'...an expert in the music of Lennon and McCartney. I’m sure to affirm that this is the most underrated song of the Beatles...' So you claim to be an 'expert' in the music of Lennon & McCartney? Self praise is no recommendation whatoever. Who appointed you an 'expert'? And you then go on to say that 'If I fell' was the most underrated song of the Beatles! You, a self-proclaimed expert say that! So what's your head-count for those who say it's underrated, and those who don't? If you think that, then back under your stone, mate, as you are talking absolute shite! From someone from the Holy City for whom the 1960s were my teenage years, so I know what I'm talking about...

The beauty and the brilliance of the Beatles harmonies is that they are deceptively simple. The melodies and the lyrics go by so easily that the complexity of the songwriting and the arranging just kind of gets missed. Which, in and of itself, isn't always bad. The 'hum-a-long" nature of the tune and simple hooks made the songs stick in your mind - even if you didn't know all the words. "And I Love Here" "Ringo's Theme (This Boy)" "I'm Happy Just To Dance With You" "Paperback Writer" "All You Need Is Love"

IMO, it's one their all-time greatest songs, and a Lennon masterpiece on par with Strawberry Fields or A Day in the Life. I believe this is one of their best efforts and not given the credit. Everyone loves it, me included. John does the low end of the harmony and Paul does the high part. What I love about it is it start with John solo then they do harmony. I love the way that it's harmony and then John and Paul sing together, no harmony. So, it's no harmony then harmony the same then harmony and back and forth. When people sing along, they seem to always sing Paul's high part. It isn't that easy to sing John's part. I finally was able to zero in on John's voice and now when I hear it, I sing John's part. I agree with you 100% on your comment of the song being 'ear candy. That's exactly what I think to. When The Beatles were first starting out (after their big splash on The Ed Sullivan Show), they were writing 3 songs a day. At one point, in the beginning, they had 5 songs in the top 10 at once. I believe when the did the Ed Sullivan Show they had something like 72 million people watching. Not all that much by today's standards with so many channels with cable. At that time there were only 3 stations to watch. ABC-TV, CBS-TV and NBC-TV. So numbers like they drew were unheard-of. These guys were bigger than big and their music is still loved today by all ages. Great reaction my friend. I'll be watching you again. Stay safe.

One of my all-time favorites, and a perfect example of why Lennon and McCartney went together so well. Such an amazing blend of voices. Throw in George's playing on the 12 string and you have musical perfection. You can see the Everly brothers influence here. For some other great examples of their harmonies try 'This Boy' and 'Because' for three part harmony, and 'Baby's In Black', 'I'll Be Back' and 'I Don't Want To Spoil The Party'. I love your assessment of this song. I have loved the song as long as I can remember, but you put a new light on it for me. Thank you.

One of my favorites! I was a 13 year-old kid when it was on the radio, trying to figure out jr. high school love. You are right, a beautiful, sweet song. Thanks

Try 'Here, There And Everywhere', and 'For No One', both off of the Revolver album. Here, there and everywhere has one of the most beautiful melodies ever written, while For no one has a heart breaking lyric.

Another beautiful song (even more so, in my opinion) from that album is the exquisite "And I Love Her" with George playing a haunting Spanish guitar. Imagine being a little kid and going to the theater to see "A Hard Day's Night" when it came out, and getting to watch the Beatles perform songs like this.

Loved watching your reaction. Never tired of either Beatles songs or your reactions to them! More sweetness in store when you listen to "And I Love Her" and "This Boy" also from the early years.

John's only weakness was his insecurity. And through his music, it turned out to be his strength.

Cool reaction . And they had no vocal training , they just dropped these harmonies with ease , and did it just as well live every time .Although there's a live If I Fell where John's voice cracks on the high note & he laughs . Try And I Love Her ,it was on the same EP from Hard Days Night , it's just as sweet . All this Beatles stuff is music I've loved for 50 yrs now , love seeing someone discover them .

Agree Hari! One of their best harmonies! Here it’s just john n Paul. Even more magic when George chimes in. Agree with another comment to try This Boy. Also YES IT IS!

I always loved the line, "I found out live was more than Just Holding Hands," b/c their 1st US hit was "I wanna hold your hand." Get it?! They really did grow up with their entire generation.
