Beautifully done, Ely Cathedral choir. One of the best performances I have heard. My Church Choir will be performing it this September 3rd. Looking forward to singing it. God Bless you for your uplifting music.

In my youth I sang in a church choir. We sang this piece too, but I have to hand it to you - this is utterly beautiful. Thankyou so much.

One of my favorite Tallis hymns and sung by a choir with rich talent due to its conductor.

...nothing to do with the conductor!

‘If he love me’ is an anthem or motet, not a hymn. The singing is representative of the Anglican cathedral choral tradition which is arguably the finest in the world, so this type of performance is typical of what you would hear in any Church of England cathedral, large church or chapel anywhere in England.
I am moved by sheer beauty of voices, words, direction and Ely Cathedral..another beauty...Man’s gift to us all.

How wonderful that this choir and their church community allows a female director.

The gender of the director is not of importance. The singing is.

The fact that you had to mention it means it still is important and noteworthy

With only eight in the group they don`t need a conductor.

David Leimkuehler Tell me one good reason why? How could that Devine sound be in any way more beautiful ? You’re being square and stuffy. Be generous & step down a tread or two !

Indeed, why?

As Tallis worked for English Queens Mary (who gave him a lease on a manor in Kent) and Elizabeth I I doubt he had much of a problem with women in leadership roles - we were in charge of the country for decades in the 1500s
