Mike if your dad comes to Phoenix we would be honored to be here for him if he would ever need any kind of help. We love your dad. He is a national treasure and we would love to meet him and help him in any way we can. We live in Buckeye. I am a retired 3rd generation trucker. We love old school truckers like you and your dad. Let me k ow how I can privately share my information with you. You and your dad have friends in Arizona.

I feel like the number one concern is fire from a welders torch. Sometimes things light up even though you think they are good. Therefore please build a stand alone shop which will limit fire hazard to the existing buildings.

Sounds like you need an engineer or architect to come out and tell you what the best thing to do for the shop. If it were me I think I’d be trying to see if I could put a large addition onto the existing shop but I’d really need an aerial view to visualize things correctly. It’s kinda sad about the other shop but it could be a blessing in disguise. I love to see a shop build out. The Infrastructure around my favorite toys and hobbies interests me as much as the toys and hobbies themselves. 🤷♂️

OK Mike. Leave the shop and car ports almost as is. Extend it for the motorhome and use the port for your everyday cars. Then other side of the shop towards the pump house add a purpose build 2 truck enclosed workshop like at your old place and add a 4 truck port so all are under cover. Add power to all the bays so you can have each unit with a trickle charger. Then you can always add on the truck ports if you need to, add doors etc etc.

By the sounds of this video, you have things pretty much worked out for the basics, simply needing only to decide on the final decision! To me, you’ ve already got the hardest part roughly figured out! As with any project(s), the final details will always vary as you go along, but, at the end of the day, only you can decide what will actually work the best for you! You’ve got really good ideas to choose from already, and to me, that is usually the hardest part, of where/how to start! Best wishes to you and all your family always with everything, and thank you also for the update on your home where you now live- I was not sure either of how much land you have, as well as the actual layout of it, so I initially had no idea of how to go about making the move you need to make! Please take care all of you!

I’d find somewhere easy to drop the container, and build a standalone truck shed further down from well shed. Keep the car shed as it is. Stop gap, add a big door to the side of the shed opposite the carport 👍🏻
@Wolfe35111 сағат бұрын
Here in Oz a lot of people with larger properties like to get a couple of 40' or 53' containers and put a roof between the two boxes as a carport, gives you storage and car parking (not high nuff for trucks (unless you get 4 boxes....lol)
@mikethetrucknut10 сағат бұрын

@brianporch22014 сағат бұрын
Put an extension shop behind the current shop, say a 60x40, with the entrance off of your current access from the well house into 2 14' doors. that would give your 60' virtually behind the other shop and have everything together. Then you could also enclose the double wide carport and have the motorhome enclosed as well
@Camaro-kevin13 сағат бұрын
Hi Mike, I would extend the rear of your current shop to build a 2 bay truck shop length wise that way you are only heating one building in the winter

Well you need to do is go to the left hand side of that shop make another three bay garage attached to that shop on the left side and just make the roof higher so you have a shop like you had like your old shop at attach it to the left side and I would recommend having opening doors in the back and opening doors in the front so you can actually just drive the truck straight through and right in and right back out this way you could make it all one color same condition same shop instead of having three doors you’d have six doors three larger doors and then your regular shop

Like the cheapest way to go would be to get four containers get the 40 foot containers stack them up one on each side Quonset hut roof over top of it and you’re done front door on it and you’re ready to go

As much as I love 63-67 Corvettes ❤️ I think I would sell it and use the money to build a new shop. Make it larger than the old one so you could get 6 trucks in there plus a carport large enough on the side…just in case!👍🏻

Sell the C2 Corvette ? Obviously not a true Corvette lover. There's no doubt that the newer Corvette are the most technologically advanced Corvettes ever made, but they don't have any character. If I owned the same three cars, and decided to sell one, the C8 would go down the road. Why ? Because personally I'm not a big fan of the C8 cars, and because it's easily replaced down the road. Yes you can buy C1'S, C2'S and C3's too, but the prices continue to climb, and they are already absurd. I will say, as far as the modern Corvettes are concerned, I do really like the C7's.. I'm 63 years old and I've been around Corvettes all of my life. I bought my first one when I was 17, so I guess I'm a little biased LOL...

what about taking the present shop down, extend the m2 (presumed that the present floor is made of concrete) to how much you want/need, and build a new shop on the present spot. i think that's the easiest and cheapest solution.

As good of a trucker as you are and being as good around heavy equipment you could rent equipment and do your own dirt work. Another thought is buy good used dirt moving equipment and resell it when your work is done and recoup most off not all your money
@johnmelling995011 сағат бұрын
It wouldnt be that hard to make the car port higher, wider and longer, put a concrete base down and put sides on. It wont be as luxurious as the old garage but who cares as long as you're out of the weather and warm?

What a list of projects and decisions. If you had any 1 of those trucks plus all the cars and the property and work it would be a handful and then some. I'm amazed at how you handle it all plus maintain a KZbin channel on top of it. Really enjoy your channel so not knocking you at all and I have my fair share of hobbies and widgets along with a busy life so I know what it all looks like. Hopefully things go well with the sale of the house and you and your family remain in good health for 2025 so you can get everything under control. The trucks are so cool so it's understandable why you keep them all. Godspeed.

Hi Mike I would build the exact same red shop because it worked well and expand the existing shop later on depending on your needs Happy New Year!
@fredschell397217 сағат бұрын
Mike, just a suggestion. To keep the value of your property up you should keep your truck garage separate and make it big enough to work on your vehicles comfortably. That would keep your home separate from your garage. Much better for resale.

You'll have to see how much money you have left after you sell or if you can sell your old house before you get too excited there spendthrift 😂 Get the new house paid down or paid off if you walk away from the old house with some money. I really don't have high hopes for 2025 as long as we have enough to work to pay the bills. You have a lot more space than I thought I'd probably build a stand alone shop somewhere off to the side where its not in direct view soon as you drive into the yard. All you need is a 30x50 shop where the 50 is long not wide. On either side you could have a roof overhang for open dry storage for the trucks. I'd have the the car/pickup shop separate, keep the grease and grime out away from the cars. It would be your "clean" shop and clean storage or the cars etc.

I like that idea and yes 2025 is going ro be interesting to say the least. Plan for the worst, hope for the best

I’d say if the funds are available, build a new shop. Build the shop you want, setup the way you want so you don’t regret spending money on something that won’t be your dream shop. Buy once, cry once and then it’s done but don’t do it if it’s not the right time.

Any plans to modify the existing carport doesn't address the lack of roof height for the trucks. I would suggest if money allows to build a purpose built truck shop that has the height you need and the space to keep the trucks under the roof.

Build the shop around the well house, incorporating the well within the new shop. If money is as tight as you say it is, why don't you move back into the old house and sell the new one. It seems like your money problems started when you bought the new house. Build a stand alone shop.
