I don't know if this is the same, but maybe someone can enlighten me: The other night I'm watching DVR'd DISH shows -- skipping commercials -- and I accidentally stopped for a moment on a commercial that piqued my interest, but I reflexively continued on past all commercials. When I went back to view it THE RECORDING HAD SWITCHED-OUT THE AD I WANTED! I ended-up experimenting for 20 minutes and found out that if I watched all 7 commercials, my ad played, but if I zoomed past it and came back, the last 3 ads were replaced with 2 longer ones, and the last ad barely cut into my program (more break time needed). Does DISH think it knows what I want to see? My TV isn't connected to the 'net.

I already knew this, but hearing Rogers say is just creepy and scary. What he describes it, definitely has an invasion of your privacy. Guess the only Surefire way to not make sure your information is being sold, is by simply disabling the Wi-Fi on your television, essentially making it a monitor only who your Blu-ray player, console, or whatever device you plug into it.

Everything is connected to the internet, even ur consoles n blurays 😅😅

@@michealoluwafemi4145 you're absolutely right about that. But I haven't connected my console to the internet since initially setting up my account. My Blu-ray player has not been updated once since taking it out and plugging it in. And one of my TV's is a dumb flat screen TV.

Damn, that last scene hits so hard. The big rectangle is running some shit while product is stuck to small rectangle.

Thanks Roger. I was literally days away, DAYS AWAY from buying a Smart TV 📺 Think I’ll stick with my Dumb TV, I bought in 2009

This video appeared the very day I took delivery of my first smart TV! And, I didn't see it until after I agreed to all that stuff on my TV. No more walking around the house naked I guess.

If a company can't handle seeing me walk around naked, they don't deserve to sell me products.

It did. I brought it back.

The biggest disadvantage of all this is that, because all the money is in smart TVs, monitors suffer :( There's little to gain by selling you a screen that you're not going to connect to the internet.

0:25 the coming out of the plunderous depths as an animal only to package himself into business person is hilarious. Gets me all the time. Super sinister when he takes resources from you when you have no money - as pleasant as a peach when you have and will fist over the hard-earned dough.

In fairness; somebody always said that that the TV's have been watching us, they have been saying it since the '80s. It is actually true now, and we paid for someone to watch us. The real messed up thing is that it's actually worse than "1984"; one of the few freedoms you had, was that the party would let you shut off the TV; the only way to shut off a modern TV is to unplug it.

You could only dim it. Not actually shut it off.
