What I don't understand is, though it would require a radical fundamental modification of how the universe and human existence works, it's possible to get rid of death and get rid of suffering and there still remains all the other free will thoughts and behaviors for people to do. No pain or "evil" doesn't = no free will- people could still choose their decisions from the remaining infinite different possible choices to take. Fundamentally redesigning the world as god so that suffering and "evil" aren't required and are no longer needed doesn't get rid of free will any more than preventing humans from being able to fly or to teleport or to phase through walls does (along with infinite other things that limited, humans don't have the ability/choice to do).
@alalessia

@@bragtime1052 I feel like the problem with removing "evil" is that it is much harder to define than say gravity and general physics. What is "evil"? A five year old stealing my last cookie? A teenager lying about where he was last night? An adult cheating on their partner? Where does it start, and where does it end? Based on what is this line drawn? I don't know if I would know within 15 minutes how to define all the troublesome small print of eliminating evil :D

I had once thought about a genie wish to avoid war: Any weapon deadlier than a kitchen knife becomes utterly ineffective if anyone "innocent"(isn't responsible for anyone's death, hasn't SA-ed or physically abused anyone ever) is in the weapon's range. No guns cannons misslises arrows even thrown axes nothing works if an innocent person could get hurt as the target or collateral. It just jams or stops or disintegrates without hurting anybody. Just stops working. So if you wanna unalive someone you gotta get within reach of them physically. And can only use your own body or at max something like a pencil or a compass or a kitchen knife. That person can defend themselves or have someone else intervene and protect them and unalive you instead. Lets see how we get wars done that way. Also if everyone within range at the launch site of the weapon is NOT innocent it detonates there n unalives the ones trying to deploy it.

This reminds me of Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn books, wherein an individual had godlike powers for a few minutes and, in attempting to fix problems, made new and worse problems that he then had to frantically try to fix while he still had power. The result was a world covered in ash clouds from volcanoes to protect it from a sun that was now too close and too hot to survive (because aftering moving the planet to fix one thing, he didn't know how to put it back).

As far as high impact low disruption things go I think that's pretty much one of the best ones.

@@prongs4137I don’t think that avoids war, it just avoids physical harm within war. But manipulating others for power and causing destructive harm to peoples and societies is still possible. (Like shutting off electricity for a nation during winter, or making farm fields impossible to grow on).

This is such a perfect video I want to show everyone. A real-time discovery of why power, laws, and good vs evil are complicated, and why people who tell us to give them absolute power to solve all of our problems should absolutely not be given any power.

But what about the biological changes from infectious disease? Would that have any ramifications?
@mayaenglish5424
@mayaenglish5424 25 күн бұрын
I feel like that falls under the "unintended ramifications" part of the spectrum. Sure it sounds good on paper, but I'm pretty sure a lot of those diseases are in arms races with other things and the swift sudden lack of competition/predation in the microcosmos could get really really weird and bad. I have a vague memory of watching a documentary about this kind of idea a million years ago where scientists floated the idea and talked about how interconnected everything is.

With regards to world peace, I actually had a similar thought. If I could change one thing about humans, it would be to replace the inclination in our brains of 'us vs them' thinking with 'share fairly' thinking. Also Hank, making people smaller is a very short term solution! This is the point where the scifi movie would reveal that this exact thing already happened in the past, people used to be 10 ft tall and shrinking solved their immediate problems, until today where the problems again arise for our current height
