who loves her because MAYBE he might like her eventually? That's desperate and stupid, not some wonderful love story. Only loving someone for their looks on both of their parts, how shallow.
@kelseyalbright487110 жыл бұрын
Hannah Marie Some people see things way to negatively. I'm not one to believe in love at first sight.. But it is nice to think it could exist in movies or books. And either way you see it I'm still simply stating the moral of that story was NOT to change for your man. That is a commonly made assumption about a children movie.. When kids don't even pick up on the possible hidden messages like being shallow.I watched these movies as a child and turned out just fine. I would also like to state that she wanted to be a human long before she met that 'guy' and she would have chosen legs over a tail before she noticed him. So the fact that Eric came along may have influenced her a little, but she would have chosen legs long before that anyway. She picked up and left as soon as she got the opportunity.. Because that is what she always wanted, not just because of Eric.

This is like the most superficial level of the Disney princesses. You can make anything sound obnoxious and stupid if you break it down to its barest bones enough. BTW Cinderella is a lot cooler than most think because the moral of her story is NOT wait for a man. Through all that hatred and abuse she remained kind and loving. Not a doormat and not a victim. Very similar to Harry Potter. The Prince is the reward for staying honest and loving, not the goal.

She did what she could with what she had. I'm neither saying it's better nor worst, it's just different! different situations and realities, and she should be admired and an example as much as the others princesses
