You have some fantastic content on your channel. At 53 years old, my wife and I achieved a net worth of $1 million back in 2017. Fast forward five years, and it has grown to $2.4 million. Despite our combined annual salary of just over $100,000, we have adopted a frugal lifestyle. We continue to drive older cars, prepare meals at home, and make use of leftovers. Additionally, we have two children currently in college. Fortunately, we had saved for their college expenses, and they are contributing by working part-time. As a result, they will graduate without any student debt.

That right, I started investing sometime in 2018 and by late 2021, I pulled out a profit of over $750,000 with no prior investing knowledge or skill, I was basically just following the guidelines set by my financial advisor, so you don't necessarily need to be a perfect investor or do the hard works, just have a professional who guides & mentors you.

We must consider safer investments with promising returns in order to plan for the future. If you approach investing with a five-year perspective and simply DCA whenever you receive a check. Under the direction of my investment advisor, Melissa Terri Swayne, whose expertise in portfolio diversification is unsurpassed and client-focused, my portfolio has gained almost $643k since January 2022.

Hi Davis, thanks for the videos, I learnt a lot from it. One question, would you recommend using leveraged ETFs (e.g. TQQQ, UPRO, etc), to trade PRS, Short Strangle? While I understand the risks, I don't think it applies to Option tradings, especially since I'm concern about Premiums, lower margins, and lower max loss, etc. Pls correct me! Thanks!
@optionswithdavis
@optionswithdavis 4 ай бұрын
I personally don't use leveraged ETFs, but if it works for you, why not. Just test out using the smallest contract size over a large number of trades and see if it works according to what you want. Preferably with demo then this way if it doesn't work out the way you expect then at least no money is lost. Thanks for the support, appreciate it!

This is my fifth year after retirement. I’e been following the 4% rule thing I saw on a youTube channel, but this isn’t really how hard I expected things to be. After I cashed out a lump sum, I still have about $760k left, but at this rate, and with how the market is (we were putting money away in an index fund), I’m starting to get really worried.

Not a lot of people are able to save that much in a lifetime. But now you are retired and depend on your investment, it’s best you redistribute your capital. To simplify the process, you could allocate your resources with the help of a financial advisor.

I’m closing in on retirement, too, and I have benefitted so much from using a financial advisor. I didn’t start early, so I knew the compound interest of index fund investing would not work for me. Funny how I pulled in more profit than some of my peers who had been investing for many years.

Please make a video about capital allocation. I believe the audience need to understand how much money they need to have in the account to trade certain strategies. For example, the strangle is not just entering the position, people need to know how much capital they need in the account when the position goes against them, and at what point they need to close for a loss or put more money in the account. When you open the position, the initial margin could be $5,000. When the underlying goes against you, the margin requirement could be $11,000 + the loses so in this case the capital requirement could be $15,000. This is important to understand so the trader can calculate the return on capital which in my opinion, a strategy should return between 2.5% to 4% monthly.

Thanks, Davies, for this amazing video! One question: I typically use the Wheel strategy to earn passive income by selling a cash-secured put as the first leg. In case I get assigned stocks, I will then sell a covered call option. Do you think this put ratio spread strategy is better than the short cash-secured put as the first leg of the Wheel strategy? If so, I will probably replace the short cash-secured put trade with put ratio spread trade as part of the Wheel strategy.

Another defense if the stock falls too far too fast is to neutralize the loss by doing the after the fact adjustment. So your sold put is at 30 strike let say and stock gaps down to 20 and you want to neutralize the current loss. Simply buy it back at its now expensive price and then recover the loss by selling the put at the same strike the 30 strike. This will neutralize most of the $10 drop due to recapturing the intrinsic value. If the market keeps falling you can repeat this process as ling as there is a market to buy and sell the option at the 30 strike now that the market is way lower. Hope that helps. Have fun!

If people don't understand I think what you're doing is the same as getting assigned and selling calls but with less capital. At 20.00 dollar stock you will have 1,000 warped up in selling puts vs 2,000.00 in owning stock. I know this is just an example but 10.00 is a stretch id think of trading interest on a 20.00 stock but I get your point. Might have to eat it for awhile and sell a leap.

If it's its a put debit spread, we should be paying to buy the put debit spread. Hence the example at 3:30 is not correct when it said short put is +$3 so each short put is $1.50 and long put is -$1. In this case, it's a credit spread and we receive $0.50 instead. How is this possible?
@optionswithdavis
@optionswithdavis 4 ай бұрын
See it as either: 1 Short Put = +$3 credit. 1 Long Put Spread = (-$4 + $3) = -$1 debit. Net Credit = +$2 Credit. OR: 2 Short Puts = +$6 Credit. 1 Long Put = -$4 Debit. Net Credit = +$2 Credit.

