What a fantastic and helpful video. I so agree with your observations. I own a lot of Sezane pieces, including the three shirts you like plus the Chlo blouse in 2 colors. One regret purchase is the Jamie tee because it really doesn’t fit right. I regret not returning it. Ditto for the Marcella tee. I do love my Paula puppies. Thank you so much for this video. Thank you for the video!! I like the point of view of quality, versatility and looking for more timeless pieces. I read in some comments that other people would go for more unique pieces, and I understand it, but the best Sezane clothes look very simple. Sometimes when I buy something from Sezane online I show a picture to my boyfriend and his reaction is always like "meh, I dont find it special". But it changes completely when he see it in person when Im wearing it. Then he is like " Oh, now I get it, it IS special and it looks high quality and its flattering". Thats what Im looking for! Loved getting your perspective and reminder to concentrate on quality & value for the money over something that's just eye-catching! I also appreciate your honesty about your struggles with their pants. I thought I was the only one, although I have the opposite figure - slim hips, wider waist - basically a solid rectangle. Given that our figures are opposite I'm wondering what the ideal body type *is* that can just fit right into their pants? For the most part for me, if the waist fits then they are way too big in the hips. Until/unless they start publishing actual garment dimensions I'm not sure I"ll try their pants in future.

I just tried the Remy top and have the same thoughts about the ribbing and square neck- it pulls in such a weird way around the neckline. I did get the Lilou top although you didn’t recommend it, I hear what you’re saying about the price, but I think it’s one of the nicest quality pieces of that style I’ve seen and I love everything about it- the color, the neckline, the cropped length, the snap buttons, and the fact that the straps are wide enough to hide your bra straps 😊 it’s also large-bust friendly which isn’t always the case with sezane.

Ohh I did like the Lilou, it’s a great top and I almost kept it. It felt a little expensive for what it is and I had something similar, so I ended up returning 😜 It really comes down to our needs though, also preference, life style and body type.. I’m so glad you love everything about it, that’s what matters. ❤️ If you wear it enough and it serves you, you hit the jackpot - the cost per wear is low, and to me, this makes the piece totally worth it!

Dear Mila, thank you so much for this video, very helpful! From my purchasing experience I totally agree with the Maia shirt, I believe it is limited to certain bodies and needs to fit perfectly, otherwise the fabric point out that it does not fit. I like to add that the Clea Shirt with the puffy broad sleeves will not look good on Ladies like me with broad shoulders and slim arms due that this sleeve detail let the arms look optically too slim and the shoulders even more broad. It was due to that reason I sent back the Elisabeta blouse - with heavy heart because the Vicorian style was so pretty.

This is such a fun video! I am a huge fan of the Marcello, but I might have to try the Felicien. I did get one Abelia in silk, which was really worth it! I got the Pippae and the Pippa in S, and the Pippae is just a tiny bit too small, while the Pippa is perfect. But now the M is sold out in the Pippae in purple. 😞

For me it was the Alvere top, then the Nele, valentine and Paloma, threw in the tabata skirt and the kelia both in that red floral print, and a betty or two, the pippae dress, then the bree and loelie cotton jumpers… and then off I went on the hunt for jeans too! I found a couple pairs from Good American and weirdly a couple wide leg ones from Zara since after five different pairs at Sezane, I conceded that they just don’t suit me at all. I feel like replaced all of my staples so now need to list everything I no longer wear

I totally disagree with you on the tee-shirts… the ones you don’t choose are the ones I love. The malcom is my favorite tee from Sezane. I have almost 15 of them, some since years and I wear them all the time. I agree with you on the shirts and made the same choices. For the bottom, I have a very different body shape (no waist, belly and very slim hips and legs), so of course my choices are different (in fact I have difficulties to fit in Sezane bottoms) Anyway, I love your videos. I would never say that I don’t recommend Malcolm or Marcelo..I actually own them :) what I meant was if you were starting a Sézane wardrobe and had a budget to spend, I’d get more elevated and unique Tee shirts and tank tops (still classic and timeless) simply because you can find Malcom /Marcelo in pretty much every clothing store :) they’re great, but it’s easy to find something similar in organic cotton, same weight and cut for half the price or a third of the price 😉 It’s around $60 here and $75 Canadian dollars 🥲

I definitely wouldn't buy a single t-shirt from Sezane, lol. There are many other brands that so simple and nice tops with cotton that are much more cost effective. I would just stick to pants (trousers), and some blouses. Maybe a belt. I understand the idea with comparing fabrics but some of those comparisons didn't seem super fair because the cut might suit some people more than others. Overall it was an amusing video and I enjoyed it. It was great to think about what I would buy again (....but yeah, there are lots of items I would just find elsewhere).

