You hit the nail on the head! We are looking at going full-time when we retire next year and we are going through all of the steps you mentioned in the video. We started researching about 3 months ago and will continue to research, learn, watch videos and more until we are ready to buy late this year or early next year. This will be our 3rd RV. Had a hybrid Jayco. 30 ft. Jayco. Now, after chaning our minds several times, probably an Allegro Bus 40 IP. At least until we change our mind again lol. Thanks again for all the great information you provide. It helps a lot!

#2 TMV - Hey, guys 2:01 thanks for putting this near the top of the list. I am having a very difficult time of finding what purchasers of new and especially used B and B+ (or for that matter any RV) actually paid for the RV they bought. How do you suggest finding the actual purchase price of RVs? Cheers Chris

Youse guys great vid! I would suggest that before buying, you should also rent the different types out there to get a feel for what YOU can handle. I had a client who was like a big baby Huey (I’m retired now I can say that) nice guy but clutsy. No matter what he drove he’d hit something including your car if it was nearby, unbelievable. Some folks just don’t have the ability to see and account for what is not readily visible, they should be nowhere near an RV of any size. Hey I get it, even though you’re Juhsey you can’t say that to your audience, I can and did. Not trying to be mean just stating what needs saying. Drive safe love your channel. Juhsey shore season coming up… 🎼on the way to Cape May…

In 2022, we purchased a 2021 Holiday Rambler Vacationer 33C (Gas). We looked at reviews from owners and took our time. We spoke to an RV tech that was in the business for more than 20 years. When we bought, we really got a good deal. The reasons we know we got a good deal is because, we feel like we got a good deal 😉. So far (knock on wood), we are doing well. Just retired so it is time for the longer trips. great video.

The more I research, the more it seems the usual warranty when the unit is sold are scary!!! It seems local dealers just want to sell but not want to fix a problem that arises.

Wife and I went to the Tampa show definitely disappointed in the cheap construction of the new coaches … We looked at class A’s ranging from $160k to $600k shoddy workmanship in all of them .. Sad .. Hard to believe they brought some of these to the show from broken cabinet doors to one had a shower the floor had sunk ..$600,000 coach

Great video, and great points. If we do ever sell our current rig we will likely go smaller. That would certainly mean changing the way we camp but could see the benefit of smaller. We kick around the idea of a 30-32 foot class C but we are happy with our current set up.

Good list. Ours after 6 years is: No kitchen on a side out No schwinteck slide outs Lots of windows Lots of basement storage with pass throughs 24K chassis gas minimum and 2K+ CCC after water and people Propane fridge for boondocking Split bathroom/shower Hide a bed that you can walk around and not climb over to get outside Room for four house batteries Dinette that converts to a bed - for our dog crates or bunk beds Until we find it, we are enjoying what we have!

We researched extensively prior to buying. Ended up purchasing from a private owner who bought this unit new. We felt comfortable knowing a better history regarding service records and their overall experience with the unit. With that said, I spent the time to go through every system and have made numerous changes and upgrades based on other owners' experiences with this same unit. Uncovered a number of areas that needed attention most did not. So far so good, am I saying we won't have some issues, not at all. I do think we are more prepared if and when something may happen. The best recommendation as they stressed in the video is to really, really research. Happy shopping and camping.

I would say a lot of people buy RV‘s impulsive, same day, at an RV show because they fall in love with it. We did that too, even after having 2 Class C‘s but we knew what we wanted and bought a Newmar Canyon Star 3710 which till today we do not regret. It’s just a quality built and no we do not have a slide with water lines. We are empty nesters but have two large Suisse Mountain dogs which take up a lot of „floor space“. So a Class B is out of question. A Class C would be doable, we always liked the bunk over the cab and that it feels like driving a pickup truck not a huge (wide and tall) Class A. I would especially look / upgrade the Chassis for a smooth ride. Great video as always.

I definitely agree with you guys. We researched for an rv for years and years not really sure if we were ever going to do it. Then a year before we retired we found a used one and bought it. We went on trips for a year to get to learn and enjoy the rv. Now that we are full time and have been for 5 years and have had our experience of the rv life we are looking for an up grade, that is why I was so interested in watching your video on class C. Living in our smaller one and seeing what I would do to better ours, well we decided to start researching again. So with that message, WELL Said, you two. Always research no matter what….Thanks again.

Seems like there is a really need to help owners and first time buyers handle an RV purchase like a project. The summary of your video is to put structure and process to acquiring an RV. This really could almost be a service in itself. We talk so much about getting an inspection the unit when really we would be better having someone coach us through getting the next RV. Almost like a mentor. I think about all the comments and really they are trying to help us make decisions based on data points and less on emotion and impulse. At least that’s how I’m hearing your message. Really appreciate you guys.

Great video with excellent advice. Thank you. I would mention that you can actually get the "perfect floorplan" if someone is interested in a fifth wheel. New Horizons out of Kansas will build a trailer that meets your exact specifications. Yes, it is not cheap but you get what you actually want and not any compromised floorplan. Thanks again for all your informational videos. Greatly appreciated.

