This reminds me of a time at a summer camp in junior high school. A cute girl asked me to “go with her” to the camp. I was totally floored because as an introvert no one would ever ask me out, so I was really anticipating it - but for whatever reason after the class got to the camp, that girl just hung out with her friends instead - and seemingly tried to avoid me for the duration of the camp. What a horribly awkward time in life. I’ve got more stories too.. Looking back at it now, it was a million times better just chatting with my introvert friend for hours about random deep stuff than dealing with this social stuff.

I actually enjoyed camp as a kid. No one ever noticed if I was there or not. So it was suuuuuuuuper easy to just dissapear for an entire day exploring unknown forests on my lonesome with my headphones on. Even my siblings didn't notice I was gone. Heck, this one time we did a family summer camp with a bunch of other families and even my mom never noticed me missing. I wasn't in a single photo, in fact, there is zero physical evidence that I ever attended any summer camp xD The best part though, on my lazy days where I'd just stay on location and sometimes wander around a bit, the kitchen lady always brought me food and tried to hook me up with her super hot, at the time, daughter. My favorite time though, were the campfires. It was the only time I sat around people ... at a safe distance ... In a tree, usually.. Summer camps are where my love for fauna and flora began. I mean, my best friend at camp was a goat in year one, a cat in year two, a dog from some locals and some hedgehogs in year three and so on. And where I first realized that people were not my thing. I did however become a camp leader myself for two summers. Led the youngest kids, ages 0-6. Which was a group of 25. Somehow I survived that. But, tbh, I don't really remember a lot of it. So I think something really fucked up happened that may have resulted in suppressed memories. But, eh. You know?

None of us wanted to take part in the "light and joyful" activities, games & singing; everyone just stood passively in the yard (introverts united) and tried to avoid eye contact with the ”assistant counselors” who were the heralds of fun. The assistants started to get confused (I almost felt bad for them). Finally the head counselor stepped in and simply said: let's just skip the games this time. Oh, happy day. I literally just had a "get to know eachother" day today, but I'm proud of myself, I finally had the courage to talk to others x3 And I found someone who looked just as lost and lonely as me, so I thought it's now or never and I think I found my soulmate x3333 Edit: And our activity day tomorrow is climbing in the trees, yeah... I'm definitely not afraid of heights >~< But at least I don't have to cry alone now x333

Love this. I can seriously relate to hating being asked to explain something about myself, whilst in a group of strangers. Like, who cares.

I actually worked at a summer camp this summer that was mostly introverted kids. But it was unfortunate because I was an introverted counselor. So you can see what a great combination that was. Also if anyone is actually interested, the activities they preferred doing were making art, bracelets, swimming, and magic the gathering

1:46 That's a great idea. The fact I think this camp might help me socialize and I'd be open to going to it makes me question my introversion. 😫

Guss 🎸 Memories of church camp, Girl Scout camp, horseback camp…. And the guy I’d end up crushing on at church and horse camp always liked my friend. Always.🤣 I was waaaay to shy.

I went to church camp once and only to be with my best friend, who was supposed to be in my dorm. When I got there, she was in another dorm group. I had a miserable week. The only comic relief was the nuns and priests got Vanishing Point, the R-rated movie. Somebody didn't screen it ahead of time.🙈😭

@@StephanieJeanne 😂 Oops! I’m now flashing on all the hours of macrame lanyard-making. I have always loved camping, but I never liked “camp”. It’s the parents’ way of getting rid of the kids for a week during summer vacation.

@@Carol_65 Yeah, those nuns ran faster than I'd ever seen to shut down the film! 😭 In my case, my parents thought it would bring me "out of my shell." That backfired spectacularly.🤪😂
