Rambo is a tragically severe case of someone with PTSD who has difficulty in recognizing that he is breaking laws and are no longer in a war zone anymore, any sort of action to make a move on him will make him think that he is among enemies again. I don't understand why any of these cops in the movies don't recognize him as a veteran soldier who is in a state of fear for his life when we can clearly see the signs on the looks of his face was the kind of face that Kyle Reese had in "The Terminator" franchise?
@jbone99007 ай бұрын

@TheLAGopher7 ай бұрын
They did recognize Rambo was a veteran due to his dog tags around his neck in the jail. It was one of the younger deputies who spoke out against the abuse being directed at Rambo by saying "Don't you see he's crazy" which was answered by the senior abusive deputy "Don't you see I don't give a f%ck" Later in the film,while pursuing an escaped Rambo in the woods, the Sheriff was advised by radio that Rambo's fingerprinting identified him as a Green Beret Vietnam veteran who had been awarded The Medal of Honor. Again, the younger deputies showed respect for Rambo by saying "Green Berets,they're badasses" and telling the Sheriff he should call in the State Police to take over the pursuit of Rambo. Again the Sheriff reveals his tolerance of abuse, by abusing and bullying the young deputy into contining the pursuit, where the Sheriff promises to avenge the fallen abusive deputy by killing Rambo and "Pinning that Medal of Honor to his liver" A plot point from the original novel that was somewhat lost in the movie had the Sheriff himself and likely his old friend the abusive deputy, being combat veterans themselves of the Korean War. If you look real close in the film, there is a scene where the Sheriff is in his office which has a folded flag in a case and a display of his own awards ribbons and medals. In real life, Vietnam veterans were somewhat ostracized by World War 2 and Korean War combat vets at first because they "Lost" and were public about their issues readjusting to civilian life after the war. While earlier vets just became civilians again, moved to the new suburbs, and tried to be normal. They saw Vietnam vets as wanting to draw attention to themselves and refusing to just get on with their lives. They were seen as being representative of the Boomer generation and the majority of their peers who avoided the war and joined the counter-culture.

The "throwing star" was the Medal of Honor. That the old man was the top Marine fighter ace of WWII, a retired Air National Guard general, former commissioner of the American Football League, and the former governor of South Dakota, He was scheduled to present the medal when he gave a talk at the US Military Academy the next day. How Rambo First Blood would've actually ended: “Stop talking, John. Don’t say another word to these men.” “Who are you?” “My name is Sean Lucas, and I am Mr. Rambo’s attorney. Now that I’ve answered your question, perhaps you could answer mine. Why are you questioning my client without the presence of his legal counsel?” “We told him he had a lawyer coming and that he didn’t have to answer our questions.” “Did they say that, John?” “You calling us liars?” “I wasn’t at the time, but I am now. It has been my experience that the only people who haughtily say, ‘You callin’ me a liar?’ are liars. People who actually don’t lie typically just insist that they are being honest. John?” “They asked me some questions, then told me I could wait for my lawyer if I wanted to.” “I am definitely calling you liars, now. Is that piece of paper your note sheet from the questioning you just performed?” “Yes.” “Give it to me. I am going to throw it away.” “I beg your pardon?” “Beg all you want. You won’t get it. You don’t need that piece of paper, since you and I both know there isn’t a damned thing written on it that will be admissible in court. And if you keep it, then we get to spar on how much of the evidence you want to present came from what’s on that paper. Sound like fun to you?” “Fine. Here.” “Thank you. Now, I have reviewed the charges you have leveled against my client as well as the evidence, if you can call it that. I must say, I am a little puzzled as to the severity of these charges. Murder of Arthur Galt? How do you figure?” “He threw a rock at the helicopter, causing Sgt. Galt to fall to his death.” “Pretty sure that would be manslaughter, not murder. And even that charge only works if you ignore the fact that it was self-defense.” “There’s no such thing as self-defense against a police officer.” “There is when the officer is trying to murder you in cold blood. I have an affidavit here signed by the pilot of that helicopter. He confirmed that Mr. Galt was firing at Mr. Rambo from the aircraft. Considering that my client was armed only with a knife, he could not have met the definition of an immediate threat that warranted a lethal response. Mr. Rambo had to disrupt the flight of the helicopter to keep an out of control officer from killing him in cold blood. Not to mention, Galt only fell to his death because, in his apparent bloodlust, he disconnected himself from his safety harness.” “Galt may have thought Rambo was dangerous after he violently escaped from the jail.” “The jail? The jail in which Galt and the other deputies tortured him?” “Tortured? What are you-” “Affidavit from Deputy Mitch Rogers. Instead of allowing my client to use the jail’s shower, they forced him to strip naked and then they blasted him with a fire hose. A fire hose, gentlemen. Care to offer a justification for that? Then, Galt tried to dry shave him with a straight razor. Considering the fact that the jail had safety razors and shaving cream and water available, what justification could they have had for trying to dry shave him with a straight razor?” “I will talk to them about it.” “Why? Are you saying that there is anything they could tell you that would magically make their behavior okay? Let’s be clear, here. Mr. Galt is not an American Lawman cruelly murdered by a raving psychotic. He was a sadistic criminal hiding behind his badge who got what he deserved when one of his victims fought back.” “I don’t agree.” “I don’t care. It is also worth noting that when my client tried to explain to Sheriff Teasle what happened to Galt, Teasle opened fire on him, attempting to kill my client in revenge. Do I need to explain to you that if anything, that makes Teasle guilty of attempted murder?” “We will take that into account.” “This one’s kinda funny. It’s an affidavit from Deputy Lester. He told Teasle that Galt and the other deputies had abused Mr. Rambo, and he replied that my client should have come and talked to him about it. Wow. Just, wow. Wherever would any rational person have gotten the impression that that would work? I mean, surely if Teasle was the kind of Sheriff who would take action over such a report, his subordinates would not have behaved that way in the first place. Also, how was he supposed to make his way to the Sheriff’s office? Doesn’t seem like Galt and the others are going to let him have access to their boss so Mr. Rambo can rat them out, does it? Also, given his attempt to straight up murder my client, I am going to go ahead and say that Teasle’s claim that he would have taken corrective disciplinary action is crap.” “What about his actions during the initial manhunt? He wounded some of the deputies and held a knife to the Sheriff’s throat.” “And rightly so. Given everything they had done to him at that point, they had no right to expect my client to treat them as legitimate law enforcers. They were acting like violent, dangerous criminals. And he treated them accordingly. Actually, no. He didn’t. In that situation, it would have been completely justifiable for Mr. Rambo to kill every single one of them. Instead, he didn’t kill any of them. He went out of his way to suppress the instincts his years of training and actual combat had instilled in him. He had been treated very much like the North Vietnamese, who captured and tortured him during the war. I have read Mr. Rambo’s service record and can assure you that Teasle and his goons got off easy. At least, when compared to how he dealt with the Vietnamese soldiers who tortured him.” “Are you done?” “No. When the national guard was called in, one of them fired a rocket at my client, violating both the law and his standing orders at the time. His reason was, shockingly enough, that he wanted to get home because he had other plans. The only thing that will look worse in court than the fact that these ludicrous charges are being pressed against my client, is the fact that NONE of these maniacs I have just mentioned are presently facing charges. Not one.” “What do you want?” “I get it. After all of this, one way or another, my client is going to prison. He pleads to a lesser charge and gets five years with a possibility for parole after no less than two. And I expect Teasle and that guardsman to face charges for their crimes. This is going to get very public and very uncomfortable for you folks otherwise. I mean really, how do you plan to justify ignoring what was done to my client?” “We’ll talk to the DA.” “Good. Oh, are you in charge of the guards at this jail?” “Yeah.” “It should go without saying at this point, but you had best tell your guards to treat my client properly and fairly. Mr. Rambo might not be so generous next time. All you have to do, is do your job and do it right. No problems. Don’t be a Teasle, or you might end up being a Galt.”

