@@michaelgibbs3011 No, as he says, he makes the best choice for him in his position, based on his experiences and knowledge. My choice is obviously different, as I believe the Glock Model 20 in 10mm is the perfect one gun. Having spent much of my life in the Colorado and Utah Rocky Mountains and the absolute wilderness of Alaska’s taiga and mountains, the Glock is clearly the best choice whether I am in the Chugach Range, the High Uintas, or downtown Denver. Your mileage may vary, and none of us are “wrong” for our positions.

I wish I knew what the heck I said that you people are replying to. Anyway for the fellow who said there are reasons I don't need to know, well. DUH. It's not so much what I don't need to know but more like I don't care to know. Get that straight. I don't care. I can't think of anything any of you can tell me that I want or need. Maybe just leave me alone. If you have even a little bit of decency, you will do that. But watch: several will have to bother me again. Whatever you might feel you want to say, whatever hateful motive you have, I don't care. Guess what else. . . I don't care. You got nothing I'm interested in. Just go away, but I already know you are not capable of that. One or some will have an ego-driven need to say something else, likely just to get the last word. You can have that if it helps you l admire yourself more than you already do.

Great observation. A 92 wouldn't be my first choice but how he arrived at the decision is what matters. Take that logic and apply it to the guns you own or try at the range. Fortunately we still live in a country where you don't have to make that decision so I can own them all if I want. Sad to see the vapid morons on the left clamoring for the government to take away their right to own a gun and to be able to defend themselves.

Paul, I was an Security Forces/Combat Arms (MP/Range Instructor) in the Air Force for 15 years (1991-2006) and carried the Beretta M-9 daily and it's a great shooter! @Mark Himmer I was also in the USAF from 2005 to 2013. I came in Security Forces and cross trained when my window opened from Security Forces, into what at the time was called SOWT as an SR. Now they call my last job in the USAF "AFSPECWAR SR." I never forgot where I came from in Security Forces though and have and always will maintain a healthy respect for them. Even more so those who were CATM, such as yourself. Thank you for what you did and as it pertains to your comment, I still carry a Beretta 92X custom with me everywhere I go that I can carry it. CZ-75 is also quite a nice choice. I stick with the 92 because of having trained with it for those 8 years and how many times I have used it, between combat, training, and self defense. The CZ was just amazing when I handled one, and I think made for just as good of a choice, but there is just something about the experience of one that has saved my life so many times, and that I have saved lives with. Not to say one couldn't do that with the CZ, it just wasn't what was in my hand at those times. Paul Harrell and his content are some of the most important on this platform in my opinion, and quite the informative enjoyment combo. He reminds me a lot of the CATM guys I worked with and got my training from when I served. Guys like you. Thank you again!

"The.38 special/.357 is one of the absolute most versatile caliber choices you can buy. .38s&w,.38 short, .38 special, .357 and as light as you want or all the way up to max load .357." I agree, but only because of being able to shoot .357 Magnum and .38 Special ammunition, both of which are very common. Being able to shoot a few types of obscure, long-since-obsolete ammunition doesn't add to the versatility at all for the vast majority of people. By the way, you can fire some brands of .38 Super ammunition in some .357 Magnum / .38 Special revolvers too. That doesn't add a lot to the versatility because it's not a very popular cartridge, but at least it's not completely obsolete (i.e., there are still mainstream companies that make .38 Super ammunition and firearms). "Even black powder options for loading this caliber." You can load any cartridge with black powder; sometimes they will even cycle in automatics. I read an article in a gun magazine in the 1990s where they loaded .45 ACP cartridges with black powder and they cycled flawlessly through a MAC-10, full-auto. For black powder, you don't need specific loading data like you do with smokeless powder; you just fill the case with it and stuff a bullet on top.

Elmer said he had only one gun, a Broom Handle Mauser. It had the detachable shoulder stock, and could be used as a pistol or carbine. Elmer said it was extremely accurate, and the old Mountain Man would take Grizz and Elk by getting within 50 yds and taking head shots. Shot placement is everything.

