But your argument being really very well place and being best for india a long term, it is also a little flawed as the general elections not only choses the MPs but also the PM and even if a MP can change the fortune of her/his constituency we still need a better PM to enhance the process and a political party to pass the bills as To date, Parliament has passed only a total of 14 private members' bills and it is the ground reality and we are living in real world not the theoretical world. I've Been Voting For a good Candidate since 2019.....My Constituency MPs from both Congress and BJP were 10th pass and one even had serious criminal cases. I voted for an Independent Candidate, Who was PhD in History and a retired professor (ofcourse he lost), Because of this party culture. People in My Constituency don't even know the names of our MPs.....They think they're choosing PM of the country. We have a long road ahead......but we'll surely reach it, if we try.

He is surely right that one must vote for MPs not political party but still three things should be kept in mind 1. India's polity is a party system not an individual system. There's a tool called whip that will force even your MP to vote as per party not as per his/her choice. Moreover if your MP is a minister then he is again bound by collective responsibility. 2. Mixing the significance of NOTA and topic of choosing MP or party cannot be considered wise. Rather there must be the demand to make NOTA a fictional candidate similar as in some local elections ( Here when NOTA votes are more than any other candidate, re-poll is done in that constituency) 3. You cannot consider every voter to be aware of every candidate in his constituency i.e. about his background, profile,etc but majority knows about the party Therefore in my opinion its better to vote for the party by reading their manifestoes, schemes they want to implement (especially for you like youth, women, specially abled), etc and questioning your constituency's MP if he fails to fulfill his party's manifesto after winning. This is just my opinion, yours can be totally different and I respect that.

Sir, just imagine if Subhash Chandra Bose stands up to become a PM candidate, and forms a party.... But the MP candidate in your constituency from his party is less competent then opponent... So who will you vote for? I guess atleast for a moment you will be inclined to vote for Subhash Chandra Bose 's party.... Right? I am not comparing Modi with Subhash Chandra Bose but what I am trying to say is that as much competent Bose would be against Nehru, similar competent is Modi today infront of opposition.... And it's not that we should vote for Modi just because he made temple... But it is because we can see Heavy infra may it be railway, metro, expressway, airports, sea ports or colleges , AIIMS, etc.... Or the basic electrification in Villeges, roads in rural areas, water to every tap , bank accounts kind of basic things.... In all aspects Modi did significantly better.... Modi is too much of an attraction.... We should vote on the basis of MP when either the MP is like K Annamalai (no matter which party he belongs to) or the PM candidates of both parties are equally deserving.... Like Subhash Chandra Bose vs Bhagat Singh or Ambedkar... When top leadership candidates are equally competent then we should see who is better candidate for MP.... BJP is not perfect... He would advocate for a governance framework that is free from the constraints of the Tenth Schedule, whip system, and party-centric politics, which can dilute the autonomy and accountability of individual MPs. Netaji believed firmly in the strength of institutions over the allure of exceptional leadership (Tripuri session). He always viewed reliance on extraordinary figures as a path to instability and unpredictability. His goal would be to reinforce a dependable and consistent governance framework, minimizing the risks that come with exceptionalism and ensuring the resilience of democracy. Throughout India’s political history, particularly during the eras of leaders like Nehru (First Amendment), Indira Gandhi (Forty-second Amendment), and Rajiv Gandhi (Tenth Schedule), changes were often made that weakened the representative structure, primarily because strong, independent parliamentary systems did not align with their political interests. I am a core follower of Hindutva for its’s I really believe in it after studying it thoroughly but for the ist time I voted for NOTA, (it was my 2nd vote), failed in civil services interview last time and still an aspirant. I know NOTA doesn’t make difference but I felt proud after spending atleast 2 min in booth thinking whom to vote. It was my way of boycotting the election for I am fed up of my local MP and MLA. I listened to my conviction and mind rather than closing my eyes and I know it was not easy. I will still say Modi is 1000x better than Rahul Gandhi and the later is a sad reality of India which is not going away from scene soon and that’s what strengthens MODI ji more. The congress promises and manifesto is the most pathetic thing I have heard in the 21st century. Proud of democracy but requires great reforms. Bharat Mata ki hai 🇮🇳

SC has given a notice to Election commission on 26 April 2024 i.e yesterday saying that NOTA also should be considered as a candidate, if NOTA wins then reelection must happen & all the contesting candidates are banned from contesting that particular election, if i feel a leader in incompetent & have seen both bjp & congress's currupt practices why should I vote for them ? I strongly agree that NOTA is a waste of votes. But I firmly disagree that one should see the MP rather than the party. If everyone votes the way you want them to, on an individual basis, your vote will be wasted, just as it was with NOTA.It may appear true in the context of Indian parliamentary democracy that you must vote for your local MP. However, the vision of the Prime Minister and Cabinet largely dictates the policies that affect ordinary citizens as well as the country at large. It has always been like this. If an MP is a complete waste/corrupt/goon, you should not vote for him/her. But if the candidates are essentially the same, or even slightly less trustworthy, I would still vote for him/her based on which party he represents. Vote for the party that can make quick judgments and isn't hesitant to make big changes, even if it means short-term discomfort. Vote for a party looking at their past performance and not what politics they play during the elections to garner votes. Vote for the party that assesses existing candidate performance and isn't afraid to replace existing candidates and try someone new. Vote for an excellent cabinet. Vote for the party which has brought in subject specialists into the cabinet. Lastly, For those of you who think all are kore or less the same- Vote for the party who would offer a stable govt. DO NOT WASTE YOUR VOTE P.S: For me it’s a clear choice. It might not be the 'Best political party in the World' as you put it. But it clearly is the best option in India, currently.

For this voting for candidate trend to become mainstream system needs to change. Otherwise, it won't work. As you said MPs are handcuffed in this system. They can't achieve anything and independent candidates can't survive. So, at the end it come down to parties. You have to find a balance of your constituencies interest and aspirations for the nation in the party manifesto and in any case the former follows the latter so if you have no better candidate than going for the party with better aspiration for the nation is a safe bet.

The way people are blinded and forced to take pride in Sattya Nadela and Sundar Pichai by the term INDIAN is a flawed and biased argument that aims to ignore our own mistakes and push the whitewashed narratives into our minds that we as Indians are on the right path to growth. NOTA is not a waste of vote, rather a statement saying that you disagree with the choice of candidates. Im sure SC will rule in the ongoing case to consider NOTA as a fictional candidate. NOTA is a floccinaucinihilipiliphication and all we need is to make rational decisions in order to make it worth a lot more.

I agree with most of the video here but calling the political parties useless may be a stretch here. The MPs from these parties once elected will go on to form consensus to create policies that benefit the people. That consensus may be easier to form if they belonged to one unit (aka party). But, the tradeoff to be made is that this MP-style election (which may produce a well-debated albeit slow policy making within the country) can have its own ramifications in economy and other spheres of the nation.