@TheLAGopher7 ай бұрын
Technically, a police officer pursuing a fleeing felon who has assaulted other officers,can use deadly force to prevent his escape. True, the deputy had been instructed to not kill Rambo by the Sheriff,but to keep him contained and covered on the cliffside from the helicopter, while the Sheriff brought up the posse on foot . As far as the letter of the law goes, the deputy could justify shooting Rambo off the cliffside by claiming he was still attempting to escape. As far as the spirit of the law goes,the deputy intended to murder a cornered Rambo as revenge for a busted nose during Rambo's escape from jail. The other deputies fired on Rambo who had his hands up after they saw he had killed their fellow officer, and he was not immediately surrendering to them. Rambo was saying it he didn't want anymore violence,but he was backing away into the treeline as if he was going to continue fleeing.
@jlau92687 ай бұрын
@@TheLAGopher Yes but you say it yourself, they can claim it. If they would've seen it, they would just see an officer who started shooting a seemingly surrendering suspect right? Possibly help Rambo’s case if the pilot even mentions deputy galt threatened his life, also sure he heard the radio as well can testify to galt’s refusal to follow orders. Paint the picture in the jury’s minds that deputy galt in that moment was an out of control maniac. Instead trying to make an arrest went on I’m gonna kill him. Also imagine Rambo’s lawyer would point out Rambo’s treatment in jail and now being shot at without given an opportunity to surrender is going to say to the jury at that point Rambo is fighting for his life cause he knows now he surrenders he’s going to die based on galts actions. Didn’t Trautman pardon Rambo of his crimes in Hope for his actions in First Blood Part 2? If so, I think his sentence should be reduced.
@Black-Rat6 ай бұрын
Yeah they did, if he did the job he'd be temporarily reinstated in the military as well as pardon, what they probably didn't expected was the Russians to show up, probably Spetsnaz...

What Rambo did in Mexico was 100% right, and he can’t even be charged for what he did there considering it’s outside US jurisdiction, and there is no laws in Mexico

The crimes Rambo committed in the First Blood, If they'd been done in my Nordic country, would've get him a sentence maximum of 15 years. But because he's a first timer, he would've been out of prison about 7,5 years, no more than 10 years.

As a counter argument for the last film, he did kill the cartel member/bosses and disrupt operations so he gets a pass if not a reward

I think his rampage at the end of the second movie where he shoots up all the computers would cost him. It was the reason why he's incarcerated at the start of Rambo 3.

Disagree, they would have to admit WHY he shot up that equipment in the first place. Not to mention a chopper full of witnesses.

He was sentenced to 9 years hard labor (harassed by the cops, beaten and tortured plus PTSD taken into account), got out after 4 only because he agreed to an insane mission with a very low probability of success, they expected him to die over there in the attempt.
