What if you only have one felony for small theft almost 20 years ago with no other charges since the felony. Would I be able to get a long term visa in Thailand. I currently hold a us passport and an Italian passport and I'm about to renew them both

this also includes deferred sentencing including Moral Turpitude (in the State of Texas those who were given Deferred Adjudication usually dodge a final conviction in a court of law regardless if its a felony or misdemeanor including those punishable by fine only eg. civil offense including red light running on a traffic camera (in some Texas cities a motorist is fined $75 for a civil fine in lieu of a moving violation) but in the USA either pretrial diversion and/or Deferred Adjudication can be a gray area when it comes to it being defined as an official conviction (under USCIS law and ICE Deferred Adjudication can be considered a criminal conviction under Moral Turpitude where the individual on US soil can be deported (eg the Bushwick Bill 2010 arrest in Atlanta, GA where the cops found his green card and refered his case to ICE) - this occured in The Woodlands north of Houston where an honor roll student was charged for disorderly conduct and when the court came 2 know that the student (in HS at the time) was an illegal immigrant who crossed the US-Mexico border as a child the criminal charge was reported 2 ICE which resulted in a deportation (even in some cases a criminal complaint which did not result in a final judgment can be considered gray) www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Woodlands-student-got-deported-5521431.php

I have a conviction for DUI and a deferred conviction for Domestic Violence and I have been to Thailand, Korea and Japan many times. I also received a 10 year Chinese visa. I have never been asked this question. However, I would never admit to anything if they did ask. I have USA Global Entry which requires a thorough back ground check but they only go back for 10 years. I did admit my crimes to the US Customs because they would have found out anyway and then reject me for lying. All I had to do was provide documents from the court saying the cases were closed.

When did you travel to Japan? Did they not run your fingerprints? Curious about the US and Japan agreement and how much of that is in effect.

@@Granby3392 I went to Japan in 2018. I do not remember if they ran my fingerprints or not. I suspect the US and Japan have a cooperation agreement and Japanese government can get access to my data.

@@thonatim5321 from what I know Japan cannot run background checks on US citizens as they are barred from doing so. Im also wondering on the Japan entry card where it asks if you were convicted in your origin country or elsewhere have you put no before?

@@ps.6023 I do not remember the Japan entry card but if it did ask, I always say NO!!. Sometimes it is better to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission.

I have a federal record. I’ve been to japan, Norway, U.K. and Chile and I’ve never had a problem. Only had a problem at the Canadian - U.S. border. I got drilled with questions. Never admitted I had a record and had a solid but real story to cross and they let me over. On a plane it probably would be different. All in all if you wanna travel and have a record, you’ll be fine. 99% of the info border security gets is from admission.

How do they confirm whether you have a criminal record or not? Or... you have to tell them and thats how they know?
