He's stated that his family have actually always been supportive and any mention of his family in his acts are just straight up for the bit. Also, I guess I have to burst this bubble, 99.99% of comedians who tell jokes about their "experiences" are actually lying. They are carefully constructed stories meant to entertain you.

Jake's approach to being a better person is really refreshing. He's like "I'm either homophobic or misogynistic". And the thing is, being one or the either doesn't make you a bad person. I feel like people overreact when they are told they are being one or the other. Like Jake's approach is actually great because he's secure with himself that he knows he's not a bad person, but that he just has a wrong thought process, and is trying to unlearn sort of years of institutionalization.
@Perricilus8 жыл бұрын
No he's just allowed himself to get so brainwashed by this victim culture that he's looking for this "wrong thought process" in everything regarding gays or women. Bo's approach is refreshing because he acknowledges the problem but he doesn't feel like he has to apologize everytime he talks about gays. Edit: to further prove my point, check out the part from 6:20, where Jake goes out of his way to call himself homophobic and that he doesn't respect women in 20 seconds. Then another 20 seconds later, he says "There might be deep-rooted homophobia in me, but i TRY REALLY HARD TO BE OPEN". Don't get me wrong, I've seen probably every episode of Jake&Amir and I like them, but this apologetic tiptoeing around other people's feelings is fucked up. Hell, when Bo says "no, you're not homophobic", Jake responds "no it's fine". He calls himself homophobic and when people tell them he's not, he reassures them that it's ok and he knows what an evil son of a bitch he is for his thoughts. Also it's a pretty bad mental state to have for a comedian if you're scared to make fun of something.

Bo tried to correct him on it as well when he thought it was homophobia. It was neither one.
@michaelscott54683 жыл бұрын
@@fedea82 internal misogyny*, and yes he did, he said that if a lesbian wanted to it’s fine and It’s hot but when the scenario was about two guys he was uncomfortable with it and thought it was weird and that it made him gay. But he corrected himself and he realized that it was internal homophobia, and although he’s right about that it’s also internal misogyny since sexualizing Lesbian relationships is rooted in misogyny. He’s not misogynistic, I never claimed he was but he does or at least did have internal misogyny in this video, everyone does, so do I. But it’s good to catch urself and correct urself like he did.
@fedea823 жыл бұрын
@@michaelscott5468 nah, no internal phobias. He said what he said and it was right originally. If the guy gets horny about two lesbians sure, that's a double standard, but no hatred or phobias towards gays nor women are there, just sexual attraction to lesbians while simultaneous sexual aversion to men. That's what not being attracted to men entails, it's completely natural to feel uncomfortable watching or thinking of men having gay sex. And the whole "everyone does have x phobias" is bs. I don't, nor does many people I know. Complete acceptance. And what he did, calling himself out, was not only cringe af but also factually wrong. He should be proud of who he is, there's nothing wrong w him nor his thought process.

Bo nailed it around 11:50.. even if we're totally accepting, we don't want to be perceived as gay because then women will find us unattractive / not on the market
@lizchurchill60513 жыл бұрын
I don’t know that’s true, though? As long as a guy is confident, he can be feminine and women will find him attractive. Sometimes more so.
@pottetplant99753 жыл бұрын
@@lizchurchill6051 The problem is people are very often associating "feminine" traits in men with being gay, also they're associating almost any physical contact between men as them being gay, also they're associating not wanting to have sex with women all the time or not being attracted to some conventionally attractive women with being gay, and many more. Of course a man might care if, for example, all of his friends would think he's gay because then he might miss on some girls he would like, only because they wouldn't even try to get with him, thinking he's gay, sure, but that's very specific and imo it shouldn't automatically go from that to being scared of doing anything that doesn't scream alpha male to every pottential sexual female partner in a 50km radius. I don't see men that are more affectionate, or have more feminine way of presenting themselves or are comfortable with platonic physical contact with other man like hugging etc, as unattractive. Honestly, I believe many women find those men even more attractive. So this argument doesn't make sense to me. I believe it's much more about how other men perceive them, not how women do.
@lizchurchill60513 жыл бұрын
@@pottetplant9975 my point exactly 👏🏼
@zzzzzzzzzzz63 жыл бұрын
@@lizchurchill6051 Sure, but if they assume we're gay, they won't hit on us and will only view us as friends. Just like if I believed a woman was a lesbian - I wouldn't want to make a woman feel uncomfortable if she didn't swing that way. Which is an empathetic thing to do, but very bad for our chances. So some of us have to act more straight / whatever than we might feel to be able to date most women. It's not a terrible thing, just how things play out.. but it is kind of annoying.

Cool about all of you being open-minded and all that, but how have you not even considered that this is a friendship that may be ruined by nothing more than sexual experimentation? Think if the story was about a straight couple of friends - a guy and a girl. Would you really advise best friends to mess around, knowing that this could very well ruin their friendship? I feel that in this case, gender and sexuality should be irrelevant. The question is: should friends experiment with friends?

as a lesbian this is pretty good but i think given that theyre all straight men theres a lot of nuance missing when theyre talking about sexuality especially when it comes to women and lesbians. like i get that the main subject was a gay dude and i cant really speak to what they got wrong there but saying that heterosexual women feel more comfortable being seen as gay then straight men is just straight up wrong (lol). just like. they miss a lot of layers when it comes to womens sexuality and the relationship lgb women have to straight women but i do think jake and bo were right on the money about his internal bias and it was cool that they could talk about that
@realemaskye2863 жыл бұрын
@Comp uhhhhhhh i never said they were missing all the nuance when it came to mens experiences. yes they were mostly giving their own personal experiences and ill have u note i took no issue with that. but they also extrapolate what they believe the situation would look like if the sexes were reversed. im saying that from my personal expirience as a lesbian interacting with straight women, this imagined interaction is unfamiliar to me, and that they greatly underestimate the amount of homophobia straight women have because it doesnt manifest itself in the same way as it does for men. different people have different experiences, and these three men have all had very similar experiences and will inevitably get some things wrong when talking about other kinds of experiences w sexuality. in what way am i a bigot?

Right, and it's fine if YOU feel that way. But the question relates to "Motorcycle" who is thinking maybe he wants to go ahead and do it. You shouldn't project your feelings onto Motorcycle by telling him he definitely shouldn't do it; you'd be enforcing your hangups on his experiences.