PLEASE reconsider downsizing, especially if you want to be a part of your child’s college life. During football season, we have had as many as 18 of her friends in our rv at one time. Tonight, she had 4 friends in here for a Mardi Gras parade. The friends actually like having an rv to hang out in.

Good advice. Test driving isn't that easy at some dealerships.. At Camping World for example, they basically wanted you to be ready to drive it away before driving it. But, best advice I never followed, was rent before you buy it.

Hello MJ and Izzy!! Thank you so much for sharing these tips. They are really great. Like you said....does one have to use them? Absolutely not. If one does use them, are they guaranteed to be happy? Not necessarily. Buuuttttttt.....I feel 90+% of the buyers, if they used these tips, would definitely be happier (I actually think more like mid to upper 90s). When we bought our travel trailer in December 2021 (this was our 3rd travel trailer), I did basically use you list (I will call that accidental premonitious excellence hehehe). The only item I specifically didn't use was the certified rv inspection services. Part of it is there are only a handful in the rural parts of Colorado. The other part is I tend to be pretty mechanically handy (have worked on 2 others before, as well as having years of time deployed where we just had to fix our own stuff). Oh, and, I feel like the only real differences between my 1967 17ft Roadrunner travel trailer and my 2022 Outdoors RV travel trailer are, 1) I now have DSI on the water heater and fridge, and 2) the walls are a different construction material.....but, checking seams, fittings, etc is still the same concept, and 3) my 1967 was solid steel framing and real wood cabinetry; so it was much heavier by foot. Everything else really is the same technology. Oh....and I did put a robust solar set up on my current ORV. What I would add now is that the features that I wanted have slightly changed. Originally, the mission statement was 1) walk around bed so that one person doesn't have to bound over the other in the middle of the night , 2) stand alone dry bathroom (not a wet bathroom, 3) decent counter space and cabinetry, and an elevated frame to accommodate our boondocking style, for better clearance. If I was looking now, I would have added "a second place to sit when inside that is in addition to the dinette". I mean like a theater seating or a couch. Yes...we are boondocking and one should be outside as much as possible. But, in practice, it seems we mostly are camping at times that we HAVE to run the heater (either because it isn't summer, or that we are at 10000feet and it is close to freezing in the summer nights). With just having our dinette, it isn't completely comfortable when sitting inside. I was very focused on having a modest lengthen rig since we almost exclusively boondock. I would get a 3ft longer rig now and get that second spot to sit.....if I were doing it again. Have an awesome weekend!!

I don’t know about Newmar. But the Winnebago Tour, Ellipse, and Horizon all have a 42Q floor plan with a kitchen slide. I never in all those yrs (2013-2020) of that floor plan was available seen or heard of a water leak from that slide. Including my 2020 Horizon. 4 yrs and 55,000 miles over 6 months on the road last yr. Absolutely no issues.

I agree with even having a new RV inspected by a NRVIA Certified Inspector and get things fixed before signing a buyers agreement. Here's a new one for me, ask for a copy of the buyers agreement a least a week ahead and have a lawyer go over it. Some agreements have language in it where you are signing away your protection and rights, like "binding arbitration" and only being able to litigate in manufacturer's state. (Indiana).

Hi guys, Yah I get all that but must admit I find it cringeworthy when I here someone say something like “I have a 37’ motorhome that we both like to drive and it’s been great for us. But now we’re empty nesters and we’re going to buy a 26’ fliver with nice European styling”! If I were a betting man I’d bet $5 BIG ones you’ll be in a 45’ diesel pusher 3 to 5 years later. And you’ll say “oh we’ve had a change of lifestyle”! That we all will know I’d “””Bull Honky””” and I’ve amended the actual language. 😅 So come on guys, man up and get yourself an 8 to 10 year old DP and live large!

As far as repairs go I would disregard the dealer. Sadly you can buy from a great dealer that sells off the business 2 months later. Instead I would research if the manufacturer allows approved work to be done by a third party. That way you can get the work done more on your schedule than theirs and you know who is doing the work rather than just some tech. On buying an RV the big thing is size because you can't change that. To me there are at least to types of people in the community, RV-ers that travel or travelers that use an RV. With the first group comfort and style is high priority, but with the size of some of those units there are many places you just can't go. I am the second type, the destination is more important than what I am traveling in. So small and capable are high on the list. I think I am going for the pan american trip next fall and can't see myself driving a 40' diesel pusher through the streets of Bogota.

Just something to think about. I would buy your next coach BEFORE you retire. The reason is banks and outher lending institutions may give you a better rate based on your income/job. Most people have a fairly big drop in income when they retire. It could just be a mouth or so and don't talk about quieting/retiring.

Very useful information for which I thank you both. I’m doing my research and have been for some time now. Prices are all over the place currently and I personally believe that they will go down further as people struggle to keep their homes. After watching your channel and several others I’ve learned that you must have an independent inspector at least once and possibly twice if there’s work to do. I love the older RVS that have been treated like the Crown Jewels and serviced regularly. It’s not just the paperwork I want to see but also check with the repair shop that they are genuine. I’m not going to be buying a monster of a class A but I will be testing out a range of vehicles that meet the majority of my requirements. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts 🥰💫
