Spot on response to the "nit picking types" I think sometimes content providers underestimate how distracting it is to listen to them over explain in an effort to appease negative people. One of the things I love about your channel is that you and Aaron don't do that. You just smile, say what you think, and move on. Love that approach!

I wonder if they were more diligent about using pressure regulators if they could avoid using all those extra hose clamps? That seems like a giant pain to me and unnecessary if you’re using regulators. There may be more to their situation than I realize but I’ve never seen anyone else on KZbin do that

Always so much to love in these recaps, but my favorite part might have been when Laura said they don’t need a play set because Benjamin’s been preoccupied with a “pile of nails” lately. Hysterical. These kids are living the life, what a great place to grow up. Can’t imagine even needing a slide or swing set. Between chickens, tractors, and yes, piles of scrap wood and nails, how could a kid be bored.

As someone who uses a Ferris zero turn, yes it is faster. There are pros and cons between both a zero turn and a lawn tractor. The Ferris brand is great because it has its own suspension and I have an air ride seat on mine (my yard is 5 acres of hill side and mole holes). I have a 6 foot deck on mine so I can get mine done in 2.5 hours. The large deck size enables me to be able to hold the steep hills. I can't hold the hills with a 5 foot deck. The down side is that because of the differences in terrain (terraces created for watershed issue years ago) there is an uneven cut in many areas. I wish I could use a tractor style mower on my lawn. I think they provide a more beautiful cut. I am envious of your beautiful flat lawn, but I also love living at the top of a hill. Keep up the good work Aaron and Laura, your entire property is just gorgeous ♥️

My thought about the arbor is it needs to be double width as it's a major access point. Then you could plant your roses if desired. Anything climbing will necessarily make the arbor narrower. I like Aaron's idea of pillars or perhaps pillars topped by urns as entrance.

I just learned that you can actually mix diatomaceous earth with water in a solution and use it as a foliar spray. It works like that as well, so it doesn't have to be dry dust to work. Two Tablespoons per gallon of water solution and used as a foliar spray to leaves. It is effective once it has dried in the sun.

When Laura mentioned the person who grew sunflowers in trays it reminded me of a post about grass seeding only in the fall that no other time was wrong. I come across this attitude in other places where people post questions and you get such comments then the meanness comes out. There is none of this here and it's such a pleasure to read comments without that. It is I think a reflection of Laura and Aarons ability to share their knowledge.

That is a good choice, I agree. You don't have to cut them if you want winter interest, just leave them up for structure and shake off the leaves as they dry out. In spring, a little tidying gets them going without cutting back hard. And it looks great with strings of solar lights (I like the ones of clear plastic cord best). Happy Father's Day, to Aaron, and All Fathers Everywhere! Just want to say too, the drone footage of the lawn being perfectly mowed was very satisfying. The plaid pattern!, a theme we all know you both really enjoy, adds another bespoke element to your fantasy garden. Thanks so much for taking us along on this magical ride!

Regarding a play set for your kids, we hade a regular swing set common in the 60’s but ours was set in concrete for stability. When the five of us got too big for the swings and see saw, we removed them and used the structure as a sort of “jungle gym”. I did not have a play ground as a kid and I loved playing out in the woods of our 6 acres and playing by our little (very small) stream as a kid. My imagination was a glorious thing. I investigated worms and frogs and climbed trees and found cloud animals and so so much more. As I got a little older my parents got us scooters to drive around on our property. I also loved building thing with scrap wood and playing (supervised) with tools and helping to pick up sticks and helping to drive the lawn mower. I had so much fun as a child because the sky was the limit as far as the fun went. I learned about Mother Nature and animals. Oh, we fed the chipmunk nuts during the winters, they would come up on the porch and eat them right out of our hands. It makes me so sad that a lot of kids don’t have that any more. Don’t limit your kids to a swing set guys, let them explore like you are doing now and watch them thrive. ❤❤❤

And then you can show what you treat with, and how it's applied. Off the top of my head you've mentioned budworms, earnings, slugs, Roly polys, squash bugs and spider mites. If you need ideas for times when your more maintenance than planting. I know it would help to visually see those things.

Happy Father’s Day, you are a great Dad!! It is so evident anytime you are on camera with either of the children 💜. Laura, do what you want to do when you want to do it. You are sharing your prospective in videos and we all learn so much from you. People that take the time to criticize you are just miserable people who love to put down on other people to make themselves feel better. Just go for it and keep up the good job. Love watching both of you ❤

I love mine! But.... it certainly does sound enticing to have a hand free for a cocktail. My husband can run it with one hand but I go full speed and don't trust myself with one hand. 🤪

I have watched many of your videos, and I 5:59 have seen how great you decorate; you are truly talented with many vertude. I wish you continue success. My best time to plant is when it is partially sunny - not too hot and not raining. If it is too sunny, I wear a cap.

Laura, I know this recipe uses red cabbage & I think you grow green cabbage, but this is so delicious. We love this with a good schnitzel. Slow Cooker Red Cabbage and Apples 8 cups sliced red cabbage - 1 large head 2 cups diced apples 2 medium yellow onions, sliced 1/4 cup butter 2/3 cup apple cider vinegar 1/2 cup sugar 1 tbsp salt 1/2 tsp black pepper 1/2 tsp AllSpice 2 bay leaves 1/3 cup water Melt butter in a skillet. Add onions and sauté until almost translucent. Add onions and butter to slow cooker. Add cabbage and apples to cooker. Mix together vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper and AllSpice. Pour over cabbage and apples. Rinse bowl that contained vinegar mixture with 1/3 cup water and pour into slow cooker. Place bay leaves in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8-9 hours or on high for 4 hours until cabbage is tender.

Happy Father's Day to Aaron and all the other Dads out there! And I agree with Aaron. I like a steering wheel & a good cup holder on a riding mower! The zero turns that you constantly have to have both hands on at all times isn't for me.

At the assisted living facility, we would call that concrete bed a "planter". As for cabbage usages, besides the usual cole slaw or corned beef and cabbage, we also do a keilbasa/smoked sausage pot with red potatoes, cabbage, and green apple slices on top (very Eastern European) and sauerkraut on the bottom, all in a broth of some kind. I also love to put shredded cabbage into any Asian stir fry I do, whether Chinese or Thai,. Our southeast-based supermarket chain Publix has been selling prepared salads that consist primarily of chopped cabbage with other yummy things added, so a southwestern salad would be the chopped cabbage, tortilla strips, corn, onion, black beans, and chipotle dressing. I have also fairly recently discovered fish tacos, and I always use cabbage in these instead of lettuce; you just have to really shred the cabbage to keep it in your taco.

About the “white” bricks, if you can’t fix it and have to redo, could you use the same bricks by turning them over so the current bottom becomes the top?

Laura, I planted around 15 Blue Spruce from a tree farm at 10 - 11 foot tall, and a six foot container grown at the same time in 2007. The six foot caught up and all are at 25 foot tall now. I think the shock of cutting the roots sets the tree back, and the container grown tree sets it's roots easier

For the entryway to the brick patio-maybe design pillars with an iron arbor on the top with a light hanging from the center?

You should have people send in photos of “play areas” - so many people have great ideas, magical play spaces that include gardens and cute cottages with slides that are sweet and kid sized. So many great ideas out there that you might share - even if you never put one in - I’d never expect you guys to have a boring old box store swing set
