My grandfather clock center weight cranks up but as soon as you let go of the chain weight just fall to the bottom floor you can hear it crank the clicking something happened it don't stay up.

It sounds like one of your wheels isn't meshing with the other. Likely the escape wheel isn't engaging with the anchor.
