had one of these as a 16 year old kid in 1986. a hand me down from "mom", and as un-cool as it was, and as much ribbing as I took from my buddies, this was the BEST car I ever had. It NEVER EVER broke down, had ice cold a/c, got good mileage and held a whole slew of friends.

Thanks to Dennis I got to see my dad's old car. I was the previous owner and this was a awesome video and review. My dad and mom would be so happy to see that Dennis is enjoying his pride and joy. This video brought tears to my eyes from the memories but also to see it enjoyed and used like it was when we had the car. I sure did hate to see it go! Just a awesome video you guys very great detail. And Dennis thanks my friend for sharing this so I could see this. Happy motoring Dennis!!!

Wow Steve, thank you SO much for your comment! This is THE reason we do this channel and your comment brought tears to our eyes as well. I know it was hard to let this car go but it really does have the best home it could. As a matter of fact, when choosing which of Dennis' amazing collection of cars to do our first feature with - we picked this sweet wagon to be the first because we both loved it from the first time we saw it a local cruise night! It is getting lots of love from all over the world now and thanks to your parents, that appreciation will continue. Watch for more from the Kerry garage soon!

My friend's mother had a '76 or '77 Dodge Aspen Sedan with the 318. It never ran correctly. My great Aunt had a '70 Plymouth Valiant, totally bone strip stock with the 225 slant 6 and automatic. Owned it 15 yrs before she passed and it had about 27,000 miles on it. Ran like a top because she serviced it every 6 months at the dealer. Those engines are truly bulletproof.

I had a '76 2 door Volare with a 318 and a rare 4 speed manual overdrive transmission with a floor shifter. It was a great car. Ran like a top and got 25 mpg at 70 mph. That overdrive transmiossion was great for highway cruising.

I had the same vehicle with the Road Runner trim in the early '80's Steve. I also owned a couple B body Mopars at the time- a '69 Road Runner, and '70 GTX. Although that stock 318 was no match for the acceleration capabilities of my big block cars, the F body handled SOOOO much better. I could easily enter corners at 10 to 15 MPH faster than I would dare try with a B body, and there was very little body roll when cornering hard. I eventually upgraded the 318 Volare RR with a beefier cam, 4 barrel carb, and headers. At that point I had a vehicle that could easily hang with a big block B body on acceleration, and leave it behind after the first corner. I have had some nice classic mopars, but that Volare RR remains my favorite, as it was so much better balanced for everyday driving.

Thank you for showing us this beauty Dennis. In the early 80's, I had a '76 Volare Road Runner with 318 and 4 speed OD transmission and a '77 Aspen R/T with a 360 and AT. I also owned a B body RR and a GTX, and neither of those cars could hang with an F-body in the corners. I always thought in those days that an Aspen or Volare wagon would be a great parts hauler for me, but never came across a wagon at the right price.

Thanks for watching and leaving your comment! Hope you keep having lots of fun cruising your RR and GTX! Maybe you'll still come across a cool wagon one day!

Beautiful car, and not easy to find one anymore. I own a '78 Dodge Aspen wagon with the Super Six and the four speed "OD" transmission. It only has about 30,000 miles on it and is rust free as it came from the desert in Colorado.

Hi, I’m George, I had a 1978 Volare wagon, brown or bronze in color with wood siding. I had that car 14 years, all in Florida, I kept it because it just kept running, never wanted to quit. It was a 225. Only main issue was the front end, always had to get an alignment done on it. Now the driver’s door was sagging, the bushings must have been bad. But other than that it just kept running. Remember the day I sold it in 1997, watched the new owners drive it off with a tear in my eyes.

Hi George and thanks for watching and sharing such a heartfelt memory! We get it...some cars just have that hold on us and we've heard similar stories of the emotion felt when selling a special car. We've felt it ourselves! Keep watching!

Nice car . I daily drive a 79 dodge diplomat wagon. My friend bought it from a junkyard in 2017 with 24,000 original miles. The previous owner passed away. It now has 92,500 miles. It has a 318 with a two barrel Holley carburetor.

We had a Chrysler executive Volare Premier wagon. E58 360/4, ginger upper/dark walnut brown lower paint. Velour split seats, full power, cassette tape, roof rack, gold painted aluminum wheels, road/police suspension package. Great daily driver, soft seats, plenty of power, crisp handling. Ohio rust killed it.

These cars, if you got an excellent sample, bc Chrysler's quality control was pathetic during these years, would last you a very long time due to its indestructible powertrain. These cars offered a beautiful ride, decent handling and wonderful comfort. My Dad purchased one of these, brand new in 1978 and it lasted us 12 years and over a 140 000 miles. I learned to drive in this car , 33 years ago. We sold it in 1990 to my Dad's co worker for $200. He drove it for another 3 years and 37 000 miles more before he got rid of it. The slant 6 in these vehicles were bulletproof. My Dad did not do his first oil and filter change until 37 500 miles! Yet the engine continued to purr!

Very beautiful SW, from Mopar Crisis Era. The design of all this line-up of Volare-Aspen duo, shows that the team work at Highland Park, were correct. The size, features, engines, and all other tech specs were up to its competitors, and personaly I DO Prefer this wagon rather than a modern SUV, no matter electronics and multimedia gadgets, not appealing me at all, very normal, today, every body does. But, what we have got here, is a piece of American industry knowledge, and a correct product, because this frame F, G, M body , lasted until 1989. Great, very remarkable.

I used to own a 1977 Plymouth Volare Wagon back in 1986 to 1998. My wagon wagon got destroyed by rust because the 318 and the transmission were still operational but the floor boards were totally gone. I sold the rusted out wagon to a friend that needed the engine and transmission for his Dodge Truck. After he removed the drive train and the useable parts from the wagon he sold it to a junkyard.

It's a great looking Volare wagon. But, it really should get better than 22 mpg on the highway. I had an 88 Gran Fury, fully loaded with a 318 and I got 27 mpg on the highway. It's essentially the same car under the sheet metal. Many parts actually interchange.
@IfThisCarCouldTalk Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Kent! I don't know how accurate that 22 mpg number is, but you are right about it being a great looking wagon! Bet the Gran Fury was cool!

My father had a 1976 or 77 Volare wagon. I was in it when it was totaled in an accident. Somebody hit us in the drivers door and around the front wheel. Always thought it interesting that though it was toraled we were able to drive away aftr the accident and .my father in fact drove it for weeks afterward ubtil he got a new one. The other car however thoufg it didnt look near as bad must have had damage ubder the hood and wouldnt start and had to be towed. .y father did a lot of drivibg for his job so the car had a lot of miles on it.

a built slat 6 can make a wagon do a wheelie . my best idea was to get a 440 interceptor cop motor under the hood of a kcar wagon where nobody would expect it. sleeper wagon

My 1st wagon was a 76 volare and it was fun, wish I still had it but the trans locked up and I was a kid. I have had maybe 6 wagons in the Mopar family. the 1st one was the most fun but one I had, had a pretty beefy 318. I killed most of my many cars. Some cars I forget what happened to em. Wagons are my favorite. before edit. the wagon was a slant 6 / 4speed manual. If i see one again, Im probly gonna buy it
