Beautiful collection of underrated American uron. I did have a 1966 Rogue 290 4peed. Loved it. Bumblebee yellow body and black hood, top and trunk-deck. Long gone but not forgotten. Thanks Dan for sharing your collection with us.

What a Treasure, I had an American Rambler in highschool and was embarrassed to drive it. Didn't know what I had. My favorite is the Hurst S/S AMX, but the Scrambler is 99.9% as great. Thanks for showing.

My dad gave me his 63 Ambassador 880 when I was 16. I later bought a 70 AMX 360 4-speed with Go Package. Most fun car I ever owned.

I had a 1968 AMX, my soon to be brother-in-law at that time had the Rambler Scrambler! The trunnion front suspension system was rugged! Mark Donahue helped design the AMX probably putting heavy duty station wagon parts from AMC's shelves into it if possible. Cool feature in the back suspension was an "arm" attached to the rear end housing and then to the unibody above with a joint that only allowed upwards and downwards motion. This helped eliminate body roll.

Venice, Cox, although Dan Gurney Javelin AMX and Allison Matador are fabulous cars, the focus of my collection was for factory Red, White and Blue AMC muscle cars. The Gurney and Allison cars were painted by the owners rather than by the factory. The most amazing aspect about these five cars is all of them were on dealers floors just as you see them in the pictures. Imagine walking into a dealer today and seeing any one of these cars brand new on the dealer showroom floor!

Iain, yes I have a great picture of it coming off the line with both front wheels off the ground in the early 70s and a picture of it being raced by the dealer in the summer of 1969 in Anchorage Alaska

Question: Are grills reproduced for 68 and 69 AMX's ??? Dan thanks for sharing your cars on "If This Car Could Talk." If only AMC stayed in business, I wonder what their cars would have looked like today. Have a great weekend.
@IfThisCarCouldTalk2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike! We've often wondered the same thing about what AMC would have gone on to create. I'll let Dan answer your grill question since I know he is reproducing some dash pads. We'll be at Barrett-Jackson all weekend so having lots of fun. You have a good one!
@dancurtis34252 жыл бұрын
Mike, the grills had been reproduced in the past but last I knew they are not currently available as reproductions due to the mold being damaged.

@Dan Curtis thx Dan, jeez, I'm amazed, the cars look soooo good! Well, if you ever need a good detail guy...I love Arizona, I love those AMC's even more! Lol... I learned to drive and passed my exam in my mother's '64 Rambler American. My first car was a factory ordered '76 Hornet X 304. My mom had Ramblers, Gremlins, Hornets, Matador Coup and even an Eagle Sedan. Does that get me any consideration? Lol... Congratulations on your collection! Long live AMC muscle 💪!

Wow * 5 again. Sure is nice that your friend Dan here is so readily to share these vehicles. As you said for the most part they just put behind glass or concrete walls and the public never sees them. I like the rebel SST. But I always want to make a clone if you would of the scrambler rambler. One question. He ran off some numbers about the rebel. I'm assuming that he's talkin about the machine rebel numbers only. Because I've run across a number of rebels sst's and there's just no way I would run across that many if there's only say 1200 or so made. Two of them were convertibles. Yes the top went down and the floor went up. Up and rust that is. Some sad humor but true. Now some of the ssts we're in great shape. I just never got around to buying one for whatever reason. Always thought that looked a little bit like the 67 chargers. Just have to use a little bit of imagination to see it though

Yes. The numbers were for the Machine. I do not know how many Rebel SSTs they made in total
@CAROLDDISCOVER-20252 жыл бұрын
@@dancurtis3425 okay thank you. I'm not even sure that I knew that they made something called The machine until I watch this episode. I think that might be a head-to-head competition with the GTO judge. Those are some beautiful cars! I like them all but I think I like the scrambler to best. Probably for the one reason that I could clone one of them with a basic rambler. I didn't say it would be a hundred percent matching but it be in my pocketbook budget. Did you say that one car race that KCI? I'm a little bit familiar with the area because the people that I've known and still know that race around within 100 miles of the area. Drag and dirt. I'm pretty sure it's sponsored by Lucas. But a while back out around Odessa Missouri Bates City Missouri there's a relatively new dragstrip. It is where the oval track used to be. It where is forced to be closed down by its neighbors because of the noise. But the few times I've driven past it I don't understand where the neighbors are at. They did set to drag strip farther off the interstate. Now I've never been there and I think it's been two or three years anyway since they put up new strip. It's as a fantastic lit sign showing its pit entrance. He's retired now but I knew a guy Lois probably four or five others that used to race out there and live in the area. After college you know we all kind of scattered. Just for interest's since you have the drag car. There's something called knobtown on the Southeast side of a town called raytown. Now I've been there and watch Friends race and it was an old old drag strip. I went just a half a mile from it and this lady to buy this vet. Found out friend of mine was racing and stayed for the event in that has been so many years ago. Also that dragstrip was closed down I don't remember the name of it. It might have been KCI but I don't think so. It was definitely closed down because of the neighbors complaining. This trip was there long before the neighbors built those houses. May not be fair but that's how it is and I love that strip only been there once it was just simple and straightforward. The one out at Topeka Kansas is a nice place. Okay I got way off subject I apologize I just think it's fantastic saving and collecting all five of them. Any chance of a guy finding out location for a front clip that's the correct year for gremlin?
