Hey Cassandra, not sure Pyunkang Yul is still to be considered cruelty-free. I know they announced a while back their wish to sell products in China (therefore having to go through animal testing by law). I believe Yesstyle doesn't list them as cruelty-free anymore. Thought you'd want to know!

That HaruHaru lavender-scented moisturiser looks so tempting! I love lavender scent but swore off fragrances after the last moisturiser I used with it in, Lush's Vanishing Cream, worked well at first then all the essential oils ended up really irritating my skin long-term (that bad experience with "natural" formulations was actually what started off my journey into science-based skincare...) Comparing the two ingredients lists, the HaruHaru one looks gentle enough that it might be OK for me - the lavender's the last ingredient and it has things like glycerin that I know work well for me. I might have to give it a shot!

Since when is 20-30$ per product considered affordable? And especially for teens? 🥲
@msk-qp6fn3 жыл бұрын
Since Cass upped her game u could say. There aren't many cosmetically elegant and effective vegan and cruelty free options that are under 15~10 usd to he brutally honest. For all the stuff the products promise the products Cassandra recommends arent crazy expensive but are they generally affordable/inexpensive? I wouldn't say so, which is why you have to let go of one thing or more. I usually end up giving up cruelty free-ness and/or cosmetic elegance for price point and effectiveness.
@BooksMusicMe173 жыл бұрын
I thought that was odd (why market a product to teens and yet make it multiple times the price of The Ordinary, Inkey List, etc?) but I looked it up and most of the products are around $15, which feels about right to me! Looks like they did their market research on what that consumer will pay - a little bit of prestige pricing to pay for the formulas and packaging, and fit with the idea that "proper" skin care costs more than a dollar store face mask, but still on a par with what most teens might spend on a treat.
@CarlosCardenas-up4uv Жыл бұрын
In this economy (inflation), that's affordable. Now I prefer the prices of good molecules because it is so incredibly cheap, but reality is harsh. That's what affordable is now. Plus, places like WALMART & MCDONALD'S (where lots of teens work) are literally hiring for $15+ an hour now. Unlike the $8 an hour that we were working for when I started working in 2016. TO Niacinamide + Zinc is the one product I would run a marathon to the store to buy. I have combination skin (oily Tzone, the rest is dry) and also mild rosacea and it works perfectly on my skin. Never had irritation (I did use creams with niacinamide before niacinamide was everywhere), no purging whatsoever. My skin loved it from the first moment it touched my face, drinks it up with no prob. It magically rid me of adult pre-menstrual acne on my chin, evened out skin tone, evened out texture. It did more for my skin than any other product. I'm now slowly introducing retinol into my routine, because there are a few lines I'd like softened :D But never getting rid of this product! Also on top of my list would be the Inkey list Oat cleansing balm and the Cerave moisturizing cream (I know you don't use it). I'd also like to put in there one very underrated product (though not underrated in the EU) the Eucerin DermatoClean gel cleanser.

I love you, I love your channel, I'm a long-time subscriber who very much appreciates the reliability of your skincare info...but $20-$30 is NOT "affordable" (what you deemed the price of the Bubble grape mask) for many people, myself and my wife included--and we aren't in our teens (or even our 20s..or 30s). We live in Wisconsin where the minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. Sometimes drugstore skincare isn't even affordable for us. $10 and under would be a price I would consider not necessarily even affordable, but at least doable. Just saying 🤷♀️

@Cher W I agree with you so much and I feel this way about jeans and soap and everything. They get us used to absurd prices so we call something a good deal when it's marked up so much. I'm on a real budget too. You know what's great? I buy French green clay and kaolin clay in bulk (you can find online) and mix with water and one drop of lemon essential oil just to prevent it from spoiling, put it in the fridge and it keeps indefinitely. It's a nice face mask that exfoliates and leaves your skin all smooth.
@ggeemmiinnii2 жыл бұрын
@@michele_michele ...And prices of EVERYTHING--not just skincare--are only increasing. I honestly cannot remember the last time I purchased clothing new. I could NEVER afford a pair of jeans that cost $50; in Milwaukee, that's the average price for a pair of women's Levi's. Last year I was permanently laid off from my longtime job (like SO many other Americans have been in the past two years), but even before that with both my wife and I working full time, it was very difficult. Many of our friends are struggling just as we are, too, so I know there are lots of others out there who can relate and are going through the same thing we are. However, I think it's really cool that Cassandra--whether it was because of viewer feedback or not--made a few videos focusing on TRULY affordable skincare shortly after this video was put up.

Yeah...I was not raised destitute in any way and neither were most of my peers but most of them couldnt freely buy stuff over 10 USD on their own because they used their monthly allowances of an average of 50 USD (and sometimes less than that too) for transportation, snacks and "socializing," and I grew up in a neighborhood that is considered middle/upper middle class in South Korea. Fyi from my experience the average allowance of 50usd usually starts from mid elementary school years and last about til the end up until middle school and when kids start going to high school they may get a bit more, although there are plenty of cases when it lasts until high school to discourage children from thinking of doing anything stupid or frivilous (like buying alcohol or ciggarettes since we dont have easy access to other drugs, and makeup). Basically im saying it's pretty hard for students to save up for skincare of this price range and many times they dont even realize the importance of skincare to save up for it (ive seen many cases where girls would rather save up for lip glosses and eye shadows and boys would save up for gaming 🤷♀️)

$19 for one item is a lot for a teen. However, it’s not a lot when you break down the monthly cost. Plus, you get what you pay for and if a teen wants a mask, it’s actually comparable to the brands who are known to be cheaper. When you look at the size, usage frequency, and cost of the Bubble mask, it comes out to roughly $3/month. Neutrogena sheet masks are $3 each for 1 use. The Ordinary masks come out to roughly $3/month. Coincidentally, masks from Paula’s Choice (who is typically more expensive now) come out to a little less than $3/month, espec with their discounts. I never tried Bubble brand. My fave is PC Pore Clarifying Charcoal Gel Mask.

Does anyone know anything about Garniers cruelty free status? A few weeks ago I was pleasantly surprised when I read that they are cruelty free... but I trust her more than google, so I am not sure anymore :D

BODY BODY BABY. Love all your suggestions dear Butterfly. Would love you to do an episode on body skincare. I only use Cruelty-Free products but have dry skin and am having trouble finding truly great body lotion/cream/oil. 👍🙏❤️
