When I was pregnant and took all the tests and such, I threw up a couple times. One time, a couple nurses rudely said "I am NOT cleaning that up... you do it" and the other "oh no it ain't my turn... you do it". When I became an HHA I swore I would never act like that. Ever. I was so embarrassed because if something I couldn't control. I wipe butts, clean up urine, help people during vomiting and bathe people and give them the dignity and respect they deserve.

I definitely think it’s beneficial to become a CNA before your RN, I’ve been a CNA for 2 years and going to school for nursing and everything you’ve talked about in your video I have experienced as a CNA (cleaning feces, urine, vomit, and blood) which makes me feel even more convinced I can handle being a RN and also it taught me how to better be compassionate and empathetic to my residents

I use to be a nurse aid at a nursing home, I know I was just an aide and not a nurse, but I did a lot of assisting people with activities of daily living, including, dressing, bathing, changing their adult diapers, and I felt horrible for the people, because ur right...they once were independent people like u and I ❤️

*She's so gorgeous! Hi Nadia! She's grown so fast! Your hair is gorgeous! As a nurse, I've worn (still wears) a lot of hats. Here in Finland, I've cleaned all types of stuff with different smells. I totally relate with the shaming in nursing, somehow nursing supervisors tend to check someone off by just one thing (what they don't like). I love caring for wounds and my nursing friend can't stand it BUT she does it nicely when it's her job. I hope I've typed what I really have in mind to say. Listening to you and commenting seem hard for me to do😂😂🙈. Loads of love from another nurse KZbinr ❣️*

Thank you for this video! Because of this can admit to myself that I always wanted to be a nurse because I wanted to be a NICU nurse or Labor/Delivery due to my own experience as being a premature baby and I was one track minded and like you said that’s not how it works when you graduate from nursing school and if you’re smart you’ll take any job that you’re given and everything you said in this video! Spoke to me! I realized nursing is not for me and that’s okay! I discovered that I still wanna be in healthcare but just not nursing 😍 and I been in college for 3 years doing prerequisites, I decided to just do Medical Assisting that won’t take me as long and I know it’s something I’ll enjoy and other things besides healthcare I like that I can make a passion out of that I know I’ll love! That’s what it’s about doing what makes me happy!

These are some great points you brought up. I work in a hospital can't believe some off the things said about the patients. My daughter and son are nurses also my advice to them was don't go into nursing for the money. Really care about the patients be a good nurse. Be safe and God bless.

The only smell that makes me want to run from the room is melena! 🤢🤢🤮🤮 My pet peeve is people that remove bedpans from someone, then don't cover up the contents of the bedpan while they walk to the bathroom or soiled utility room to empty it. It's horrible to see, and God forbid an accident happens, exposure to body fluid occurs. This is especially true on my unit; Emergency room.

I am not a nurse but I get to work with them professionally and I can not tell the admiration I have for these professionals. I’m so glad I found this channel!

I wish I became a CNA before going to nursing school. I feel like I wouldn’t feel as incompetent right now if I did. Only a few smells bother me and make me nauseous. I smelled C.diff and I surprisingly wasn’t that bothered by it. I always have a poker face or have a tiny smile when going into smelly rooms. I don’t want to make the patient feel bad. Some nurses wear masks 💀. The sound of suctioning doesn’t bother me but I don’t like seeing spit. I would rather suction than clean poop but I will have to do both. Vomit bothers me too. It’s both the sight and the smell. The sound doesn’t bother me. Blood doesn’t bother me at all. I remember crying as a kid because I hated seeing blood but it doesn’t affect me at all now. Wounds don’t bother me either but they do freak me out. It’s just crazy how bad some wounds can get. I wouldn’t mind cleaning them. I just feel bad for the patients because I know some of them are in so much pain. My only issue is communication. I have a social anxiety disorder. I think once I get that under control, talking to patients won’t be as bad.

If it was like something else it’s different I definitely think nursing is for me. On the other hand surgery is what seems scary like cutting up a person and seeing the inside like ohh no😓🥴

If you just in it for the money, just to be a boss, cause your bored, cause your family is making you , cause your friends are going to nursing school or out of obligation THEN PLEASE DO NOT GO TO NURSING SCHOOL!!!!! These are the nurses that get on the floor and makes everybody life a living hell. Pray, ask for direction and be mindful of how your potential career may affect your future co-workers. Is ok to say " you know what this is not for me". I respect those ppl even more. I have been a C.N.A, now an LPN and currently working on my RN and I re evaluate at every level. AND GUESS WHAT IF GOD SAYS NO THEN IT'S NO. If my motivation, care for others and drive is gone I WILL NOT NEGATIVELY AFFECT THE LIVES OF HUMAN BEINGS IF I CAN HELP IT. God bless all nursing students and nurses.

All these things you mentioned, I totally see myself doing them all without problems. Vomit, BM cleaning, Wounds, smell, blood Etc I changed my major from Nursing because, I would get excellent grades in every other course, but could not get an A or B in a science course. 😞I would study on my own and with a study group but would never get a good grade. It got so frustrating, so I quit in college. Everyday I still feel like oneday I would like to be a nurse. But I have a hard time with science courses.

Find out what type learner you are. Not to be funny, but you may have ADD or something. I do, but I get good grades in Science. I have to draw picture, watch videos, do things like picmonic so the info can stick in my head, so I can retain the info. You may just be a person that has to study 5 times more than others. I do know you can do it. God ask us to pray for wisdom if you want it. Do this daily!

Hi Mercy love your KZbin channel, can you please do a video on how you were able to go to nursing school, do clinicals and work at the same time? I’m considering going into the nursing field because i love helping people and i feel as though a career in nursing would be good for me however i work full time during the day and I read a lot of things about people not being able to work and do clinicals and go to school at the same time. What is your opinion for those who want to still be a nurse, but may start off having troubles dealing with feces, vomit, smells, etc? I know nurses won’t have to deal with it their entire career since there are many specialties, but you still have to have those 1-2 years of bedside experience.

I know this is nowhere nearly as severe as the things you mentioned in the video. But at orientation for my program today, this girl got so upset about not being able to wear nail polish that she said she was about to walk out. I thought well if she's complaining that much about something that minor, then maybe she should leave...

Once I get past how disgusting a wound probably is, like bone or pus or something, I find it interesting. I saw a picture of an eyeball hanging out of someone’s eye socket in one of my mom’s EMS books for a class she was teaching and I’m like my mom with being able to deal with anything BUT eyeballs😂 but once I got past with thinking that if it was my eyeball like that, I was fine and I just stared thinking about what it would look like if the eyelids were open but that’s for another day another time 😂

i cleaned up running poop and vomit from my son when he was smaller and then on top of that took care of myself my ex and my son when we all had the stomach flu. I didn't know how i managed to think of that pink medicine and ginger ale would cure all of us but it did. I wanted to punch my ex in the face for giving me and my son the stomach flu. And worst scenario we were all using one toilet inside a hotel and i over heard workers saying what the fuck is that smell!? I really cant stand being sick and I would not be able to do it because it will be grown ups, I still dont know how i manage to clean up after my son but no one else was around to do it so i had too.
