A couple of months ago I was looking at some of my Silver Eagles. I had a habit of writing the price paid on the bottom of the tube. I saw some I bought in 2008 for $14.10 an ounce. I should have bought more but I'm sure glad I have what I do. Nice seeing you, TB!

Agree with your selection. I'd buy all generic rounds plus maybe some Maples. Best bang for the buck. No ASEs. Premiums too high. Great to own but worst to buy.

Thanks for the comparison, however it'd be nice if you compared current day costs versus average costs of similar coins in 2011, (over a decade ago), when: we weren't facing bank failures, the possibility of global war, incredibly high costs of ALL basic living necessities and all other uncertainties including the devaluation of the dollar and a general lack of faith in our government.

Great suggestion however, unfortunately, I was not stacking in 2011 so I would have to look up those prices. With the stuff in the video, that was actually stuffed I purchased so I knew how much it was. Thanks Tom.

I think Sonny is right. Between $2-$3. I remember I never used to pay more than $3 for ASE's and about 0.50 for rounds.

@@davidortiz3094 you do realize the Gold eagle still has one ounce of Gold but copper and silver are added to make it a harder coin. It's slightly larger than a gold maple and .9167 Gold, not .999

Interesting. I spent $2k today ($1932) 4/250 gram Germanic Mint cast bars, 2 1/4 oz Austrian Gold Philharmonics. I try and buy at a ratio of 100 oz of Ag per 1 oz of Au. I look for stuff of sale low premium.

Yes, so many premium snobs. This only matters in a day where minting and rarity matters. So as a seller yes you have validity today. In a time where its virtually the only thing of value, no one is going to care if your stack has a maple leaf, was stamped in Australia, or was a replica print. all that will matter is weight and purity. And in the event that the gov is requesting to buy back, they will only give you a set price.