Thanks! Super intuitive. Question - why not just sell a put? Will the put spread mitigate a lot of downside risk? How do you think about how much premium you're willing to give up to mitigate risk of the short put? Couldn't you achieve the same risk-return outcome with a single short put at a higher strike price?

If you compare using the same short put strike price, ratio spreads will have a higher probability of profit. But it's a tradeoff because if the market goes up the moment you put the trade on, the CSP will have a higher profit since there isn't the embedded put spread.

Thank you for a great video. I really like this strategy and will research it more to trade with it. I was wondering, do you have a strategy for when an underlying is trading at the 'top of the band' so to speak? Basically the inverse of the put ratio spread. Since selling naked calls is not allowed in lower level accounts, It seems a lot of strategies are geared towards puts and covered calls. But these are both started when the underlying is at the 'bottom of the band'. Once the asset recovers and goes up, what is the trade strategy? It would be great to have a "wheel" type of approach where the put ratio spread was at the bottom and " " the other strategy was at the top. Thanks!!

I love your videos and have been watching every one I can on ratio spreads. One thing that I think doesn't get talked about enough is management. For example you covered it some, but I think there's probably a lot more things you can do, when you are using a DTE of 30-45 days. For instance, one thing I am experimenting with is a wheel strategy where I set up call and put ratio spreads that cover most of the expected move. I think with a long DTE setup, if the stock moves one way, the shorts in the opposite direction can be closed out... leaving "free" long contracts in case there is a reversal. OR they can be rolled up to capture some of the profits... at the cost of narrowing the spread. Now I'm not sure of all the tradeoffs of that idea, but it seems like this setup- both bullish and bearish ratio spreads, means whichever way it goes you can make adjustments to profit from the movement.

Why not only sell the Put, to get more credit? Also why not close the position when price goes down and before you start losing on the naked put?

What if you roll the put ratio spread instead of just the short put but opening another bear put spread along with the rolled short put

Why not put a Call Ratio Spread that mirrors your Put Ratio Spread at the same time. Also if you could show us in real time an actual spread with the prices on the options so we can see what it looks like when we go to try one of these.

That would essentially be a strangle. You have upside risk which in the last 15 years has been poorly paid, very high IV phases aside.

Which stocks are you using? I’m checking some of them but I have to pay a debit instead of receiving credit… other question is: in order to defend the strategy, do you open separately (spread + naked put) or all together?

Great video Davis. Thanks for sharing. Would it be possible to share the same using an example with strikes so it is better to connect with the Long Put Spread and the Short PUT where the strikes of the short PUTS are the same. Also, this strategy is for DTE 45 or slightly lesser.

Hey Davis. If stock goes down then we make profit in the LONG PUT Spread is fine. But how do we ROLL Out and Roll down the SHORT PUT? Most probably we will not get a higher PREMIUM for the new Sell PUT i.e. the BUY PUT premium of the current leg will be higher than available SELL PUT premiums unless we go really FAR and those Stocks or even Index may not be liquid. So to adjust the SELL PUT do we sell 1 extra now? I.e. we now sell 2 PUTs only after rolling out and down ?

@@optionswithdavis Thanks.. I have seen this long ago and thanks to you I am doing this comfortably. But naturally at times the mkt goes against you so much that best is to quit. But my question whether I can Adjust a 1 lot sell PUT position by sellng 2 lots in next expiry if I am not getting a higher Premium than the Sq off-BUY premium of position being adjusted (closed at loss). Will that work also?

52:10 Strong BUY. Still early innings. NVIDIA is the dominant leader in AI and the preferred technology partner globally. Even w new competition on the horizon, NVIDIA is far ahead of the competition. 85% market share. 76% margin. Unrivaled demand for new Blackwell chip. Demand far exceeds production for Blackwell through to 2025 and beyond. No competitor has anything close to Blackwell. And forward P/E is about 33 (cheap for a high growth stock). Buy this stock and wait. You will be rewarded

When it comes to investment, diversification is key. That is why I have my interests set on key sectors based on performance and projected growth. With this strategy, if the stock goes well past my short Put, will I be forced to buy the stock at the strike price of the short Put? Will the debit Put spread offset that loss?
@PowerfulActionableBits-bz9gt
@PowerfulActionableBits-bz9gt 4 ай бұрын
It's a ratio spread (+1, - 2), so the 1 short put will be offset by the long put and you would have to pay for the assigned shares for the other short put