Both best done before your life is on the line with firearm-ammo failings. with a handgun you can't adequately and fluidly, safely operate by means of grip, aim, reliable feeding ammunition, and familiarity with shortcomings, ammunition firearm operator. Failure of expansion perceived can be addressed potentially saving life and limb. After you are dead in your failings, the medical and investigative report of failed expansion in the perpetrator is info obtained too late. Oh, the Beretta? It's merely the weapon of choice! I almost completely agree. Specifically, I’d opt for: 1. a Smith 627 or 686, with a five inch barrel (bonus points for a 7+1 or 8+1 cylinder), or 2. a Ruger KGP-161. A five inch barrel is an excellent compromise between top-end concealment and enhanced velocity/sight radius . . . AND all of these revolvers are extremely durable, reliable and accurate, as well as very effective for anything from target/plinking fun (with inexpensive, ubiquitous, .38 Specials), to personal defense (with +Ps and .357 magnum JHPs), to medium game (and possibly somewhat larger) hunting with heavy, cast lead, .357s. Obviously, many will suggest that a six shot capacity is too limiting. However, I believe the likelihood of requiring more than six rounds is any reasonable scenario is essentially zero. I suppose greater capacity is a potential advantage, IF ONE PLANS TO MISS FREQUENTLY, which I do not. VERSATILITY, thy name is “.357 magnum revolver.”

Hi Paul. What I like in this channel is that your videos are not only about guns; they're also about coherency, building an argumentation, and giving information in an objective (and definitely not boring) way. I've been learning a lot about a lot of subjects here. Thank you!

8:20 one of small things I love about Paul Harrel videos is the background and calming sounds of nature that accompany it, birds chirping, crickets concerto in background, does passing by, and here a hawk scream. This shooting range seems to be awesome place and I wish I could spend a day there

It is an "awesome place" Very good range facilities, well maintained, a 'wildlife refuge' ambiance, and the whole place is rarely crowded.

Thanks Paul for another excellent video. I live in Alaska, so my choice for a single hand gun would be my S/W 629 4” .44 mag. I shoot it well. .44 mag is readily available in many different loads including .44 spc. To cover everything from personal/home defense to hunting. Needless to say, this is of course my personal choice.

Mine would be a lever action 30-30. Small, light , thin and very handy to use. And the 30-30 has enough wump to do just about anything you would need it to. As usual another great Paul Harrell vid. One of the best on KZbin.

Get a No.4 Lee-Enfield and a Webley in whatever flavor of .38 or .455 you prefer. And when they ask you why, you'll just respond "why? Because I'm British of course." /s/

@Phil M if one is limited to a bolt action, the No.4* is pretty good. Rather quick action, potent round. The only thing stopping me from hunting down a Webley is the ammo. The .455 is hard to find, and the .38 is easy to find but still hard. I dont reload yet, once I do I may hunt down a .455 webley.

Mine would be my P320 for every reason why you picked the 92. I picked up a range rental and shot it better than my g19 that I have been taking classes with for years. I bought one and it’s been my main pistol ever since.

Loved the video. I've turned a few friends and family members into true believers of the 92FS. Like you say all the time, this is what works for me, and might not work for others. But I have found the reliability of the 92 to be almost incomparable to other guns for what it will eat for ammo and just keep working every time. Thanks for the videos.

Big thumbs up for: "There is no replacement for shot placement." Got a few pistols. The one that shoots the best is a 9mm Hi-Power clone. Very intuitive aiming and excellent results. At least in my hands...

It's a good pistol, but the grip is too large for my hands....there are other 9mm double stack pistols that are little smaller that are better choice for those who have smaller hands. They do shoot very well with good ammo.

Abram Hepp Why, .45 has poor penetration compared to a 9mm. That can carry twice the capacity and not stove pipe at least one round per mag. To each their own but I would choose something more reliable.
