@skynyrdjesus4 жыл бұрын
Well, there at a severe disadvantage on perception from the off. If you think about it, there's just not really anything particularly exceptional or spectacular about a big man scoring in the paint because it's generally accepted that it's a safe bet it'll be successful barring defensive interference. When a big man is going to be at his most clutch, it's on the defense to stop it, it's hardly even a matter of skill. It's when the big man can dodge and clear his way through heavily contested post defense where he appears most clutch, like Hakeem, and that kind of center is incredibly rare

If they kept track of blocks and steals he'd definitely have averaged a triple double and might have averaged a quadruple double for his entire career. He was most likely closer to 20 blocks per game than 10 in his prime and it's basically a guarantee he averaged more than 10 for his career with his peers estimating his career average was 12-14 and with him averaging a recorded 8.8 for the last 113 games he played. Steals would have most likely looked similar.

Thank you for briefly mentioning 2001 Playoff Kobe. He was a complete animal during that postseason... Also, it should be mentioned that the Lakers were missing both Malone & Horace Grant during the 2004 Finals, meaning they had no depth at PF vs. all star Rasheed Wallace. This made a huge difference in how the offense was ran, not to mention the impact on defense. In addition, Gary Payton was getting abused on defense. Kobe had to play both Billups & Rip Hamilton during various stretches during that series because GP couldn't keep up with Chauncey, hence Billups getting FMVP. This is probably why Kobe shot so bad in those 5 games. Recall, he was being guarded by Rip, Tayshaun, and Chauncey. To your point though, he could've shared the ball a bit more with Shaq.

Yeah, AI gets it for being dominant with moreso of a talent based dominance, Shaq if you were to argue it for him should get it for a bully ball based dominance perspective

Kobe was shooting 36% in the 2000 finals? god damn lool
@jonnyarnett4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I probably should have given more context though. Kobe shot 46% in Game 1, and then badly rolled his ankle on Jalen Rose's foot in Game 2. He missed Game 3, and came back, but the ankle was never 100% through the series. That may have played a part in tanking his efficiency.

Shaq would offensive foul alot, and refs allowed it. Honestly couldn't stand watching shaq with Lakers because the guy was able to do whatever, and the refs allowed it.

Hey Johnny, I have a video suggestion. Do "What if it was the playoffs MVP instead of the Finals MVP" I'm quite sure it will silence the notion of Kobe getting carried by Shaq

I agree with this.

Shaq didn’t carry Kobe but Shaq was the better player at the time hence why he got all the awards including the 2000 MVPs in which people argue it was the greatest season of all time.

You could say the same thing with Bronsexuals and Kobe haters slandering Kobe already with this.

@@robertofranciscor.beltran5588 This is something fanboys do they try to diminish their teammates to make it seem like their guy was the best and carried the team. They also reverse engineer and create false narratives. Kobe was the 2nd best player on the Lakers at that time. He was amazing don’t get it twisted but he was the 2 guy. He wanted to lead his own team and surpass MJ, there is nothing wrong with that but he was a toxic at the time and ran off a lot of his teammates away even Phil Jackson was tired of it. Once Kobe understood the team game and got some talent he was great. He lead that Lakers squad to 3 straight Finals and back to back titles.

2004 lakers was horrible I'm sorry. Kobe n shaq relationship was toxic af and shaq gained weight instead of not working out anymore. I'll say kobe did his best the way he can. Karl malone was already old and out of his prime tbh along with Gary Payton. So yeah those four wouldn't won a championship without these problems arising.
@hristijandimitrovski86644 жыл бұрын
If this year Lakers won Kobe and Shaq would be the best duo of all time probably. But everyone from the team wasn't motivated to play, Kobe and Shaq weren't like before and I'm really sorry about that. If they were cool whole the time maybe they would have 8 titles together. Kobe is my favourite player, but for me this finals in 2004 shouldn't happen, Kobe played like shit.

5:50 you do know that Shaq only said that Giannis at 24 is better than him at 24, right? Besides, the stats, not to mention Giannis's more verstaile play on both offense and defense validates his statement.

@BIGmonkeys 23 Rodman was the best rebounder of the 1996 NBA Finals. But you still have to score. And with that being said. Rodman provided little to no scoring. Kemp was the overall better performer. Scoring more, Rebounding very well in his own right. As well as providing shot blocking and shooting 56 percent from the field.