I don’t really wear Tees, but I have some basics from Sezane that I love and would repurchase (Felicien, Cara, Mariniere and a few others). The main reason I get these from Sezane (as long as the quality is there) is because they usually release pieces that coordinate and that helps me a LOT when getting dressed (color palettes and style). This video, in particular, was a request from people who are new to Sezane and don’t know where to start from. The point was to aim to just buying better fabrics, cuts that are more timeless and versatile and if you have a budget “why to get this and not that”. Some of these are versatile enough to be worn all year round or easy to mix and match, but of course like you said well, not everything will be flattering on everyone. I didn’t mean to compare every piece as this wouldn’t make much sense, just wanted to point out why some pieces to me are worth the money and others aren’t. Malcolm for example is $55 and so is Lorna but I can get a $20 exactly like Malcolm but not like Lorna. :) I love Sezane but I don’t want to be blind and say everything they have is amazing and good for everyone, I think it’s important to share that! 🥰

Haha that’s funny! What are the reasons you’d choose the others pieces? :) I tried to focus on choosing better fabrics, timeless clothes that are easy to mix and match. If there’s a unique cut and pattern you love, that should absolutely be included (I added Chiaretta, Solitta, Coral Pippa and others)! I personally wouldn’t purchase Abelia in polyester instead of a Chlo or a button down shirt. Dora dress in black is a no (100% polyester) instead of Adele or Vic. I’ve seen you wearing Pippa beautifully! Curious to know which pieces from what I picked you wouldn’t and why! I shared the mini capsule wardrobe at the end, to me all those pieces would work together. You don’t think so? 😜

Thank you, Mila. I totally agree on the fabric choices - I wouldn’t buy a polyester top or dress either (the only garment in polyester I would go for are the pleated skirts, because there’s no other way for the pleats to hold otherwise). For t-shirts: I actually prefer the Remy over the Cléa and Grant. The Remy has an elegant neckline (yes, you’ll need a strapless bra or go without). I’ve tried the Cléa - is boring and needs a lot of styling not to look like sleep wear (the fabric is often used in pjs). The Grant gives “Oktoberfest”-vibes to me 😂… Tanks: I went for the Marcelo - because it doesn’t have a buttons and the cut is more unique/racerback (and can be worn all year). Dresses: def Pippa, not Fabiola. For woven dresses the Dorotha would be my winner, followed by Alessia (better fit) Chiaretta is nice, but the low cut & fit in the bust area isn’t great for many (and no adjustable straps w/o a seam ripper ✂️). Skirts: the Louisa is def great material, but no the most versatile (I sold mine), I’d prefer the Bettie, Savine or Gillie. Why this isn’t a working capsule yet (imo)?: you’re missing a completer piece that works for all possible outfits (jacket, cardi), the colour scheme isn’t cohesive, you have more bottoms (4+2 dresses) than tops (3). The accessories are great choices, but don’t match (at least 2 should match in colour since you’re planning a timeless & classic capsule). I’d love to see a further development of your final choices into a proper mini capsule (I think with a few tweaks it could be there) and see the outfits (paper doll-style or irl).

… and I think the Cloe t-shirt is a great elevated basic & the Rome shorts would be great for a timeless classic style (rather than the jean shorts). For jeans choices it really depends on preference and fit/body type. The perfect slim are my preferred choice and fit me great. Classic style would probably include a straight jean.

To me, Felicien has a better fit and it’s more unique (also more bra friendly):) The idea of a mini capsule wardrobe here was for spring and summer, although some of these pieces could be worn year round for the next decade haha No jackets/coats/knits in this video as it’s almost June, so I focused on late spring/summer pieces (Louisa is a little warmer like Sorena which I have). It would have been a long video to add these, but planning something like that for fall (with knits that’s my specialty) 😜 I don’t think that by adding these you’d have to stop wearing pieces of your current wardrobe lol These clothes and accessories would be something to be incorporated to an existing wardrobe, pieces that mix and match. My picks would probably go with many pieces everyone already owns. That was a “Sezane beginner’s guide” where I superficially show what I’d personally avoid and why, as for what you pick instead, I can only mention fabric, timeless style, versatility and of course, my personal preference. ☺️ As for the colors, I don’t see why they’re not cohesive - all 3 tops I picked are cream, camel and ecru, they go perfectly with the straight leg jeans, ecru shorts, Emilio Pants and Louisa skirt. 🤔 so do the cream shoes + camel belt + burgundy bag, at least I’d happily wear them together :) it’s 2024 so no need to match shoes and bag anymore, fortunately! I’ve owned Rome shorts in 2 colors and they’re awful on me, I sold both! Alessia was one of the worst Sezane dresses I’ve ever tried 🤣 There’s no way I can recommend exactly what fits everyone, whoever watches these videos, knows my body and what I look like but I don’t know the thousands of people who watch me. I can only speak for what I’ve tried and would personally not spend my money on, as for the “instead”, I have dozens of videos reviewing Sezane pieces so this should be a good guide for whoever is new and wants to know the brand better 🥰

I was just in Paris and went to Sezane to see what I could buy there. I always liked their pieces on the website. But… what a disappointment . All the fabrics were heavy and thick. The cuts of marinier shirts were boxy, the jeans were so stiff. I was shocked to see the amount of people lining up to try and buy their clothes. IMHO it’s a very overpriced and overrated company. Maybe some pieces are ok but overall not worthy for me.

Ohh I’m sorry you had this experience, sounds like it wasn’t worth the visit! :( Probably this season didn’t have many flattering pieces or fabrics that you’d enjoy. They vary a lot from collection to collection - I personally haven’t kept anything lately, but I do have clothes from years ago and some recent too that are still my favorite and I wear all the time. Sezane is irresistible during fall and winter, it’s definitely their best collections (knitwear and coats). The hype is there for a reason, but I totally understand how underwhelmed you felt, especially after facing a long line and not finding anything that was worth the price tag!

It's a figure hugging fit, so it follows the lines of your chest so everything remains nicely covered if you know what I'm saying. It's actually quite pretty. However I wouldn't wear with a push up bra or any bra that creates much cleavage. I wore with a padded t-shirt bra. It does require the correct bra and I guess depends a bit on your body shape if it will work for you.
